Now that's a true lifestyle product. Looks great sounds great and you can slice your vegetables and grate your cheese on those wood slats without having to leave the Tv area.
This strikes me as a C-Suite product and conference rooms use in general. If I was a CEO with an office TV, or have a nice conference room, I'd consider this.
I see how that could be a use case, but I would urge folks not to sell the Canvas short, it really is impressive in a lot of ways given how simple it is.
One comparison I think you may have missed is how this compares to the Nakamichi Dra... why's your eye twitching like that? On a serious note, I have to say, I *love* the design elements of the Canvas, especially the interchangeable grilles of this soundbar, and wish more companies would do something similar. That the Canvas also seems to back it up by being a heck of a soundbar has landed it on my list to research for my next system.
I'm surprised they didnt use a center tweeter. I would think this suffers from the same problems as any 2 channel system. Some people like it but i have always thought the center image moves when you do.
I could see a house with a few of these in living rooms or guest rooms when, as you stated, there's a more dedicated room for movies elsewhere in the home. I can also see this as a great small space solution for those living in studio or loft apartments.

I love that this product exists. If it were $2k, they'd never be able to manufacture enough. At $3k, it's still just reachable enough for some. But $4k? I'm afraid they invite too much competition from traditional home theater, stereo pairs and soundbars. Offer a version without the TV mount. And get that price to have a 2 in front of it if at all possible, and watch it become a serious contender for a lot of folks.

Despite the gap between the TV and the Canvas, the Canvas along with a TV does look kind of similar to a Rear Projection TV with speakers built-in. The only difference is that the TV's depth is very shallow from front to back.
Sometimes reading the comment section is so rewarding, and today it’s so depressing. Why can’t people just move on if it’s not for them instead of spitting junk? Man, parents must be terrible nowadays.. Anyways, since there aren’t many other products like this or at least they’re not in the view. But I really hope more products come out. I don’t think 4 grand price tag is too high or even low. I think it’s on point. It’s not just a speaker, it’s the amplification, it’s a freaking tv mount, it’s all the processing, and the design itself as well. As a first product of its kind for the company (from what I understand), and definitely things to fix and improve, but it’s almost sold me on it already. Now imagine the things you’ve mentioned are improved, they also add extra wireless speakers for side and up firing drives as well as surrounds. Basically merging home theater, soundbar, music system, just a bunch of different things altogether in a, let’s be real here, gorgeous packaging. Great review as always! I feel very much the same way about Canvas as a brand. This is their FIRST outing! Imagine what they'll be able to dream up with version 2 or future products. I think it's refreshing that they chose to go this route rather than a more traditional soundbar or separate speaker system. For the most part, I think folks are receptive but every time we discuss soundbars or more "lifestyle-oriented" products, inevitably there will be some detractors. All that said, the proof is in the pudding as they say. While videos like these may not take off like a rocket in terms of view count, in the end, they always do better than traditional products because there is a growing audience for products like Canvas compared to most traditional hifi or home theater offerings.

Excellent review Andrew,and just at the right time! For family reasons i have to downsize and that means,no more 2.0 stereo for me. I had a “good” system costing around 5k€,and was thinking for space reasons just to get a Samsung q990D for tv watching and movies. Sound quality is important to me and i know the sacrifice that a sound bar makes,in terms of soundstage,maybe a Canvas 65 would be a better way to go. I can only listen to music really quietly,like 50-55db and maybe like once a month,so the question is the,Samsung is currently 750€ in Europe and the Canvas around 3500. What would be your pick? Thanks for the advice 😌

