Totally correct on the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic, Jenni. It's the piece in my collection that gets most comments from non-watchnerds. Amazing value.
in my experience, watch nerds/enthusiasts are just happy/excited to meet another watch nerd in the wild lol. When I meet people through work, my Christopher Ward Trident, although not in the same price category as Rolex, Tudor, Omega, gets compliments from people wearing these expensive watches - if only because we share a love for watches. Outside our bubble is another conversation. My Trident is my most expensive watch at about 1,100 (CAD), and people don't really care about the finishing or the movement, let alone the price. They are amazed at my blue dial Seiko DressKX (SRPE53) tho, especially when they see the see-through case back lol.
You are absolutely right. There's a collector's club with monthly meetings near where I live, and people bring everything from cheap Swatch watches to vintage Pateks; not to mention obscure vintage makes and models. As long as there's a watch, we're all off into "watchland", a strange and unkwown place as far as "normal" people are concerned.
When you develop the habit of looking at wrists, the cold reality that Apple's black featureless wrist computers are outselling all mechanical watch brands combined sets in.
I have a collection of watches including Omega, Tudor, Sinn, Breitling etc. In over 50 years I have only ever been complimented once on the watch I was wearing and that was my Omega Speedmaster. I have four Omega watches three of which are Seamasters.
I completely understand where you are coming from on this very situation. I have never received a compliment when wearing my GMT Master II except from one of the guys at work(he's a watch nut as well). But I have received quite a few(3 or 4)when wearing my Aqua Terra(on a rubber strap none the less)which I bought this past summer...which is funny to me. Watches are to make you happy and most people think we're insane.
I don’t think there’s a single Nomos I wouldn’t be happy with. Their design language is incredibly strong and reckgnisable, while stil looking classic, elegant and cool.
🇨🇦 Nothing to do with compliments, only lifelong accuracy and comfort ! My Seiko is a 1972 Pogue Automatic Chronograph ! Bought it new, still amazing ! 🇨🇦
My Orient Kamasu got a lot of compliments and people thought it was a luxury watch. So, I usually wear a Tudor BB S&G now, and nobody cares about it :D
I wear a Speedmaster on a Forstner Komfit. Always gets looks from people, but not very many comments. My girlfriend tells me that I don't have the most approachable appearance😂
I’ve never had a compliment on any of my watches while out roaming. Would love to have a conversation with a stranger about the watch I’m wearing that day.
I’d have to guess I’m not around watch enthusiasts very often because the only one in my collection that achieves some recognition is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust
Tag Heuer Monaco should be number one on this list. It's iconic, and exclusively distinctive. Every single time I've worn my Gulf Ltd, somebody has commented on it. In reality, nobody would comment on virtually all the watches that you've itemised here, imo.
I own a fairly robust watch collection and NEVER get comments/compliments on any of them. I’m perfectly fine with that. I prefer no one notice what’s on my wrist
I have wore a lot of different watches through the years. I received the most compliments from a Two Tone Blue Submariner I owned a few years back. I think people just loved the Blue color. Most never even knew it was a Rolex. I now wear an Omega Seamaster Professional in Black, and have gotten 1 or 2 compliments on it, but it was from watch lovers that knew what I was wearing.
The only watch I have on the list is the Hamilton. The most complements I’ve gotten on my watches are on my vintage dress watches. Have no desire to buy any of these watches. Still waiting to hear a Patek repeater in the wild.
Love your content, Jenni! I could be wrong, but buying from established brands is too safe, imo. What about interesting microbrands? A Ming would also impress any watch-lover, right? Wearing a Helm nearly always gets you comments from watch-heads and divers. I could go on, but while I love some of your options (looking specifically at the Zulu time), I can find more local, and more interesting, watches...instead of the Zulu time, how about a Jack Mason Stratotimer? I'm pretty sure it's unique enough to catch the eye of any collector...
There are 2 GS watches people have commented on that I wear. One more because they recognize it and the other because they think it's beautiful. Also a few comments on a black Seiko sarb.
"Cut! Jenni, I'm hearing 'Too-duh.' It's 'Tudor.' " Jenni: "That's what I said,'Too-duh.' "😁 I used to get compliments on my Rolex Day-Date in yellow gold, but it was mostly the Presidential bracelet that caught someone's eye.
As GMTs go, the Longines beats the hell out of the Tudor. The Tudor hits you in the face like a brick. The Longines is so much more subtle, balanced and sophisticated.
Agree with your selection. It's such a relieve when you don't see a list full of Rolexes. So vulgar right now specially with all the replicas that are nowadays.
I already have the Seiko that you mentioned. I would also like to have the Longines and the IWC, as I think they are both stunning watches. The one that I would add here is one that I have, which is the Breitling Navitimer. Sinn also makes a very, very similar watch and I would add that one to this list too.
One of my less expensive watches gets most of the attention, Bulova Lunar Pilot on white / blue dial. Especially from non enthusiastic people. But I suspect this would happen with many other chronographs with contrasting dials and clean looks
I went on a Disney cruise recently and numerous Staff, including the watch merchants, were very interested in my Omega Green World timer on a bracelet. Even the girl from Thailand handing out hand sanitizer wipes at the food court noticed the watch and asked me about it.
