Former Jeeper here, I use to love watching the "Hybrid" cab trucks back in the days before Rockbouncer tube chassis. Amazing as well as the Railbuggies with the chain drives. Thanks for sharing one OG wheeler to the next. I'm getting back into trail riding after almost 15 yrs off, its amazing the difference these SxSs are. I'm sold on the KRX hoping to get one next year. Love your channel Grim, keep these vids coming.
Who still rides Aetna? I love it. Been going since we parked at the bottom on someone's front yard. More videos from the buggy vault here: th-cam.com/play/PLgMjrFDtpxSok5Qjy3x9auoM0n5_XV6xw.html
As a buggy guy myself I love watching the videos. I also own a rzr. But I also have a X3 and it is the closest thing to buggy by far. Borrow an X3 and try one out. If you loved the buggy you’ll love the X3. You feel more comfortable on stuff and less feeling top heavy as you do in a Rzr. Thanks for the videos man.
I think you have to join a club at Raccoon Mt trailer park Mr perlackey? I think they raised so much stink that TWRA will mess with riders. And Blackreek Mt subdivision has the other way blocked
I remember when I was little (I’m Ricky mcgowans son) riding with you out at Lucas. Dad let me hop in and ride with you for a sec on those play hills beside mud circle and you flipped us over 😂 they all pushed and rolled us back over and we hit that hill again and made it just fine haha
I have several railbuggys and have a borderline unhealthy obsession Saw the thumbnail and thought dang thats ugly and I don't even want that rail and now I know someday I'll have one very similar
Is that kirt or Curtis something like that in the chain drive. Use to ride with him and his dad back in 2002 in cromers ridge in KY before they closed it down.
Keep that buggy vault open Grim ! Appreciate ya time and channel buddy 👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻🇺🇸💪🏻 I am gona have to say MORE BUGGY VIDEO,S !! Happy Holidays n stay safe !!!
Ya man, I think ya should ! I got my rear torsion cut out now stretch,n it to 103" wheel base. And it's just fun work,n on them to me. Especially when you're custom mods WORK !! LOL Hope,n to help keep the front end down on the Big/Steep hills...
Hey Johnny love the videos. I have a ? I just picked up a berrian 4105 VW powered, I would like to do a suspension on front of mine. How do you like your setup and what is it called I have king pin front now stock shock location. Also what cc you run if ya don't mind me asking thank you in advance.
I had a kingpin with some longer aftermarket trailing arms and a stronger spindle. We called them combo spindles and I can't remember why right now. Didn't run leaf packs just had coilovers. Super tough setup. Motor was a 2332 with pretty good stuff. Superflo heads, aluminum case, complete msd.
It’s super nice out there. I went once. I have a nice hill climb I did there on my channel. You should check it out. I took my turbo s on 34” moto havocs up a pretty steep hill next to balls hill or horse power hill not for sure.

Thank you. The KRX is a pretty solid machine without changing much. The rest of them need upgrades from the start
Did you get your KRX yet
I feel a lot prouder wheeling something I built over a side by side 👍🏻
It means more when you can climb something others can't when you built it.
Thats birds truck . 😂 these were good times. Spent our honeymoon in the mud on the powerlines. Cant believe that was 17 years ago
It's went by fast
Horsepower, new hill, pb hole, then runaway. Aetna was the best wheeling place miss it every weekend..
Me too

Every weekend unless I’m broke. Been there on and off since 1989
I think my first trip was around 97.
Love it Johnny! Hope yall havin a great christmas season this weekend! God Bless You and your entire family!🇺🇸
Thank you. You too
Another great one, sucks it sounds like its going to stop, hope you can find some more from your buddies if you can, really enjoy it the old stuff.
I've got more. Even had a few friends say they had some I could get too.
We would climb some knarly hills on our back in the early 2000’s and the hills looked flat on the old digital cameras.
I know. Video rarely looks as steep
I can remember seeing these buggies when we use to go there.
That was one of my favorite places to go in buggies. I heard that it might be shutting down soon
That was awesome! I haven't been to Aetna since the early nineties. It was a great experience there.
We used to park at the bottom of the hill in someones front yard and camp on like an old torn down building slab. Best of times.

