  • King Maegor Targaryen's war with the faith that lasted all of his reign can really be defined with two battles early in the conflict. You have the minor skirmish at the battle of stonebridge, the the much larger that involved the king with the battle of the great fork of the blackwater river. This video takes a look into Maegor's war with the faith and what lead to it.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

As much as I despise Maegor, I will agree that him stamping out the Faith Militant was necessary. Religious fanatics are not ones who can be reasoned with and are a major threat to any kind of stability.
I was initially curious as to why House Stark and the North never involved themselves in this, but I eventually came to assume that they saw neither side as worthy of support; the Faith Militant had been trying to conquer the North for thousands of years and Maegor was a usurper, kinslayer and violator of guest right all in one.

If you watched HOTD, then you see just how slimy and evil the Hightowers are (they also likely control maesters, fot7, etc). Exactly why Maegor did what he did. Maybe he was cruel, but he was a warrior and his house was at war with Hightowers and their proxies virtually his entire adult life and that war continued on with Hobert/Otto/Alicent. If I had a dragon and I had the richest family in the realm waging a cold war against my family, I know what I would do. Make that cold war a fiery one real fast, just like Maegor did.