I know its a cheap watch but I used to get a bunch of compliments on my invicta grand diver from women. women would want to buy one for their husband's and I finally gifted it to a lesbian friend of mine after she offered to buy it, she had a thicker wrist than mine, I still have fond memories of that watch ⌚ I might pick up another green invicta diver one day,
My daily is a Sub, everyone thinks it’s a fake 🤣 I love it, it’s tough and I never take it off. The stand out point is that I can actually read the time on it, Omega make busy watch dials and skeleton hands which makes it hard to read, Tudor are 2mm thicker than a sub, I tried them, just too thick. There is a reason the Sub keeps going with the same design for 70 years, it works.
Nice selection. The amount of times I have looked at getting the Sinn 556i is silly, it has been my screen wallpaper on my iphone and Macbook countless times, I have read avery review and yet I have never pulled the trigger thinking it'd be too small for my 7.5 inch wrist. It is a rue GADA watch and is a so called strap monster, with 200m WR to boot...fab, but there has always been the Damasko DS30 sitting in the wings as fine competition, with, if anything, better buils amd slimmer with a bigger face. I love some of the watches from your homeland and they represent true valuef or money. In the end, I have just recently bought a chronograph field homage watch that suits all my needs with 100m WR, an incredibly good domed sapphire crystal scewdown back/crown/pushers with 39mm case.....perfection as my daily wearer.
Miss Jenni, Hi! A video possibility for those with smaller wrists. I thought I would never find a perfect tri-compax chronograph with a date. Smallest diameter I could find were 41 mm and a minimum of 14 mm thick. My Dear Wife of almost 50 years got me the 2023 TAG Carrera. 39 mm…..I got the blue one with the date at the 6:00. You and Mr. Jenni should go take a look. A 42 mm Sea Master just looks like a dinner plate on your slim wrist. I have a couple of 42’s in my collection but just a couple. Thanks for another fine vid!
I believe you did nail most of the nicest appealing watches currently out there - however this list will change with fashions (e.g.: integrated bracelets that were a bog no-no through the 1990-early 2000s). Here are a couple more watches that have consistently garnered attention and compliments: JLC Reverso - people ask about it and compliment it ANY Cartier - especially the Santos (smaller models, though) Breitling Chronomat (older model) - I have one with a burgundy dial and strap which never fails to get attention and compliments 🙂 Most Vintage Omega watches will just get looks and questions (but in a good way) Thanks for this review
Ever since I bought the Seiko speedtimer a few months ago, panda version, I get regular compliments even from people who don't give af about watches. It's such a strap monster too which is great.
@@patriciahartnett5238you'll love it. The bracelet is a little tricky to get a great fit because of the lack of microadjustments. However, sailcloth, rubber and nato straps all look superb on it!
For me the watch that I had quite a few complements/questions/conversations starters were from non-watch people? My Speedy Professional 1861. Contrary to belief that everyone owns a Speedy (I live in Chicago and travel to New York often). I never saw or noticed anyone else wearing a Speedy.
Wife says that that her Reverso Duo gets a lot of attention, as does her Speedy auto. My Speedy Blue Side of the Moon and Gulf Monaco draw complements. But my grad students love the manta rays on the dial of my Seiko Save The Ocean King Turtle and the bright orange face of my iconic 2nd gen Seiko Monster. Much less risky to wear the latter two in my research lab, particularly when we are washing, sterilizing, and drying glassware.
I wore my Sub daily for 10 years straight. I received 2 compliments. Both from other lawyers. Oh, and one or two from new car salesmen. My black Tudor Pelagos 42 has garnished more compliments in the year or so I have worn it. I have an old Tag Formula 1 "beater" watch i wear on weekends, etc. It gets a number of "nice watch" from younger people.
7:59 Hard disagree on the portofino vs the master control. The indices on the IWC crowd the dial more, and the minute numbers around the edge feel more sporty than dress. It’s a niche case, but I get the most compliments on my Boldr Field Medic 2 from other medical professionals when they see I can measure pulsations and respirations simultaneously with it. It’s the only watch I’ve seen with BOTH a pulsation and respiration ring on the dial. Would love to hear if there’s another I’ve missed. Plus, it’s titanium, which is good for getting knocked around in prehospital settings.
Just the other day I answered the door for the young man who is our Amazon delivery driver. As I reached for the small package he smiled and said, "Nice Planet Ocean, Sir." I was surprised but complimented him on his eagle eyes!
Seiko Cocktail Time. SRPB41. I have a few others in that family, but the blue leads the league in compliments. SRPH78 would be 2nd place. Grand Seiko SBGA413 is probably 3rd. Tudor BB GMT on an aftermarket jubilee is 4th. I have other GS, Tudor, IWC, Oris watches…. But the blue Cocktail Time easily doubles all the rest combined. Admitted, most compliments are from non-watch people.