Thank you for the review The comparison with the B&O Theatre is only true, if you do no take the myriad of options for additional speakers (wired or wireless) into account. Also the ability to control additional internal and external sources of the BS Theatre with the Beoremote is uninique….and definitely worth some of the extra money you have to pay for it.
Still haven't quite made it to that "living the B&O lifestyle" yet but wow, those all looked good. I love the cross channel interference to improve separation. That kind of science always gets my attention. Now if I can get these Tartini emitters working properly... lol. Thanks guys.
@@andrewrobinsonreviewsI’m a bit confused about the BACCH3D, from what I heard in the video,it seems like it just cross talk cancelation, usually other bar that has faux surround processing also has cross talk cancellations as a part of the virtualization combined with other processing to pull it off, but this is just pure cross talk cancellation alone so the sound would be like a traditional 2ch set up rather than trying to trick your ears that there’s more than 2 speakers?
This looks great and according to you, sounds great. If this would be my only sound option (new flat or scary wife or lack of space for real hi fi), it is no brainer. Looks spectacular, neat and you can tailor it to your design taste. Price? Resonable for great all in one solution. Thanks for this clip.
Good morning A&K. While I love the appearance of the Canvas, I'm not sure this product fills any particular need. Seems like it doesn't quite meet the need of the person who is considering either a soundbar for HT or those looking for a 2.1 system substitute for mixture of stereo/HT. I would love to see a future comparison against something like the Cambridge Audio Evo One that seems more flexible and cheaper all be it in a very different package. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

I have 25 years experience in working in the home audio business, and im quite hard to impress :-) But was quite surprised, for me the best product at the show... A review on some of the mk sound speakers, such as the s300, would be nice (even though they aren’t really new), or perhaps their v+ / x+ line of subwoofers ?
Speaking for myself, what has my attention is the Dynaudio Symphony Opus One soundbar with 22 speakers that was shown at CEDIA, not the Canvas. Would be cool if Andrew can snag one for review. I'm sure some will acquire the Canvas, i'm not that person.
I am SUPER intrigued by the new Dynaudio soundbar. As I understand it, it's not an official or final product yet, but when it comes to market, I want to review it!
How did the Beosound Theatre jump to $11k? Great minimalist solution. Practically free for the people that have those types of modern homes where normal speakers would never be an option as they chew up too much space.
Great review Andrew. Just seems awfully niche am I wrong? It seems it just comes down to if you want a piece of furniture to play your audio. If you don’t it sounds like there’s better options all across the board.
Not every product is right for every person, but I believe there is a large market for a solution like the Canvas, especially as folks look to downsize without sacrificing quality.
I already have the stage, but if anything ever happens to it I would have to consider the canvas. I have to ask, how does it compare to the log (ambeo)? This video looked great by the way in 4k, I think it’s one of the better looking videos I’ve seen on TH-cam 👍

Sometimes "stereo embiggening" software, like SRS, can sound impressive at first, but ultimately phasey and over-bloated. Did you encounter any material that the BACCH made phasey, unnatural, or in any way weird?

Happy Sunday. Believe it or not, I'm still using my Harman Kardon Enchant 800 with subwoofer. Still love it. As the Enchant sub is really tough to get in the States now I'll have to keep my eyes open for something new for when it's eventual death comes around.
@@KristiWright There is also a 1300 model of the Enchant. I'm guessing that it will probably destroy both the 800 and the Citation. I went with the Enchant over the Citation for a few reasons. One main reason is the room correction available on the Enchant.
Minor treble attenuation and maybe a minute drop in SPL, but nothing else. It's really no different from how any speaker grille affects any speaker. I hope this helps!
Nice review. I was interested in the speakers until I saw the weight on their site 35-38 kgs without the stand or the fronts. 45 kgs with packaging 😮 that’s heavy.
I only wish they aim at a bigger tv size, so they will look better with bigger TV and also adding more horizontal separation. Fitting a 65inch to a T is a good look but with bigger TV... Just eh.
@@MuhammadKharismawan I recommend you spend some time on the Canvas site (bit.ly/47OUacf) so that you can see all the configurations like how the Canvas works with larger tvs. By the way, one of the clips in this video shows the product with our 98" tv.
Isn't bacch similar to polk's sda tech? Like they use dsp for the polk magnifi max 1st gen and ax soundbars to achieve the sda effect. Im guessing canvas implented bacch better. Given the size of the drivers there's probably nothing coming close to this soundbar.
How does it affect the picture of the TV when its mounted on top? Its leaned back at a pretty sharp angle which I would think would lead to bad light reflections.
Depending on the environment and lighting, some TVs may be more reflective than others, but on its wall mount, it's no different than a regular wall-mounted TV.

