It’s been a while since we uploaded an acoustic cover. These videos don’t get quite as much traction on the channel as they used to (we began seeing this trend several years ago), which is why we’ve done less of them over time. If you want to see more of these, let us know in the comments 👇🏻. Thanks!
DEFINITELY would love more acoustic covers. Also did you play the song slower than the original? If not what is the strumming pattern? I struggle with the strum pattern for this one
Yeah it’s slower. I didn’t play to a click but definitely did it slower than 130bpm. For the original tempo you could just do a simple D - DU - UDU pattern
I love these acoustic covers! The simplicity draws me back to the lyrics and back to God, which can sometimes I find hard to do, especially as a musician.
This sounds beautiful! All acoustic versions from this channel should be on Spotify to be honest! These acoustic versions help so much! As a worship leader of a small local church, we don’t have a huge team, it’s me and my guitar and my brother in the piano.. these covers teach so much! (Even tho I’m in Brazil, most songs we do are translated from the originals)
acoustic covers is why I first started watching your channel. it is the reason I always check back. I think you make practical covers to songs that sometimes I won't normally feel is doable for our church. so thank you!
Yes, Brian, please do more acoustic covers. I use them a lot to scale back a lot of the songs we use for church. I mean, Hillsong et al are great, but when you don't have 7 guitar players, 2 keyboards and 3 percussionists, you need to hear it a little simpler! On a similar note, as the only guitarist on our small team, I also appreciate your "by yourself" guitar tutorials. I really like to include the signature riff in the intros for songs and have learned a lot by watching you.
Yes, I use these to learn new music all the time. I'm a worship leader and I am a lead singer and rhythm guitar player like you. I need more of these please. I depend upon you.
Wandering into the night Wanting a place to hide This weary soul, this bag of bones And I tried with all my mind And I just can't win the fight I'm slowly drifting, oh vagabond And just when I ran out of road I met a man I didn't know And he told me That I was not alone He picked me up He turned me around He placed my feet on solid ground I thank the Master I thank the Savior Because He healed my heart He changed my name Forever free, I'm not the same I thank the Master I thank the Savior I thank God I cannot deny what I see Got no choice but to believe My doubts are burning Like ashes in the wind So, so long to my old friends Burden and bitter night You can't just keep them moving No, you ain't welcome here From now 'til I walk The streets of gold I'll sing of how You saved my soul This wayward son Has found his way back home
I like this stripped-down version. Several years ago I first discovered this channel and it was my first help learning songs when I joined the worship team. Listening to someone on acoustic can say a lot about the person leading a song, and I can see how you have grown musically. This is a great place for help and inspiration, whether how to learn those chords from a Hillsong piece, or how to reimagine a 90 mph song like this for mere mortals. Over time I have improved a lot, led worship for Youth and morning services, and have even taken up a second instrument on bass. I don't think the need for acoustic will ever go away, so I hope you continue to release covers like this in the future. Thanks for all the help you and others in your team have given me to get started!
Your videos inspired me to become a worship leader. Your tutorials helped me and continue to help me. Keep up brother worship tutorial is a blessing to all of us. From Cary, NC
Love these acoustic covers / play throughs. Our church's worship band is sometimes one six string and a singer, videos like this really help in our context.
Brian, I love your take on that song. Whenever we do that, I have to pull the slide out, and I’m not very good with it, but it’s fun anyway. I love your interpretation of that song.
That was great! Well played and sung… thank you for blessing us all with it!! More!!! EDIT: listening on my iPad, my wife sitting across the room, “I like that song!” Lol..
Great cover as always! Thanks to your videos I learned a lot of songs, you should upload more often of them! Can you please do a tuturial of "There is a king" by Elevation?
Thanks! It's a super popular and engaging song, but I feel like a smaller church (or single musician) might have trouble approaching it, so I wanted to really simplify and break it down on just acoustic.
@@zachyoung9272 same here. It'll be me on guitar/vocals and a piano next week. I think this version would do well as the church already knows the original version!
Hey Brian, I see you play your G and C chords without the 3rd in the bass but your diagrams still show the 3rd being fretted. I think losing the 3rd is a much nicer sounding chord and could be a nice tip to pass onto people coming to your videos to learn how to play a particular song. Just curious to the thinking behind displaying it a way you don’t actually play it? I guess it’s simpler for people just learning. Sorry if this has been addressed before, I’m fairly new to your channel
A lot of people, especially worship leaders play it like that. Me personally, I don’t like the sound of the C note in the bass on the G chord. All personal preference. Normally I play the C chord like the diagram. Kind of depends on the feel of the song too

@@noahhailey5 ha going back to my roots! Plaid shirts and acoustic covers 😂
@@worshiptutorials 😂 can’t ever go wrong with that that’s for sure!
Please do more, I lead worship myself but i dont have a praise team, its just me and my guitar, these covers help me a lot. Thank you Brian.
Second this.
I concur!
Me too but I also have Jesus and you do too.
Me too!
But good on u for remaining determined
I like the different take on the song. Well done. Less of the "running free" vibe and more of a "joyful reminiscing" feel as you listen.
Yes, please! We often shy away from doing songs like this because we can't duplicate the big band sound.
I love these acoustic covers! The simplicity draws me back to the lyrics and back to God, which can sometimes I find hard to do, especially as a musician.
AFAIC I tend to like the acoustic more as the years go by so keep going.
Brian, I've always loved your acoustic covers!!!!!
They're amazing and I really want to see more of this content
Thanks and blessings 🙏🙏
I second that!
LOVE. THIS. I’ve been playing along with this ALL DAY!

I'd love more of these - I just referenced one yesterday to learn a song. Very helpful and straightforward.

Because He healed my heart
He changed my name
Forever free, I'm not the same
I thank the Master
I thank the Savior
I thank God
I cannot deny what I see
Got no choice but to believe
My doubts are burning
Like ashes in the wind
So, so long to my old friends
Burden and bitter night
You can't just keep them moving
No, you ain't welcome here
From now 'til I walk
The streets of gold
I'll sing of how You saved my soul
This wayward son
Has found his way back home

This is OUTSTANDING! Absolutely love this song played this way!! GREAT Job!!!
Man you have know idea how much these promote the kingdom of God. Thank you. Even the simplest of covers is so helpful.
What a awesome play
Thanks! 1) you play in a key humans can sing in 2) your acoustic technique is sweet. 3) you don’t waste time explaining how a G chord is played!
Thank you!
I missed these videos! I'd love to see a Lesson video with this one as well.

Thanks be to Lord Jesus Christ! 😇✝️❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌🙌
love the acoustic covers!
I love hearing your natural country lean man - makes me wonder how you end up spending so much time on an EG rather than solo at a cowboy church! 😊

I love acoustic covers! I’d love to see you and Bradford do some acoustic duo covers.
This is definitely a song that I can only bear with an acoustic and soulful vocals backing it lol. Appreciate this take.

Can anyone explain what he does in the intro with his G chord
I have a worship audition tonight and I need to know what this key is please?
Hey Brian where do you have the anthem SL set here? Mic all the way up?

Yeah, I wouldn't try to cover it at 130bpm, either 😅
