thanks for these inputs. but around 6:00, when you substract, I think there is something to do (which I missed) because in my case, the substraction really substract too much I got the chessboard visible in the background as if the alpha was too small.
Thanks a lot Bileam! A tip that i found, if you put Nearest Pixel in Smoothness and Viewer Smoothness on the Common options from Displace the total effect it's better.
Great tutorial Bileam! I found with my photos that each benefited from a different set of parameters so I created a DAT table and then as well as switching images I could set the best parameters for each picture from my table. I used a similar approach with the particle image reveal too.
hey thanks so much for this! is there a way to make it continuous? (in my case it's a png file and the image goes away through the borders, eventually fading completely)
Had the same issue - found this response below: "Add a transform at the end with alpha set to 1 and "comp over background color" on." This solved it for me.
@@patrickwilkie5576 Thanks bro for the tip I'll use that and here's the link of the touchdesigner they have uploaded instagram.com/p/B-z3Ss7H5fi/?igshid=1myqz9xzsz62o I wanted to know can you make a tutorial on art like this please it will be great to learn from you . 😊✌🏼
Great stuff, thanks!! I just discovered TD yesterday. I've been watching a whomp ton of your vids. Going thru the beginner series today. This is such a freakin' awesome effect. But a thought: How would one make it fade out after a few frames, maybe a second max. And/or fade in. Constantly happening but not forming the long lines. Just smoothly fading away after a moment.
Thank you for this tutorial!!!!Umm...I think this is a dumb question, but i don't know how to play back from the start so the image can sort again. is there any shortcut or something?
Im still confused on how to attach the keyboard in to the feedback since when I click on pulse non of the options show up. What else am I supposed to press on?
Hi! Super new to this. My feedback loop is only running when i press the '1' on my keyboard to activate the keyboard chop. So I'm not getting a continuous pixelsorting effect like you, but only seeing it when pressing the '1' key. What am i doing wrong?
Thank you for wonderful tutorial. But I got some problem at last. I can't subtract the original image. I did use the subtract TOP, but it has some grid overlay after using the "Subtract" TOP. Pls advise the solution.
The subtraction makes the alpha channel appear which is depicted as the grid. Use a transform at the end, set the alpha to 1 and turn on comp over bg color. hope this helps!
thanks for this amazing tutorial! i was wondering how to animate the effect because doesn't update when you change parameters, like a loop, it's stop..., something like this instagram.com/p/B7h4LkNHcJF/
I've only discovered this technique a few days ago, there's quite a few things that need to be figured out. For this example you could maybe composite a noise inside the loop.
You're always so reliable! this channel was mentioned in a my college design class as "the best tutorial for TD" . ---Thanks from Japan
Thanks so much for sharing, that's amazing :)
We gonna add an add and then we gonna add something that adds to the add
You are the best!!!

answering to myself: we just had to use 32-bit float RGBA at Pixel Format output on Fit TOP node, or something that is more than 8 bit.
@@julienbayle thanks so much for this, i had the same problem!
Also! If you change the horizontal and vertical source in the Displace TOP you can influence how the pixel sorting looks :)

Thank you for uploading, super useful for learning TouchDesigner
You spark a lot of joy. Thanks for that!
Thanks for letting me know ♥️ means a lot to hear!
i'm not able to connect the keyboard in to the feedback..no ^ symbol.. can anyone help me out..
Killin it Bileam :) Awesome work
hello :) thank you for your video! when I add the keyboardin, everything stops and nothing works anymore, I don't understand...
Hi, love this video. I'm expending hours trying to do it but I will got it! thanks
How do I export it as like a movie file/mp4? I see I can export it to movie but the screen is just black : ( thanks in advance
i thought the title said pixel snorting
That looks great! But how would you do that using Sops?
Hi thanks for the tutorial, there is a way to have the main image stay for longer on the screen before it starts producing the effect?
very good, very ease to understand! thanks!
when i drag the add op back to the feedback op i don't see the arrow, how do i resolve this?
when I add the keyboard in, everything stops and nothing works anymore, do you know how can I solve this problem?
hey thanks so much for this! is there a way to make it continuous? (in my case it's a png file and the image goes away through the borders, eventually fading completely)
My feedback keyboard in only works when I'm selecting the feedback node :(
Me too, did you figure out the reason? I kept trying but it seem I'm missing something!
Awesome! Can you select some areas or colors? Right now looks creepy!
when I connect the 'level' to the 'subtract' it makes the whole thing like transparent. I can see the tiles in the background, not sure why..
Had the same issue - found this response below: "Add a transform at the end with alpha set to 1 and "comp over background color" on." This solved it for me.
dudeeee I love you
Nice tutorial!
Hi! Thank you for this tutorial. I love it. Is it somehow possible to make it responsive to audio?
Check out my video "make anything audio reactive"!
@@elekktronaut Thank you!
Can you make a tutorial on interactive art using a camera , so when we move our hand the visuals should also react .
Please it's a request
you could use this exact tutorial and just swap the imageIN for a videoSource aka camera?
@@patrickwilkie5576 Thanks bro for the tip I'll use that and here's the link of the touchdesigner they have uploaded

Press 'pulse' on the feedback. And you can connect the keyboard with the "keyboard in" chop and reference it to the pulse.
@@elekktronaut Thank you soooooooo much!!!👍👍👍

Drag the channel from the keyboard in onto the pulse and see if that works :)

Maybe try referencing the keyboard to the reset instead of the pulse.
@@elekktronaut Thank you for the reply. Maybe I'll just try to redo it all from scratch at some point :)
Any manner to keep this looping?
how do i save it as a loop?
Muchas gracias por compartir!
thank you very much! so cool!!
When I connect sub1 and level1 image became transparent, what can I do for fix it?
Add a transform at the end with alpha set to 1 and "comp over background color" on.

Is it possible to change Z dimensional displace weight somehow?
only way I know how is to add a Transform and use the Scale options for that illusion