I can't say if it's the ultimate, as everyone's takeaway is bound to be different based on many factors, but it's definitely a great option for those looking for an all-in-one solution.
I think this is a tough product to purchase for meeting everyone's lifestyle in the house...because not only does everyone need to like its sound but also its looks. For me personally, I think separating your sound system and your furniture offers a lot more flexibility at a much cheaper price than what is being offered here. I want to like it, but I would be scared of the day I realized I no longer want it in my house.
HAHAHA. While not free, I could see how the Canvas could be the ideal speaker for many folks in the modern world. It's definitely a peek into the future.
Hi Andrew, I would have the theatre over the canvas on a few reasons ; build quality, App is better with B&O more refined ! Materials, longevity, no doubt the the Canvas has good quality sound. ! I paid £6,000 for my theatre against say £ 3,500 for the Canvas & it looks like you can't add additional speakers through the sound bar like you can with the Theatre ! Would be interested with your thoughts! Great content as usual, keep up the great work Andrew ! & I know I keep asking you if you could possibly review soon, the Beolab 8's pleaseeee !!!!
You need too test the Beosound Theatre one more time, the firmware updates and sound difference then and now are night and day. Was an ”beta” product first year. Sounds very different now! Better sound in movie, better in music! Would be real fun to see neck and neck against the Dragon (Beosound Theatre with rears or/and with FL/FR….

Best of both worlds (separates and soundbar ease of installation) no other soundbar system have an decoder to have a total of 16 speaker ad to it. And room coretion and basscorection for all 16!

The fact that it can be mounted in multiple ways or used as a TV stand is probably the coolest feature.

There is a less expensive version without mounting hardware, but it costs closer to $3K, not $2K.

I have 25 years experience in working in the home audio business, and im quite hard to impress :-) But was quite surprised, for me the best product at the show... Speaking for myself, what has my attention is the Dynaudio Symphony Opus One soundbar with 22 speakers that was shown at CEDIA, not the Canvas. Would be cool if Andrew can snag one for review. I'm sure some will acquire the Canvas, i'm not that person.
I am SUPER intrigued by the new Dynaudio soundbar. As I understand it, it's not an official or final product yet, but when it comes to market, I want to review it!

How did the Beosound Theatre jump to $11k? Great minimalist solution. Practically free for the people that have those types of modern homes where normal speakers would never be an option as they chew up too much space.
B&O products across the board received a pretty hefty price increase in 2024, and the Theatre's price definitely swelled as a result.
First hifi product I remember needing a safety warning/recall!

Great review Andrew. Just seems awfully niche am I wrong? It seems it just comes down to if you want a piece of furniture to play your audio. If you don’t it sounds like there’s better options all across the board.
Not every product is right for every person, but I believe there is a large market for a solution like the Canvas, especially as folks look to downsize without sacrificing quality.
I already have the stage, but if anything ever happens to it I would have to consider the canvas. I have to ask, how does it compare to the log (ambeo)? This video looked great by the way in 4k, I think it’s one of the better looking videos I’ve seen on TH-cam 👍
The Stage is great, and I hope yours continues to work for many years because it's an absolute sleeper of a product! As for the Ambeo comparison, I will save my thoughts for Friday's Unplugged if that's okay. Thank you so much for your comments on the video quality.

Sometimes "stereo embiggening" software, like SRS, can sound impressive at first, but ultimately phasey and over-bloated. Did you encounter any material that the BACCH made phasey, unnatural, or in any way weird?

