Yesterday I was like, I should write a comic about artistic swimming. And here I am. I still love the sport despite having left on a rough way, the world needs to know it’s beauty and understand the skills that go into it, since a lot of people are uninformed or think it is easy.
Thank you for commenting! Artistic Swimming is definitely a niche that's not being explored as much as it should. I'm excited to see how you can tell a story revolving around it! Best of luck! Keep us updated!
@@MonitorComics Ill be writing one on cricket - since its a barely known sport outside a few big countries. Hoping it has the same effect as haikyuu had on volleyball in Japan. Do you have any tips specifically for the drawing of sports manga - characters, action scenes, camera angles etc.?
@@Theblazingchars That's a great topic to focus on! Cricket definitely needs more representation! For drawing sports manga I think a more realistic style is commonplace. The only time I've seen sports manga stylized is like PingPong The Animation. For that reason I think it could be cool to really stylize your art so it stands out and is easier to draw dynamic poses. For the action scenes, it's definitely important to reference real cricket players playing the sport so you understand how their bodies should move while playing. I think sports manga are magical because of the execution. So like you mentioned, using unique camera angles can really help spice things up. With specific poses like sports poses, it's really easy to make them look stiff unintentionally. I'd try to study how to draw motion lines and distortion so you can make your action scenes more fluid and interpretational rather than completely anatomically accurate. Hope that helps! Best of luck!
@@Theblazingchars All good! Webtoons and Tapastics are the first that come to mind. There are definitely more obscure sites, I think I posted my first ever comic to a site called The Duck. To be honest, though, I'd try to stick to one of the mainstream ones because everyone's heard of Webtoons for the most part so it has the best discoverability. Social media sites like Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr are also cool places to host your comic tbh. By uploading regularly it's possible to grow an audience. Hope that helps!
Haikyuu is by far one the best sport manga series yet frm begining to end the plot and the characters and the development is just perfection. This series ending arc made me cry that no other sports manga was able to produce
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! I couldn't agree more! Haikyuu never fails to amaze me!! It's definitely going down in history as one of the greats!
Has someone who is trying to write a book with a sport theme its good to see i am in a good tracks, much of what are you saying i had already take it in consideration, thabks for the video, ill keep watching
I'm finally starting to draw out my own sports comic about high school track and field with a manga inspired art style. I've been writing out the story since my freshman year of university and since I graduated last May, I've been spending more time with it. I've already written ten chapters for my story and now I'm starting to get used to drawing out mock panels. Track and field has such a broad range of events so its going to be challenging for me to cover not only the running events but field events as well. Edit: Adding on further, I want to challenge the idea of what being on a team means as well. For me personally, being on a team didn't really feel that unifying especially cause I would shift between running the longer events or sprinting or with the team itself it just felt more separate between groups. I want to engage with the bridge between sprinters and long distance runners because to me, it felt like there was a lack of communication within these events.
I'm super glad to hear that! Track and Field is awesome! It'd be super cool to see a comic or manga about that! Best of luck!! Thanks for taking the time to check this video out and sharing!
I am writing a chess manga (yes chess is a sport) because I've always loved chess and think it would be really cool and my main inspiration is chihayafuru thats such a great anime
That's awesome to hear! Chess is definitely an intense sport, it'll be interesting to see how you execute it! Chihayafuru is definitely a great inspiration, I might recommend March Comes In Like A Lion as well! Best of luck!
@@MonitorComics thanks 😊 i will def check out march comes in like a lion. Also do you think its a good idea to make the main character a complete idiot? I think it'd be kinda funny to see a master chess player who's denser than a child
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! At the end of the day, you can decide how you tell your story! Whether or not that sells all depends on your unique execution! Some story patterns exist to try and help writers plan out their stories, but at the end of the day they're just suggestions! Hopefully that helps best of luck!
