  • Colt shows us his 1986 Ford F350 that he inherited from his grand father. This past fall he spent 2 months converting it to a MEGACAB and to a Dually. Check out his TH-cam channel here for tons of in depth videos of him working on it and several other projects. / @highostablegarage

This is really awesome, I’ve always really liked the Estima Hybrid and even wanted to import one to the US way back, which is impossible. I wanted to point out though, about the CVT, Toyota hybrids use the 2 motor E-CVT which is just a planetary gear set that gets power from 2 motor/generators and the gas engine. It bears nothing in resemblance to the cone & belt type of CVT as you stated that Nissan uses or some of Hondas earlier hybrids, or gas cars that use CVT’s. Toyota’s E-CVT has around 22 moving parts it’s in planetary gear system that are permanently engaged so there’s much less wear and tear overall. Hence why Toyota hybrids are used and abused daily by Uber drivers and taxi fleets. Super simple yet robust and elegant in the way it operates and saves its owner money. Even the regenerative braking system helps save on brake pads and rotors. Since the gas engine isn’t being used all of the time, it’s easier on the oil, engine filter, and spark plug wear and tear, etc.

Two things, one: he is correct that all wheel drive wasn’t an option for these trucks but it wasnt innovated in the late 1990’s/early 2000’s, everyone with a 70’s era Ford, GM or Dodge with an NP203 transfer case knows this…. And two: the term “slush box” is and has always been used to describe an automatic transmission, manual transmissions like this T19 four speed are called GEAR Boxes. … truck is absolutely cool as hell, I’d love to have something like this. Hopefully a Dana 60 is in future plans for it

If one can do the welding to make this, could have definitely squared off the doors.

Could be hinge pins and alignment 🤷🏻‍♂️ or the fact that he said he built this in freezing temperatures in an unheated shop in 2 months time? It's not a parking lot princess or a mall cruiser.

Next leave the engine in the rear truck, and make it a cab over the empty engine compartment
