      @emilio6425 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +47

      This is true, but I think that the issue is that the person who made this video doesn’t know anything about Catholicism. They are sort of conflating the movement that is more fond of latin, veiling, and things that go with that specific era in the western church’s tradition, with orthodox catholicism that upholds the doctrines promulgated by the church.
      Those two things may even tend to go together, but the director probably doesnt understand the distinction.
      The word choice is weird regardless. Especially when they say “reshape” the Catholic church in the title and then talk about contraception haha.

    • @emilio6425
      @emilio6425 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

      Ah! I think i get it. They arent talking about “reshaping” the catholic church in terms of its doctrine, they actually are talking about the population of those who call themselves catholic actually believing the moral teachings of the church and living by them. Ok yeah thats just catholic.

No one taught them, by and large, the faith as it truly is. Therefore, they often don’t understand it. My wife of 42 years and I consider ourselves faithful Roman Catholics. Our three kids, their spouses, and and our soon-to-be 13 grandchildren are faithful and prefer the Latin Mass. Thank you, Jesus!
    Christ commended us to love one another as He loved us - through service, sacrifice, and agape love. In this, we love those who are disordered - i.e., sinners - since we all fit into that boat.
    Therefore, we recognize sin for what it is and do not endorse it. We pray that all souls go to Heaven, especially those most in need of Divine Mercy.

      I mean, there are traditionalists and modernists, and traditionalists are overwhelmingly political conservatives, while modernists are overwhelmingly political liberals. It's also fair to say that traditionalists are conservative with respect to praxis and doctrine, insisting that the deposit of faith is preserved exactly as it was handed down to us, while modernists are liberal in their deviations from tradition and their treatment of scripture. See for example the Latin American liberation theologians who ruined the Catholic Church's dominance in Brazil and other countries in Latin and South America. It's completely fair to describe them as liberal, or even as left-wing, because by their own admission they interpret scripture through the lens of Marxism. Conversely, there are many radical traditionalist Catholics who insist on conservative social policy, particularly on matters of sexuality, abortion, euthanasia, etc. I would count myself among them, and I wouldn't object to being called a conservative Catholic. I do think there is only one deposit of faith, and you're either faithful to the Church's teaching or you're not. But the faction of the unfaithful dissenters is big enough at this point that it's important to distinguish it from the faithful faction. So it makes sense to use these terms for these factions.

    In some ways, this isn't really conservative or liberal - it's a growing minority realizing and embracing the Church as it really is. In case you think that if you like the Tridentine Mass, you automatically must follow the Republican party, no - this is not the case at all, in any way, shape, or form. I, for one, being for all intents and purposes one of the Catholics described here (and there could be lots, lots more), am entirely at odds with the Republican party as concerns climate change and immigration (yes, I know the climate changing for the worse, and, yes, I'm totally pro-immigrant). If possible, I would like to see the Mass for the entire church returned to about 1945, which was right before Annibale Bugnini came in and created the current mess in the Roman Rite - in fact, literally everything Bugnini did with the liturgy, and literally all of his ideas, really should be cancelled and removed. If you're still thinking that being a Trad Catholic automatically means being Republican (or politically conservative, for that matter). His Holiness Pope Leo XIII completely debunks that illusion in paragraph 8 of Pergrata: "Everyone may hold his own opinion in purely political matters and defend it honestly and legitimately, provided it is not contrary to religion or justice. Yet those, if there are any, who do not distinguish clearly between what is holy and what is merely civil, commit a pernicious error which lends the name of religion to a political party."

    There is a sense in which political stances do track with religious orthodoxy, but not in the sense that the secular world understands it: for the secular mind, one's religion is just a reflection of one's politics; for the orthodox Catholic it is precisely the reverse: one's politics are informed by one's religious beliefs, which are more fundamental. I know that in my case, my reversion to the Catholic faith and, in particular, to "traditionalism" came first, and then changes in my political views only followed later.

Comments like yours, above, are really not helping the unity of the Church, because the Church doesn't stand or fall on one kind of Mass in one language. The Church belongs to Christ, not the Latin language.

      No, you are a minority. Most Catholics are 'cultural Catholics'. It is an ethnic identity. They go through the motions of baptism and things like that. Most do not even believe in the Body and Blood of Christ, like 80% by the Church's own numbers. That doesn't mean you will be a minority for long. In fact, everyone who is not a card-carrying Republican has either died off or has left, typically due to the hate-filled priests who castigate them in Confession and the precondition that you must be a Republican or else. You'll actually be the majority here very soon, just in a very small Catholic Church. You'll get a lot of conspiracy theorist and repressed young males to join, they can put on robes and play crusader, but that'll be that. Everyone else will be gone.

      You shouldn't extrapolate a few churches that offer the TLM being full to every church offering it being full. Most "normie" catholics are put off by the TLM and would find it alien. I wish it wasn't so, but that's the way it is. I think it would be better to reintroduce some of the elements that were never acutally supposed to be removed by the NO: kneeling at the rail, communion on the tougue, gregorian chant, incense. People would still be put off, of course, but a return of sacredness would start to draw people in even if they don't understand why.
