We should as a civilisation celebrate a century of the life and works of a beautiful and talented lady, yet such kindness is ignored because in this decade there are those with no talent, skill or ability who succeed in convincing the human race that some subhuman has "talent", and there are quite literally hundreds of millions who believe them.
I felt sorry for the poor bloke sitting by himself so happy, drinking a pint, near the end.....seemed like he was happy enough, all by his lonesome, bless his soul...

Her feeling for her music has always been remarkable. She always establishes a mood vocally and physically. She is always on key, always has perfect intonation, has impeccable pronunciation and of course there is that catch in her voice. She also has a remarkable range. She certainly had a gorgeous figure and wore clothes fabulous. She wasn't classically beautiful but there's no question the camera loved her. And that flawless complexion!
One must remember that although this is from a record, those old records are still live recordings. As a total non-singer in an auto-tuned world -- who can barely leave a decent voice mail without wanting to delete it -- I'm always amazed that someone can have pitch and range like this on a single take.
Is there anyone who can compare to Vera Lynn? What an incredible and beautiful voice! She has such a beautiful and plaintive quality to her singing. They don't make singers like her anymore. A true star!
If you live in Los Angeles, California there is one place like this. It's called the Cicada Club with live big bands, food, drinks, and dancing like back in the 20-40's.
I agree with Eddy2730...I love this music. Reminds me of happier days when the country pulled together and family values were very meaningful. I was a very young child during the wwII days, but brings back such wonderful memories. I too have a tear in my eye. The really greats are gone and so are those days.
After the rain, The sun will dry all your tears Blue skies appear After the rain Your window pane, May show a world that is gray Clouds drift away After the rain For the world is always brighter When its weathered a heavy storm And our hearts are always lighter After teardrops have had to fall Sunshine again Will greet the world with a smile Life seems worthwhile After the rain Thunder and falling rain Are driving us all in the same But when it's done The sun will soon be shining Again After the rain... Dry all your tears Blue in the sky soon appears After the rain... Your window pane May show a world that is gray Clouds drift away After the rain For the world is always brighter When its weathered a heavy storm And our hearts are always lighter After teardrops have had to fall Sunshine again Will greet the world with a smile Life seems worthwhile After the rain
Does anybody else think that a great singer of the next generation, the beautiful Judith Durham, has something in common with Vera Lynn? Something about both the tone quality/beauty of their voice, as well as their technique and control.
Yeah I think people get this type of experience more in coffee houses (with live music) nowadays more than in bars (even those with live music) Just a more refined sensibility.
Sadly, they are not commercially available. Rhythm Serenade and We'll Meet Again have been shown on BBC television in the UK within the past 20 years, but her last film, One Exciting Night, was known some years ago to be in serious need of preservation.
Very rare to see video footage of her singing, one of my all time favourite vocalists - listening to her flawless technique really started me wanting to sing. I was lucky enough to be able to pay tribute her tutoring recently while fronting a uk based dance band - hopefully I did her proud... Do come and check it out fellow Vera fans on my page! x
so the man sitting down is actually an actor in this movie and also wearing a kilt, I'm getting closer to finding out his name. could be Ronald Ward, or Donald Gray,
I saw Vera at a function for the RAFA in Manchester, we were on the front row. I was trying to eat a meal but she kept looking at me every time I got a chip half-way to my lips. I must have been a very handsome 18 year old because she kept singing to me and smiling and my chips went cold! Lovely lady with a lovely old song
Vera Lynn, Finest singer of her generation, if not all time! I MUST see her 3 movies, Doe's anyone know where one might find/buy them? I will not rest until I've found them. This clip may be from "We'll Meet Again"(1942) 10 Plus
All those in favour of Vera Lynn to be back on the radio
yes
@@dongrosario3526 I don't think she will be back on the radio any time soon.
@@asadpanthersfan6257 a true shame!
it should be a radio station with 30s and 40s only music
Back in the day when singers could actual sing
Her singing carries the heart of a whole generation and beyond

I'll be forever in love with Vera Lynn
After the rain,
The sun will dry all your tears
Blue skies appear
After the rain
Your window pane,
May show a world that is gray
Clouds drift away
After the rain
For the world is always brighter
When its weathered a heavy storm
And our hearts are always lighter
After teardrops have had to fall
Sunshine again
Will greet the world with a smile
Life seems worthwhile
After the rain
Thunder and falling rain
Are driving us all in the same
But when it's done
The sun will soon be shining
Again
After the rain...
Dry all your tears
Blue in the sky soon appears
After the rain...
Your window pane
May show a world that is gray
Clouds drift away
After the rain
For the world is always brighter
When its weathered a heavy storm
And our hearts are always lighter
After teardrops have had to fall
Sunshine again
Will greet the world with a smile
Life seems worthwhile
After the rain
Beautiful and inspiring lyrics, who could sing this song with more sincerity and moving accents than the great, lovely Vera Lynn ?
This song is so heartwarming
I had completely forgotten this song.
What a sad day...
I've just recently discovered artists from my parent's generation such as Vera Lynn and Deanna Durbin. I love this music so much. Thanks for posting.
I think that I've got it: it's the tenderness and the youth in her voice which made her so special!
One of my favorite songs. Rest In Peace queen 💔💔💔😢
She has a nice voice! A unique tone that will rarely be found in modern music
Vera Lynn just love her such a treasure.
those days were so much better so enjoyable to hear vera lynn
It gives me hope in this song to know after the rain the sun will dry all the tears❤️

Right you are, Onion: The finest female voice ever heard.
One of many songs that sustained people through war.
What an amazing woman, truley one of a kind
Beautiful voice and a beautiful lady
A voice and a control of it like no other.

I remember listening to this song during my first two college semesters
You know if there were any nightclubs like this, I'd go out. but you won't catch me barflying in any of these modern bars.

@VoodooVelma vera is still great! number one last year and her new autobiography is a great read.
This could be used at goodbye parties, funerals, and TH-cam tribute videos
Also I think even nowadays there are sophisticated jazz clubs in some cities which are somewhat like this.
