These 2 pages are beautiful together! I love that stencil ❤ I just used this technique with watercolor and small mesh from an onion bag lol it was awesome. I take a separate piece of watercolor paper the same size and before lifting stencil after painting place paper on top stencil. I rub it down really well and lift extra paper but leave the stencil and bottom page in place until paint dries. Adds another look. So fun and more bang for your buck!
When the orange flap is on the left page it's Mississippi, when it's on the right, it's Alabama. As always super fun, super neat artwork. You're an inspiration and help unblock the rest of us. Thank you Denise.
Thanks for sharing your fun ideas! I've been getting into mixed media/collage etc recently and I love it. I can use whatever I want and whatever I feel like @ that time. I just got a mixed-media journal and it's my fun play time that's all in 1 place and not loose sheets everywhere making a mess. Have a great day
Oh so very cool....that orange paper is amazing - such a creative and beautiful way to separate the two painted pages, yet make it fully a part of the whole. LOVE 🧡
I’m going to give stencils and watercolours a go. That looks fab. Plus I’m going (when I’ve been good and used my other supplies up) to try one of those Ranger sketchbooks
Love where this spread is going. My extra large DW book has been staring at me for years. You never realize what works well with something until you see it. Who knew to get out the bigger stencils to start pages with in it. This whole design you have started is very inspirational. Thank you. ❤😊❤
@2lilowlsstudio i just organized my mulberry papers, im getting my thoughts together. I look forward to seeing whats next. I love my other DW journals I have been using so finally gathering inspiration for the larger journal has been fun.
LOVE these colors!!! Gotta get me a bigger journal! I am so in love with that leaf stencil that I dreamed about it two nights in a row. Wish it was still available.
So glad you loved this. The stencil is still available. It is a stencil girl stencil club stencil - if you join their stencil club - they let you buy past months. That’s what I did. Bought a few that were past months. 😊
First of all, you leave the most awesomely comprehensive list of materials for us. Major kudos for that!! Second, that spread is FAB!!! Third, your new photos are ooh la la. Always great videos & presentation. Thank YOU!!
Love what you are doing Denise, great use of the big stencil, I look forward to next visit with the DW journal. I just pulled ribbed cardboard off my water color, most was too dry, but got some awesome lines. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Oooh! I love the ribbed cardboard! So glad you gave that a try! I've done several layouts now in the journal coming up - think I've found my groove now! Thank you! 🥰
Thank you for sharing your fun experiments and cheerful attitude! I have an idea for a video, do with it what you like. I'm starting to get more into scrapbooking/multimedia recently, partly because it turns out my daughter loves it as much as I do. So it's a creative activity we can do together. However, storage is quickly turning into a challenge. For this hobby to be fun, we want to have lots of bits and bobs. But for those to actually be used instead of forgotten, we do have to store them in a way that keeps them accessible and manageable. If you'd enjoy making a video about tricks and advice on that topic, that would be amazing. No pressure, though. Keep focusing on what gives you energy, because your joy is what I love most about your channel.
I do have a studio tour on how I have things organized if you haven't seen that... but I'm not super organized with the bits and bobs - most of my things like that are in clear totes that are stacked in the closet - but I like that since they are clear - you can kinda see what is int them making it easier to grab the one you want. 🥰
Radish the fool, I have a suggestion for that, get some of those see thru envelopes or zipper pockets see thru, then sort your bits and bobs by colors, then when you need a certain color for you project its simple to see which envelope has the color you want. Keep them all upright in a plastic basket or tub for handy access, hope that helps. 😊
Never thought of using water color through a stencil as I thought it would just make a blob but this page turned out just great! The flap is a very interesting element. Looking forward to seeing more of your art journal as I am currently working on one through an on-line class. Question: Does the Yes glue dry clear? Thanks for sharing, Denise.
I never thought of doing that either - but I think it is my favorite technique now! I love how it is imperfect but still came out great! That yes! paste is great - yes it dries clear. I've done several more pages that are coming up.. and I feel like I've found my groove now for this book for a while! Thank you! 🥰
Fun video! Every time I work in a journal with watercolors, I end up getting paint on other pages in the book, usually just at the edges. Maybe I am sloppy. Is there a way to prevent that?
If you put a piece of parchment paper or wax paper under the page, you’re going to work on, then any spillage over the sides, while not mark up the edges of the pages. I hope that were worded that properly so you can understand..
You missed an opportunity to use the paint that was in the stencil when you lifted it. Spritz sparingly with water the flip it over in a clean sheet of what ever for more painty paper!
5:04 your reactions are priceless Denise. Your laugh, your giggles and kerfuffles along the way are everything! Good Sunday to you my dear!
Haha! Thank you! 🥰

❤️❤️❤️ it is magical watching you create; using the orange paper as a partial cover - stealing that idea to use in my project.
Thank you! 🥰
I have this same journal and have not broken a page. This is the boost I need! Beautiful.
Getting started is hard! I’ve done several layouts now and feel like I’ve got my groove now! 😊
Your reaction when you first lift off the stencil is my absolute favorite!!! It really drives home how much joy this brought you. #goals
That was a fun moment!! Thank you! 🥰
The watercolors through the stencil look wonderful. Color makes me so happy, and I love your choices.

Ha! Funny 😁 Thank you! 🥰
I like that stencil! Tried to order it. Sold out
I think they cut all of their own stencils - so you might check back to see when they restock it. It is one of my favorites now. It is really cool! 😊
Love, love, LOVE that stencil process! Trying that this afternoon!
It is a fun technique!! 🎨🎨🎨
