  • In this Basecamping adventure we return to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. This time we pitch up at the Langcliffe caravan park in the south of the Dales. Over three nights and four days we hike into Catrigg Waterfall, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn, Malham Cove, Victoria cave and the Attermire Scar.

    Amazing Vlog. Love your style of editing. I can recommend for your next visit to our beautiful county is the spectacular Janet's Foss Waterfall close to Malham. Shame you missed it as it's only a 5 min walk from the road entrance to Gordale Scar 👍

      I’m totally smitten with the Yorkshire Dales. Beautiful. Thanks for the tip. I will check that out next time as there is loads more hiking I want to do in the area.

    Another really enjoyable and informative vlog. We appreciate the time and effort that you put into each and every episode. A great balance of site information, hiking routes and information regarding using the base camp supports beautiful camera work and drone shots. We discovered your channel only recently as we are considering purchase of a caravan to use for very similar trips. As you mentioned in this vlog we are attracted to the idea of having a van as a base and the car for exploring the area
    We are looking closely at the base camp as it seems to tick all of our boxes and we like the more relaxed camping style of the vehicle
    Thanks again for what you are doing!

      There are Basecamp’s over on NZ. I’ve seen posts on Facebook. With the landscapes to discover on the islands a Basecamp would be epic!

    We have been watching your videos for a while now and always look forward to your adventures. We decided to return to caravaning after watching you and bought a lightweight Eriba Triton and go on adventures of our own. We have had two trial trips to Exmoor which have been great thanks to you inspiring us to get going again in early retirement. Keep up the great videos. Cheers.Steve&Wen

    That was an excellent vlog Nick we really enjoyed it. The Dales is on our to visit list. Just back from Keswick and North Berwick. I have to agree that a fully serviced pitch is the way to go for us we had it at North Berwick if we go back to Keswick I think I would go to Castlerigg Hall. Castlerigg farm was really nice but we felt exposed especially when storm Betty hit.
    The Dales look amazing fantastic vlog mate look forward to the next one 👍🏻

      Castlerigg Hall is certainly more sheltered and overall a higher level quality of touring park. I personally preferred the Castlerigg Farm as the views are spectacular and overall felt more outdoorsy. Respect to you guys for sitting out a storm there though💪🏻. I’ve always driven past the Dales to head to the lakes but I’m really smitten with the Dales now. If it wasn’t for the Basecamp I would have never ventured there!

      Nick if it wasn’t for your vlogs we would never have Basecamped and went to these fantastic places. So a big thanks from me and Susan We enjoyed our walk to Walla crag but my arthritis in my knees stops me from doing more walking which I miss a lot.

    It is years since we have been to the Dales and your video reminded me just how much we love that area. Now we have our own Basecamp 2 to explore them from! One question, how do you know what the nose weight should be? Anyone out there know?

    Another top quality adventure that wouldn’t be out of place if it was on tv. I’m constantly amazed at the effort you put in to making your videos and think you should rename your channel to The adventures of One Man and his Dog :-) and use Jack Hargreaves Out of Town theme tune from the 70’s. Your shows give me a similar relaxing feel with an obvious modern twist 😂

    Can I ask what bin you use on the back door ?

      We picked the bin up from Lakeland. A Google search for caravan and motorhome bins should reveal something similar

      I bought them from Amazon (where else😂). There are many different styles so maybe shop about for a cheaper version but I went for these as they pack down flat and easy to store in the locker:-

      I use Outdoor active. It’s brilliant. I plan all my hikes on it and then to navigate the routes. I also download the GPX files from outdoor active and upload to my Garmin watch.

      @@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales thanks! I've been using OS maps but it's glitchy. Don't know why Google maps doesn't have walking trails?!

    Hi love your vlogs and interested in your basecamp journey. We have a 7.3m caravan towed by our vw campervan. We have been looking at downsizing to a basecamp 2 as there is just the 2 of us with 2 labradors. Do you find the towing experience is good with the basecamp? Thanks 👍

    • @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
      @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Basecamp is our first caravan and towing experience so it took time to get comfortable with towing. Now after two years I mostly forget it’s on the back of the car! Very easy to tow. Almost effortless.

    Hi. I am looking to buy a tv for my basecamp. I am thinking of 19 maybe 22 inch. What size would you recommend?

    • @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
      @FlyCampCaravanNorthWales  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a 24” and it’s perfect. Only issue is I can’t fold back the bracket all the way back with the TV on. I originally had a 19” and I found that a notch small to watch.
