THEY MIGHT BE the most important band of the '90s. They've never sacrificed their artistic integrity for a paycheck. And they've never been afraid of who they are, nor are they afraid to grow/ experiment. Like most great artists, I think they'll be appreciated much more after they're gone, sadly. I've always proudly stated that I am a fan... ever since FLOOD. ...which is a masterpiece.
I love this band and applaud your efforts with the video. However, I also find it hilarious that the documentary attempts to explain what every song is *about* - an approach so literal that even TMBG themselves would never try it. ;)
i literally searched up they might be giants earlier today looking for an essay specifically in your style and found nothing. mostly because they reminded me of tally hall, (and how they made the same kind of music 20 yrs before tally hall did)
@@puppetloser I guessed that yeah, both absolutely goat bands (except for joe Hawley but he's also very likely to have been extremely schizophrenic at that time so it wasn't really his fault :[ )
Not me getting recommended this video while listening to a new TMBG CD I just bought 😭 (Also amazing job on the video! I can tell you really worked hard on it!)
@@beetlebat I saw them in 1991 - intelligent, fun, confident musicianship, without a morsel of pretension or contempt of audience. From the 'Nirvana/Pulp Fiction' era onwards, we weren't allowed to enjoy anything innocent anymore...we had to 'endure' an assault of (faux) art.

It feels a bit strange to hear all of these interpretations with a kind of claim for truthfulness, especially if there actually are some John-quotes that seem to contradict them, but I absolutely applaud the load of work that must've gone into this information-cramped hour!!
