Rimuru will summon Diablo on next arc, which will be the first arc of season 2. Also, in the last episode of season 1 Diablo said "You finally summoned me and my own family got ahead of me". Meaning, when Rimuru was summoning a demon for the golem of Ramiris he was supposed to summon Diablo but someone else in his family beat him to it. That demon(I will not mention his name because it will be a spoiler) is now controlling the golem while Diablo stay in the demon realm waiting for Rimuru to summon him again.

The demon that was summoned for Ramiris is a highend demon which he has named Baretta. Baretta was actually in the same family line as Diablo which why Diablo has said the line with thought of "someone getting ahead to him from his family". Daiblo will be summoned together with other demons by Rimuru and yes he'll be basically a subordinate of the Rimuru. How and why? S2 hopefully will reveal it.
The demon Rimuru summoned for Demon Lord Ramiris received the name Beretta from Rimuru, and Diablo was annoyed cuz he wanted to be summoned by Rimuru, and Diablo later on becomes one of Rimuru's most devoted subordinates

I was honestly convinced that he was just an OC... I mean, LN only character. The design was different enough that making a connection based on that only was impossible... I entertained the thought for a moment, but let it go pretty quick. Nice to be proven wrong every now and then.
