The only disappointing aspect of that interview was that once again interviewers have failed to put those in charge of the changes to the schedule on the spot about a) what happens next year if it rains on Senior race day - there is no contingency day, and b) how is Senior race day going to be marshalled with any confidence in numbers when this year showed clearly that many marshals need to be going home on Saturday at the latest, and even those staying to Saturday could not man an evening-delayed race. When is someone going to get answers or are we going to continue to ignore the elephant in the room until it all goes tits up?
Couldn’t agree more. I understand it can’t be an easy job for him and I respect he has the riders interests at heart but if he won’t give the go ahead unless it’s dry or near to the new schedule without days allowing for catch up for bad weather just doesn’t work and will result in more senior cancellations. With modern weather prediction they should make earlier calls because it’s a pain in the arse for spectators too.
And I might add delaying races for safety based on weather conditions yet on the other hand not noticing the resurfacing at agos was causing loads of side cars to fire into walls seems a bit inconsistent in terms of safety
Interesting question at the end: Guy Martin or Michael Dunlop. What's the connection? Is it for the drama they caused Mr Thompson? And if so, why did Mr Thompson say Michael Dunlop? I guess I'll just have to ask Mr Plater myself in London on Thursday.
IOM TT is clearly in good hands. For something with this much history, the future is truly bright!!!
I have nothing but the utmost respect for Gary, and this podcast confirms it (not that it needed confirming). Great bloke.
So interesting that certainly was. Can't imagine the pressure building then onto the TT. Mind boggling.
Love the show, been listening from the start on Spotify....
Steve.... your the man....👍👍

What a nice bloke.
Great post.
Presumably he means 2015 was his best year, as there were 4 fatalities in 2016

this is the man who has bugged up the TT for years and brought it down to shit
