I'm officially a certified coder!! 😁 Passed my 2nd attempt exam today and I know I owe some of my success to you!! Thank you so much for all the knowledge and help!! You are amazing keep up the great content!! ❤
I am currently doing the Preppy course, so far, so good! Started in November, got my computer also, as part of the course and they offer discounts, so took advantage of it and I am very happy I did!❤
Also I see all of preppy’s text booked are 100% online so how do you bring them for your exam??? Most coders have physical books and those don’t seem to be included.
Preppy offers eBooks, which is where the industry is moving towards. The AAPC is planning to allow eBook usage for the exams sometime in 2025. Preppy does offer you the option to purchase the paper books for examination purposes since we're still transitioning over the adoption of digital tools in the industry. Because Preppy is a billing and coding program, and not everyone has the same certification goals, they do not include things like AAPC membership to keep the costs down for everyone. If you have any further questions or concerns, reach out to help@preppy.org, they have an amazing customer service team that can help you out.
I went to an accredited university for Medical Billing and Coding and I didn't get my certification due to the fact that my instructor held us to the end with the books and I needed new books to sit for the exam (Ahima). I got discouraged and didn't pursue the certificate. It's been 2 years, now.
Practicode is a module with a bunch of coding cases that you code from scratch. It does not count as actual experience but does help remove 1 year of apprenticeship upon completion. An externship is where you are working at a real company doing tasks for them.
They're all linked in the description! // MEDICAL CODING BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS 2025 CPT - amzn.to/4g5ommO 2024 ICD-10-CM - amzn.to/4iv47k5 2024 HCPCS - amzn.to/47eHjOz Step-By-Step Medical Coding Textbook 2025 - amzn.to/3VDtoPo Step-By-Step Medical Coding Workbook 2025 - amzn.to/3ZwQckW Medical Terminology & Anatomy for Coding - amzn.to/3njDlx7
Technically speaking, you could apply right this minute to take the exam and sit down for it tomorrow. There's no requirements to take the CPC other than be an AAPC member and pay the exam fee. There is no "accreditation" of educational institutes such as that you would need to complete a certain program or have certain tasks fulfilled before sitting for any AAPC exam. Having said that, with Preppy and a little focused exam prep like a practice exam (which I would recommend with any program), you'll be prepared for the CPC.
Hi ma'am, I'm your new subscriber from India and I have 5 years of experience in medical coding, with CPC certification. I would like to know your opinion regarding freelancing medical coding job opportunities. Thank you🙏

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the course!
Signed up with Preppy in September and glad I did!
Can I asked your opinion on the MedCerts certification for coding and billing? I found it in Coursera Thanks
No opinion on that one.
Also I see all of preppy’s text booked are 100% online so how do you bring them for your exam??? Most coders have physical books and those don’t seem to be included.

What is the difference in a externship and practicode??
Practicode is a module with a bunch of coding cases that you code from scratch. It does not count as actual experience but does help remove 1 year of apprenticeship upon completion. An externship is where you are working at a real company doing tasks for them.
Good Morning can you give us an update about the books you like to use; Especially the terminology books 🙏🏼.

Hi Victoria. After completing the Preppy Medical Codinh Course, can I immediately apply to take the AAPC CPC Exam?

Have you heard much about Ashworth college? If you have what are your pros and cons? I’m not sure if I’m allowed to ask these questions, so sorry

I use the Preppy course.
When do u think is the best Time in the year to give CPC exam so I can get job easily?
No time is better than any other.
