I always wanted a lego castle when I was a kid in the 90's but cant afford one and still can't ... I'll live through you 😄

I have one of these from childhood and one from a lot but it's probably missing some figures. It's definitely one of my favorites.

Me and my brother go this set for Christmas. It really is an awesome set. I remember getting the gate stuck all the time pulling it up and down. Love it

This is the castle I got on my birthday back in 1991, I was 7. I played with it a lot, I lost some items and weapons, many plumes and shields were broken, however I was able to purchase new shields and weapons. I also added small touches to it. Still sitting on my shelf

It cost me 108.25, I worked all summer to pay for it. I have had it displayed in my living room for over 20 years.

I LOVE this castle. I had it as a kid. Today, I only have some parts left, which is a bummer, but I create my own MOCs using them. For example, I created a compatible horse stable for the Black Monarch's castle. If you're interested, pay a visit to my channel.
In any case, the design of the Black Monarchs castle is easily among the Top 3 of classic castle sets! No. 1 being the Black Knight's Castle for me. No. 2 would be the Black Monarch's Castle and No. 3 the Royal Knight's Castle.

Another vintage, classic but awesome set! Don't think I've ever actually seen this built so a great one to cover! This was probably a prime back in it's time in the late 80's, and likely a major Christmas kind of gift haha :D

It was the biggest set we had at home as kids. I have set the bricks apart to build it again next week. Maybe I will do an alternate build instead. Yours looks in much better condition though. Mine has a lot of yellowing. We played with it a lot.

Glad you did this set. I lost all my instruction manuals to my childhood collection in a flood a long time ago. I knew I had a big castle set, and after watching this, it was definitely this one. All the parts would still be in my collection, so maybe I should get the instruction manual and reassemble it. But I'm scared to see what the instructions go for on BrickLink. :)

I Had This When It Came Out Back In 88. I Like The Color Scheme. I Made A Car Livery Using That Color Scheme In Assetto Corsa Competizione. I Called My Racing Team "Gloved Monarch" AKA "Consistently Inconsistent".

don't think numbered bags came around until late 90s. Also, I always love the barrels of weapons sitting around on these sets. 🤣😅. Congrats on growing your collection!

Cool vid, just bought this set straight from Denmark. Lego put much more minifigures back in the day. Today you will get 5 at max from Castle set this size.

I've always dreamt about this one growing up :) Maybe one day... The castle they are putting out in the Creator line didn't win me over, so I won't get that one, but if they issued a real classic castle again, I would buy right away

This is THE castle. It sold here in Ireland for around £43 (around 60 US or so) at the time. I think I was around 5 when this came out! Still have it! :)

Did you ever connect it to 6059?
I used to connect 6059 and 6034 as they were both Black Knight sets.

I got this set in a lot together with the Weapons Wagon from Western and the Wolfpacktower as well as many figures and accessories. It's not complete yet (misses the printed flag, one knight and 3 slopes) but all horses are there with barding in perfect condition, which is amazing.
Nice Review as always Stacey! :-)

Happy to see someone else appreciate this set as me 🙂
Always hearing about the second BK castle but this one has.. TWO brown horses (kind of joking.. 😂😉 but not totally, it is one thing that I say comparing to the other one, and just this I see that you too like them 😉)
I think the scalemail are more rare than the other two (red with blue or black arms) I also prefer them, had less of those 2 also (just one of each where I had two red with black arms and 5 red with blue arms)
And we have 4 (FOUR !) of each where in the second castle we had just 3 red, blue arms and 3 red, black arms.
Same amout of fig but the second had just 6 soldiers because it has the ghost (which is cool sure but I already got one, it's enough) and a wolfpack guy (already jas three of those guards and one with the brown arms and the black hood)
How and this first castle has 10 (TEN !!!) BK small shields (the best of all imo)
Even the two little square plate are great 16×16 is great for small projects, love it ! And is perfect to use with other size to like even smaller (8x16) or to "create" a 48x48 base (I have one and can buy more but it doesnt fit in my glass shelf so making a MOC in several parts can be done by using smaller plates and a 16x16 is a great square to complete a corner if we use a 32x32 and two 16x32 which would make a square like 3x3 mising a 1x1 in a corner. To make it "simple".. it would make: a 32x32 plate (basic size, total size of the bases of this castle)
Then you had at the "north" a plate like a long one here that is 32x16, and another on one side. You'll have a 3x3 square but instead of having 9 squares you have 8 because a corner is still missing and for that you can take one of those 2 little square plate)
.. and many more like an idea I have to use one with 2 even smaller that are halfs of it. 16×16+ 2times 8x16 and make a thing like this castle, the 2nd black falcon, etc but not from a square, more like having the two rectangles on the sides that can go behind. To have two configuration of a 16x32 rectangle, one seeing a "---" a line.. and the other "|" .
Oh and also just using a square with an 8x16 like one of the forest men sets.
Having different plate sizes and having some squares that has 16 per side is just perfect to use with 32x32 and 16x32.
I'll stop here because I can continue all night.. 😂 just also loving that there's 12 light grey corners reverse slopes, great for towers !

Maybe with inflation consideration, this set might be comparable in price to today's.

    • @jeanbarque9918
      @jeanbarque9918 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Didn't k ow it s value but I feel that you can easily double the.price now..
I am very happy for having it for around.130 dollars and I would easily pay 200$ for it.. even more.. I don't know in USA but I guess in europe this castle is easily sold even at 300$.. without instructions..
Bring me this one and the 2nd one (black knight s castle), both new, in closed pack never openend, I'll give you 700$.. just come with in switzerland.. 😂 Oh I assume, just let me time to have the money like 2 month.
