  • Flying the new Cirrus Vision Jet G2, a single engine private jet. Ride along as we take off, try slow flight, test the ESP (electronic stability & protection) by overbanking the jet, and more. What is this personal jet like to fly, is the Cirrus Vision Jet complex, find out in this flight review.
    I fly a Cirrus SR22 so the cockpit layout is familiar to me, but this was my first time flying a Cirrus Jet SF50, in fact my first time flying any jet aircraft. Enjoy this video flying the Generation 2 Cirrus Vision Jet and let me know what you think of this personal aircraft in the comments below.

    I fly this plane in x-plane, and it's my favorite by a long-shot because of the visibility and simple instrumentation. I realize that I am in a sim, but the handling is incredible, and I understand that they did a great job emulating it. Not the best looking plane, but a small price to pay for a 7-passenger jet at $2m.

    Nice jet. Though I heard it‘s a bit underpowered and needs an unusually long runway. Is it true?

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  4 ปีที่แล้ว +219

      The airport we were flying at was a 1430m (4692ft) runway and we were airborne just under 2/3 of the way down. There were only 3 of us onboard though and we weren't fully fuelled. I haven't seen performance charts for MTOW take-off roll but I feel the sweet spot for this aircraft is 3-4 people onboard and not too much extra weight. For single pilot IFR though, this would be a lot of fun, a great business travel tool.

    Great video Stef! I bet it was an incredible experience to log your first jet hours! The ST22T is my somewhat realistic dream plane... The vision jet is the pipe dream! Would be incredible to get up and over some weather, and not have to worry about carrying oxygen.

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah a real treat to fly. You're right it would be nice to have the option to get over some weather cruising up to 31K in the SF50. If you're looking at an SR22T though that would get you fairly high too but yes with oxygen of course. Or you sit where I do, around 10-15K with oxygen, which is still good 95% of the time.

    Get Cirrus to sponsor your RTW adventure with one of those babies, Stef. 😀👍
    Never ceases to amaze how much the tech involved helps pilots have a far less stressful flying experience in jets rather than prop aircraft. As long as one learns to stay ahead of the aircraft!

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah even if you forget turbine vs piston, any aircraft with a FADEC control takes workload away from the pilot. It's an expensive toy, but flies well. And not sure about that sponsorship, but Cirrus if you're reading this I'm happy to talk... 😂

    Flying private is only a luxury if you are safe. As commercial flight prices continue to rise without increasing their safety standards, flying in a private jet seems less unrealistic. Regardless of whether you’re looking to impress clients or go on vacation, safety should always be the number one concern. Flying without fear is certainly worth an investment.

    They are working to educate pilots on how to prevent or minimize these situations because the
    minimum speed criteria and instruction is generally not covered in normal training.
    Aviation 101 also has a downloadable guide fro pilot education.
    You might want to give it a go .

    Your smile says it all. Awesome opportunity, Stef. Is it recommended to have some turbine-time before transitioning to the VisionJet, or could you go straight to jet training from an SR22? CAVU 😎👍

      The SF50 requires a type rating to fly, but Cirrus will provide the training for that when you purchase one. But honestly after flying an SR20 and SR22 I'd say the transition would be pretty straightforward. Flying the plane is pretty simple, it would be the systems and exception handling that would take a little time to learn.

    Hi Stefan, awesome flight. Really interested in purchasing a SR22 and starting a similar TH-cam channel. Also, curious about your exclusive membership.. what are some of the perks for joining and how many other members currently take part in this?

    Fantastic flying machine. I fly the G2 a lot on X plane now. IFR as well as VFR. I hope some day i can trade the trusty 172 for an SF50. Even if only for one flight. 😀

    Great video. Would love one of these. Did you find you had to be 'ahead of the plane' a lot more than the SR22, or was it not that much different?

    Seen some interesting comparisons between this and the Eclipse 550 and this comes off second best, particularly on running costs.

      Yeah, but you're talking a twin engine as opposed to a single engine.

    you need to put a turbo Sr22 engine in EYZ, and nice 12 blade hartzell prop okay LOL 5 blade :) then I wana see how high and fast you can fly. like do series how long does it take to fly to melb> Brisbane. Melb to Perth. melb to Adelaide etc. they wld be cool vids I think

    Hopefully I’m fortunate to fly this ...Though I’m transitioned on the SR20 I might never own a Cirrus .. but hope I can get to fly the jet at least once

    Another awesome video, thanks Stef!! I would love to fly a machine like this one day! On that note, id be keen to see the licensing process of getting an endorsement to fly single engine turbine aircraft? An idea for a future video perhaps?! Stay Safe, cheers

    Do you know if Cirrus is going to come out with a long range fuel tank option? Maybe without those third row of seats they can add more fuel tanks to increase its range past that 1250nm.

    I've been watching some of these Vision Jet videos, and have had one question in mind that you guys pretty much answered. I know all about top speed and altitude, but I've been wondering the opposite: What's the thing like at SLOW speed? I'm not really talking about landing speed... but more along the lines of slow, relatively low-altitude flying. Of course one of the major selling points for the plane is the ability to fly high and fast, but there are gonna be times when it would just be a lot more fun to go as low as legally allowed, while also keeping the speed at a slow (but safe) speed. Think just calmly cruising around sight-seeing. So I had been wondering if it was possible to fly low and slow (like in a small prop plane) if the mood struck you. And from what I gathered in part of this video, it seems that yes it IS possible. So, what would you say... as low as 100 or so (considering variables of course)?

      Turbine engines don't really like low altitude though. They gulp the fuel.

    That would be a great aircraft to add to you “Fleet”. It is definitely a great jet plane for the money. I wonder what the sales volume is on this bad boy.

      Haha, if I add it to the fleet I might be removed from the family! I know at the time we recorded this when the jet first arrived in Australia they'd already sold quite a few. They have back orders in the years rather than months from what I've been told.

    The only benefit of flying a piper warrior with 160hp is that the p-factor or left nose yaw tendency is so much less then in a piston prop that has 215 or 300hp. Guess everything has its trade offs.