You and your intro music sound very good through my modest 4.1 system, however it would be helpful if you actually demonstrate the sound quality of the items you review. Thank you for your diligence otherwise as always to explain the pros and cons, wish you and Christi all the best
If you are requesting a sound demo, I'm afraid we won't be including those in our reviews. A digitally compressed file (from TH-cam) played through your device will not give you an accurate representation of the product being reviewed, which is why we don't do them. We hope you'll still join us for the next video.

Happy Sunday. Believe it or not, I'm still using my Harman Kardon Enchant 800 with subwoofer. Still love it. As the Enchant sub is really tough to get in the States now I'll have to keep my eyes open for something new for when it's eventual death comes around.
H&K isn't as widely distributed in the US as it once was. I'm unfamiliar with the 800, so I appreciate you sharing your experience.

@@KristiWright There is also a 1300 model of the Enchant. I'm guessing that it will probably destroy both the 800 and the Citation. I went with the Enchant over the Citation for a few reasons. One main reason is the room correction available on the Enchant.
The wood front definitely looks the best, but does it affect the sound?
Minor treble attenuation and maybe a minute drop in SPL, but nothing else. It's really no different from how any speaker grille affects any speaker. I hope this helps!

Nice review. I was interested in the speakers until I saw the weight on their site 35-38 kgs without the stand or the fronts. 45 kgs with packaging 😮 that’s heavy.
Oh, it's heavy. It has to rank among the more overengineered soundbar products I've encountered.
I only wish they aim at a bigger tv size, so they will look better with bigger TV and also adding more horizontal separation.
Fitting a 65inch to a T is a good look but with bigger TV... Just eh.
It visually fits any and all TVs up to 77 inches, which in Europe (and most of the US) is the average TV size in the home.

@@MuhammadKharismawan I recommend you spend some time on the Canvas site (bit.ly/47OUacf) so that you can see all the configurations like how the Canvas works with larger tvs. By the way, one of the clips in this video shows the product with our 98" tv.

Isn't bacch similar to polk's sda tech? Like they use dsp for the polk magnifi max 1st gen and ax soundbars to achieve the sda effect. Im guessing canvas implented bacch better. Given the size of the drivers there's probably nothing coming close to this soundbar.
How does it affect the picture of the TV when its mounted on top? Its leaned back at a pretty sharp angle which I would think would lead to bad light reflections.
Depending on the environment and lighting, some TVs may be more reflective than others, but on its wall mount, it's no different than a regular wall-mounted TV.

I'd rather have this level of build, design, and sound quality at $4K than the plastic-fantastic and shouty Dragon that costs way more now.

I can't say if it's the ultimate, as everyone's takeaway is bound to be different based on many factors, but it's definitely a great option for those looking for an all-in-one solution.

I think this is a tough product to purchase for meeting everyone's lifestyle in the house...because not only does everyone need to like its sound but also its looks. For me personally, I think separating your sound system and your furniture offers a lot more flexibility at a much cheaper price than what is being offered here. I want to like it, but I would be scared of the day I realized I no longer want it in my house.

Hi Andrew, I would have the theatre over the canvas on a few reasons ; build quality, App is better with B&O more refined ! Materials, longevity, no doubt the the Canvas has good quality sound. ! I paid £6,000 for my theatre against say £ 3,500 for the Canvas & it looks like you can't add additional speakers through the sound bar like you can with the Theatre ! Would be interested with your thoughts! Great content as usual, keep up the great work Andrew ! & I know I keep asking you if you could possibly review soon, the Beolab 8's pleaseeee !!!!

You need too test the Beosound Theatre one more time, the firmware updates and sound difference then and now are night and day. Was an ”beta” product first year. Sounds very different now! Better sound in movie, better in music!
Would be real fun to see neck and neck against the Dragon (Beosound Theatre with rears or/and with FL/FR….
I don’t think they have the Theatre anymore so asking it from B&O again would be tough since it would be just like a revisit of the product

Best of both worlds (separates and soundbar ease of installation) no other soundbar system have an decoder to have a total of 16 speaker ad to it. And room coretion and basscorection for all 16!
