In Croatia for instance there was a long standing arrangement between their national television and BBC that stretches way back to the federation days in the early 80es: there were British sitcoms there as far as I can remember, and plenty of them too. In fact, shows like OFAH, Bottom, MPFC, The Bill, Allo Allo and others achived such cult status over the years that if you would go there today and make any quote from OFAH, chance is that 95% of the population around 40 years of age would respond in a like fashion. I myself was raised on these, and I used to make all night Bottom binges with my lads every few months back in the day.
I'm from the United States and when I visited Toronto Canada saw Bottom on tv in 1999. I didn't know this show existed. I watched the Young Ones on MTV in the 80's and was excited to see that Rik and Ade were in another Series together.
