I myself admire each of the Queens.Katherine for tenacity, Anne Boleyn for mind, Jane Seymour for her patience, Anna for being a friend to Mary and Elizabeth, Cathyern Howard her vivacious spirit, and Catherine Parr for quick thinking. But who knows what they would think of a woman who has ADHD and autism, that tends to obsess over fandoms, musicals, and books?‼️
Catherine Parr in Becoming Elizabeth felt like a Stock Female character from a Phillipa Gregory novel adaptation. I hated how that version of Catherine allowed Thomas Seymour to be anywhere near her daughter.
"I would ban fireworks....and cologne" bahaha!. Also, as someone from the US I can say that 1: people will still shot off fireworks even when illegal and it's not that they're illegal in certain states, it's that certain types are illegal in certain states also at certain times and areas depending on population and if it's a fire risk. Also as someone with sensory issues I relate at the cologne comment.
I'm looking forward to Firebrand! I hope they do Catherine Parr justice! There was a Philippa Gregory novel about Catherine titled Taming of The Queen! it was awful! Shocker!

Catherine Parr was the only wife married more than once and in fact four times. She’s also the only wife that ever wrote a book. A criticism I could have of her was her choice in men! Of course regarding Henry she had no choice. You can’t say no to the King!
Also the choice of her first two husbands. Her first husband kind of sucked mainly because her in laws were awful. Her second husband was actually a great guy albeit the age gap makes her a nurse type.
Here’s what I don’t get with the Seymour incident. How did such a clever and astute person miss this? Catherine was a loving and protective stepmother and Elizabeth was said to be her favorite so how did Seymour’s behavior towards the girl fall under her radar to the point where she’s sending Elizabeth away in what can only be seen as Catherine turning the blame on a stepchild she normally had taken so much pride in.
Even highly intelligent people can be blinded to the faults of.those they are madly in love with. Perhaps behind closed doors she tried and he; being an @$$ who was also a member of an incredibly influential family, ignored her and was aware that she would be blamed as much as he for anything happening to Elizabeth.
Thomas Seymour strikes me as the kind of Man who was very sneaky and underhanded; who probably took advantage of Catherine Parr being distracted by a stressful pregnancy and grasped any chances to Harrass Elizabeth.
@@eamonndeane587 right and I just have to wonder why Elizabeth or Kat Ashley never tried to tell Catherine what was going on. We know kat noticed some of this behavior and warned Seymour to stop it but even when he denied anything wrong, she could have just told Catherine what was going on. Or Elizabeth could have because they had been close. You would think that Elizabeth trusted Catherine knew her enough to know that she was telling the truth and she had a witness to back it up

The historian Claire Ridgeway discussed the locket ring portrait here. She agrees it's hard to know who the picture is of, though she does explain that where the hair looks "blonde" is actually where the paint has worn off so there's no clue as to what the original colour was. Her opinion was the costume was the fashion when Anne Boleyn was Queen, not when Katherine Parr was Queen or when Elizabeth I was young. So in her opinion Anne is most likely candidate. I had covid last year and it's made my asthma sensitive to perfumes, even those found in candles and incense
