Perfectionism killed a musician in me, and only last few months i came up with the same thought as you, helping me go back to do what i love.
I'm glad you got back to doing what you love. I only recently started doing music again too. When I was a teenager, writing and singing felt so much easier. Now as an adult, I'm plagued with overthinking but I'm slowly getting better at pushing through that. Thanks for the comment!
Yeah the analatics is a abusive system. TH-cam wants you to make money and to do that they push your statistics in your face and constantly recomends you to improve. I make youtube videos for fun but the analytics has made me afraid to do anything aside from minecraft beta content. I feel you pepper
that mindset is very much a mood tho. sometimes you just gotta fake it til you make it and keep going even when you dont necessarily think youre ready. a lot of things you said here were super based. unfortunately i let those views dictate motivation sometimes too, but ultimately i wanna do letsplays and stuff so thats what ill stick with even when they do get lesser views. i think ultimately most channels start making videos doing things they want to do, then as the numbers come along then you slowly do less of what you want to do, and more what other people wanna see. nice tower and gl with vids :D
Glad you can relate but also sorry you struggle with some of the same issues Mr. Juice69. Your series actually has me wanting to try and do some 404 videos soon so I might do some streams of that in the near future.
interesting stuff. for me the challenge is creating stuff which won't necessarily have an audience. Recognising that just having that creative outflow is valuable in itself and that creations don't need to be seen to be worth it.
I think the tower looks awesome, I'm sure it looks really cool at night too! As for your other commentary, I think it's very common for content creators to get wrapped up in the numbers. I hope you can get to a place where you can truly enjoy the stuff you make because you really are so talented!! Even if you don't have a set schedule, I think it's better to work at a pace that allows your creativity to come naturally and in a way that makes you feel fulfilled! All of this to say I hope you have some grace with yourself and create what you like!! :)
i obviously dont know you personally or anything, but i wanted to say that based on what you talked about (especially towards the end of the video) i find your words very relatable. ive recently been going through similar feelings, and something that has helped me a lot is to try my best to focus on what i want to do for myself to benefit and grow mentally, and filter out the parts that make me overthink. (not in a toxic way or anything, i still want criticism.) additionally, ive discovered that sharing the things that i enjoy for my own benefit with my friends has helped me a TON. i know not everyone has the privilege of having super close friends that they always feel comfortable with, but sometimes taking a first step into an honest, uncomfortable yet healthy topic is the solution to getting there. i have a close friend that has his shit together entirely (or at least seems like it), and i look up to him; i ask him about how he does certain things, we have conversations about how to sort of "optimize" how we learn, etc. this is sort of turning into a meaningless ramble and it all sounds weird, im just gonna send this as it is to avoid continuing and deleting it eventually out of embarrassment.. but i hope it makes sense to you the same way im trying to get it out with the disorganized bits of information i was able to put together lol
wow the part where you were talking about the OCD side of things really resonated with me. while i havent technically been diagnosed with OCD, i am diagnosed with ADHD as well as being bipolar, and those two tend to have some overlap with the difficulties of OCD. i just wanna say i relate to how you feel about feeling pressured to make something worthwile, i don't make content in the traditional sense yet, im editing montages for my friends and people within my game's community, but being the newest editor in the community definitely has me feeling anxious alot of the time. there are some really talented people doing what i do, and am constantly comparing myself to them while trying to make myself stand out and be different and its one of the hardest balances i've ever tried to find. striving to be unique is so rewarding once you've accomplished what you set out to do, but one of the hardest when actually trying to do it. i think you're already doing a wonderful job as it is, i have yet to see a video like this in regards to minecraft, and anything adjacent to that, my time is usually spent watching let's plays, mostly of Dallasmed65's world, as well as others through the years, but you seem unique as it is. try not to think too hard about it, i know that's easier said than done, but its all you can really do! keep it up

From the way you were describing things, you very well could, i could see a lot of my own struggles in what you were talking about haha. and yup you nailed it! i know i'm progressing and getting better, but as soon as i watch a video of someone who has it all figured out, it makes my accomplishments seem so small by comparison. understanding that there's a clear separation and that they didnt get there in a single day is key. and yep! i personally can never stick to a world for more than like a month so i get jealous seeing people like y'all who have amazing worlds 😂

(this one is the first one im using as personal rn) its hard to know what people like and keep doing the same content all over again because you fear or know your auditory might not like the new stuff you want to make. and its hard and discouraging to see how disliked some of your stuff can be, even if u had put all your heart in it. im sorry you feel that why and i dont think i can really any advice, but i can relate to you nonetheless...