Im really tempted to make a 4 seater tube chassis out of my RZR.
@@GrimRZR dare ya!
@@black07rr that should do t. Ordering some tubing on Monday. Lol
Yes I have heard of it to I need to ride around there and see last time has been a while for me I’ll let you know for sure thogh
I know it would be tough to shut out locals. When all the parking places get closed it makes it harder for out of town folks to come though
There's just nothing like a good set of bolts !!! I sure miss cab trucks
Bolted tires made it like the slippery mud went away
It has been a few years since I rode that trail a few rain drops and bigger bad ass rails eat up some Aetna
I used to love it there. Wish I could find a way to get back out there

Good times.
Oh yeah I've seen that chain drive buggy with the hummer front diff, its a beast! Great video!
Thanks. It did really good 2wd before the Hummer front stuff
Cool vid Johnny, I miss the Tellico days
Me too. I have some video from tellico but its not acting right for me to transfer to digital so I can upload it.
I have several railbuggys and have a borderline unhealthy obsession Saw the thumbnail and thought dang thats ugly and I don't even want that rail and now I know someday I'll have one very similar
It's wild
Aetna is a great place to ride. We ride there pretty often.
I love going up there. Wish I could go more often
I came across a few more pictures of our buggys
I was just looking through them. My son is really digging the rail buggies
That was definitely a fun weekend
We can still ride there.
That’s a great place enjoy it
Someone has mentioned it may close soon
Love the rails keep em comin
Will do. I still have a good bit in the buggy vault. We found a local group that still rides so hopefully can get some new stuff too. Thanks
Good ole days, still ride there almost every weekend.
That's awesome. I'm ready to go back soon
Hope you do come back. It’s Mild to wild. Perfect place for your boy to drive.
Gosh. Don't let him hear that. I'm going to have to build him his own so I get to drive
Is it ready yet? The hill is waiting lol
I keep procrastinating. If I can keep my RZR from breaking I probably will start another buggy build.
Don't see that anymore. Use to be a bunch of cab trucks up there back in the day.
I know. They were awesome. Now it's tube buggies or utv
Is that kirt or Curtis something like that in the chain drive. Use to ride with him and his dad back in 2002 in cromers ridge in KY before they closed it down.
Not this one, but I did ride with them too.
I seen those chain drive buggy’s climb some hills that would make a billy goat scratch his head and wonder how he got up there. Lol.

It should. Running it a little softer helps too.
Man makes me miss my cab truck I built about 12 years ago I miss the simpler days. lol now it’s the expensive rzrs we half to have 😂
Can trucks were fun. I had the most fun with rail buggies
Best wheelin ever = Aetna mountain.
It had it all
It’s a truggy up here! Half truck half buggy!
Nice. Don't see these much anymore.
No you don’t. Especially one with a big motor.
Makes me miss Tellico more and more.
It was a fun place. We always camped right at the creek crossing on trail 5 I think
@@GrimRZR we always camp out about half way out chestnut mountain on the left going towards fainford.
Its been so long I don't even remember any of those places.
@@GrimRZR you got any videos from Tellico I'd like to see them if you do post some more history
@@jwest4257 I do but can't find it yet
That looks like a 3.8 Buick motor . My cab truck rode almost as well as my razor does
Some of them do. Just not this one. I had one that rode decent. Leafs in the back with coil springs in front. Old ford truck
Man that looked like some awesome hills!
This was just a small portion. You can see there were just a lot of climbs on every hill. Instead of just one trail up and down. Love this place

Also this was from around 2005. Wish I still had it.
Enjoyed...
Thanks. Haven't been messing with my RC stuff since I got a RZR but still have some
I'm building a mud buggy I'm trying to figure out a cheap mottor that will turn big tires
I think its hard to beat the LS motors now a days for cheap horsepower.
Don’t see a txt going up that.Dam-it I’m lookin for a buggy
You need one. There is supposed to around 15 rail buggies riding this weekend at Indian mountain
I don’t see a rzr going up that.
Only one way to know. Lol
If ya could lock the rear chain diffs them thing be unstoppable
It would be hard to drive with a locked rear end. With turning brakes it worked great.
What kind of motor were you running in your rail bud
Mine was a VW. 2332 with superflo heads. Lots of other Goodies
It’s super nice out there. I went once. I have a nice hill climb I did there on my channel. You should check it out. I took my turbo s on 34” moto havocs up a pretty steep hill next to balls hill or horse power hill not for sure.
I will definitely look. Thanks for watching
What kinda chains is he running on that thing
I think they used a 80 or 90 chain.
I really can't remember
Ok this gave me an idea for a awd conversion kit for my fwd car
I'm sure there are more pics and videos of chain drive buggies. They work great
love it
It was a great day
Anyone running a joyner sand spider? If so howd it do
I haven't seen any. Sounds like they would be fun.
@@GrimRZR they are a 650cc 2 cyl with a 4 speed transaxle setup. They are very weak but will crawl very well in 1st. Look up joyner sand spider 650
@@dandriver128 I am going to have to look into one. My oldest son is ready for us to start a project
👍👍
I appreciate it.
Can’t believe Aetna is now closed what people do for money
It sucks
I was going to subscribe until you said you went to a razor.
I took about a 15 yr break. My son is ready for me to build another railbuggy