I was horrified by the watches on this list. By the time it reached the NOMOS I was raging and had to make a comment . . . it was only then that I realised the title said the most COMPLIMENTS and not the most COMPLAINTS! ha ha! my mistake. Good list 🙂
I used to get a lot of comments on my Breitling Navitimer 46mm - likely because of its size. These days, I’m daily-driving a Garmin Fenix 7x (don’t come after me)- even bigger at 51mm, and I’m getting more comments and inquiries than I’ve received on any other watch I’ve had. Also, there appears to be a difference in attention to what you have on your wrist between the United States and Europe. Europeans seem to pay a lot more attention to your wrist than Americans.
Hi Jennie, thanks for including my two favourite watch brands and models that I own. I have the green Omega Seamaster which was my grail watch. I have many Seiko 5 & Prospex models but not the second one you displayed. Can you please give me the model number of that blue faced, light blue bezel model. Much appreciated, regards, Larry
I have been stopped wearing both my vintage Ploprof 600m and Ploprof 1200m more times than I can remember....often at an airport or on the plane. I have had strangers come up to me and ask to take pics of my vintage Ploprof 600m and my Vintage Rolex Explorer 1655 "Steve McQueen".
Expanding a little bit on my petition. It is very easy to buy a great watch when you can expend a millon dollars. But what is the best watch you can buy when you have a ver limited budget is a ver y nice question and my recomendation to you.
Well said and I have a few if want compliments get bright and shiny orange dials etc. Or a bright nato strap etc. People don't always really like them it just slaps them in the face so bright and they make polite conversation.
Funny enough, I get the most compliments on my Omega with the electric blue dial and in my collection I have the iconic McQueen Monaco and a Rolex and Cartier and Breitling but those compliments are from regular folks, and I have yet to bump into other watch lovers, I find the only people who are interested in your watches are people who are friendly and people who want to steal it 😝
Zenith El Primero Original is the one I am getting the most compliments from in my collection. Btw, I do enjoy so much your contents but.. could you speak a bit slowlier ?
My 2018 Black Black Rolrx GMT-II gets a few comments, and maybe even more that now Rolex has released other versions here in 2024. It's funny, this was the least liked GMT recently, but observe now the hot comments here online about the new ones demonstrates the craziness of the market for Rolex steel sports models! These sleeper models, like the no-date black sub, subtly disturb those caught in the "look at me, I have a Rolex" crowd. I'd much rather select the stealth-wealth models. The hobby is a sickness of sorts!
Good, but I don't wear watches or feel good cause people will give me compliment for wearing it, I only use my watch cause I LOVE IT, I'm careless about what people think about it 🤣
Seems your Seiko 5 sports watches were out of place with your other high priced watches. Those watches should have been replaced with the Grand Seiko in my opinion. Having said that, the most complements I have received were from my vintage 6309 and 7s26 divers that I have modded. Seems strange that I still wear and prefer those watches to my newer and much more expensive Seiko dive watches. Second to those would be my Omega Planet Ocean. It remains to be seen if I get complements for my newly acquired Grand Seiko gmt and Rolex Sea-Dweller.
Totally correct on the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic, Jenni. It's the piece in my collection that gets most comments from non-watchnerds. Amazing value.
Field watches are just great
Really? I have 1 and feel its very under the radar 😊
TheTudor Black Bay GMT definitely gets the most compliments when I wear it.
That’s my dream watch, and I’m moving closer to owning one. They now have a thinner one for 2024.

The Tissot PRX gets a lot of compliments, despite being under 1000$, it’s an amazing watch
I agree - I’ve had more compliments my green dial quartz PRX than Rolex. It’s sort of the perfect watch.
That and my Watermelon are the two that get the most comments despite being two of my least expensive
The mint PRX gets noticed more often than my 6 digit LV
I love the PRX, i have two of them. But they get a lot of hate too especially on reddit.
I can imagine "well done, you saved loads, you could have bought a good watch" 😂
The Hamilton Ventura. Even my baby wants to get hands-on with this alien fighting gadget.
love seeing sinns

My Seiko 5 GMT gets a crazy amount of compliments when on the jubilee bracelet
The Longine Spirit Zulu is a killer GMT for the price. Wears well, accurate. A Winner.

Much appreciated,
regards,
Larry
You have to be smart when you choose a watch, because sometimes a cheap one makes the difference
I never got a compliment on my IWC Portofino, but who cares I love that watch in my collection 😄
I enjoy seeing you so much lol
Great channel
I get more compliments from my Original Grain watches than anything else.
Grand Seiko the underdog 🎉
Nobody is shouting out Hamilton Kakis come on, get real. They fly way under radar. Let’s be serious for a second 😂
Disappointed my $89 pagani design just missed the list.
Blue Pelagos always gets a compliment.
Um, sorry Jenni, but the Ultrathin very much does have something on the IWC🙂
Disagree with some commenters who say nobody notice or care. Watches like this are pretty rare (in the digital watch era) and many people notice.
I have numerous watches. Luxury and affordable. Nobody ever complimented me on my watch. So there's that
