i've listened to the spirit phone commentary multiple times and it's about the legend of the mellified man, which was an old guy who supposedly only ate honey until his death so when his body broke down it would be a medicinal substance. neil decided that since the subject matter could be taken a weird way he decided to make the lyrics say that it's not sexual which he said "only made it worse" so yeah
I would recommend listening to some of his album commentaries as he explains a lot more about dinosaurchestra, Damn Skippy, spirit phone and a bit of view monster(it's also just interesting on it's own lol)
I had an assignment in my high school economics class to create a sales ad for a product. I chose to try to sell a Lemon Demon album because I was obsessed with Flash animations at the time, and Ultimate Showdown was the most viral. I discovered that Neil had made a few other songs under the band name and loved the vibe, so I chose to try "selling" his stuff to introduce my fellow geeks to it.

I highly disagree with your interpretation of a lot, if not most, songs. I suppose that is the beauty of art. But one that stood out to me most is "The Machine". It is far from my favourite musically, but lyrically it is my favourite Lemon Demon song. A lot of people have their own very varying interpretations of the song. I believe the machine could represent art and it's destruction an unfortunate tendency of people to destroy that what they don't understand even if it's harmless and beautiful. What we do know is that the song idea came to Neil from the quote "What does it do?" "It doesn’t do anything. That’s the beauty of it.” that is reportedly a case of the Mandela Effect, where no one knows where it originally came from. Neil says he most likely first heard it on the Something Awful forum and made it into a song. That is to say: I don't think that song is about nothing. At least a lot of people found a lot of meanings in it.

I highly disagree with your interpretation of a lot, if not most, songs. I suppose that is the beauty of art.
But one that stood out to me most is "The Machine". It is far from my favourite musically, but lyrically it is my favourite Lemon Demon song.
A lot of people have their own very varying interpretations of the song. I believe the machine could represent art and it's destruction an unfortunate tendency of people to destroy that what they don't understand even if it's harmless and beautiful.
What we do know is that the song idea came to Neil from the quote "What does it do?" "It doesn’t do anything. That’s the beauty of it.” that is reportedly a case of the Mandela Effect, where no one knows where it originally came from. Neil says he most likely first heard it on the Something Awful forum and made it into a song.
That is to say: I don't think that song is about nothing. At least a lot of people found a lot of meanings in it.
