    Lately, I've been recording some of my videos without my classic Shure SM7, instead using a portable microphone. This inevitably results in somewhat lower sound quality in general, but it also makes the recording of the videos much easier and less time consuming. Let me know if you notice a major difference and if the sound quality is getting in the way, so I can decide what the best option is going forward.

      It did sound a bit more muffled than usual, and I had to repeat more passages. But this probably wasn't as much of a difference for me as it is for you, by the sounds of it (no pun intended).

    The diversity of Christianity is so fascinating to me, someone who grew up in a plain-jane repressed Lutheran Missouri Synod church. My pastor would have been loath to even acknowledge that orthodox and apostolic churches even existed. For all he cared the Land of Zion was Battle Creek, Michigan.

    A small observation about miaphisitism is that recent Catholic-Coptic and Orthodox-Coptic conferences have agreed that the original issue was basically semantic as each party would mean one thing when talking about physis and hypostasis. The Pope of Alexandria confessed pretty much the chalcedonian creed and, at least on this case, mutual claims of heresy are lifted which is a great step towards unity.

    • @kidus_1010
      @kidus_1010 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This is incorrect and totally false. The patristic and clerical consensus from the Oriental Orthodox Church has always been that the Chalcedonian churches are heretics and even in Ethiopia, Chalcedon is called “The Council of Dogs”. No anathemas have been lifted from either side and we continue to condemn the Chalcedonians as heretics and the Eastern “Orthodox” to this day curse the Oriental Orthodox Patriarchs BY NAME in their anathema services.
      There is no semantic issue. It’s purely theological and in any recent 20th century discussion it’s actually the Chalcedonian churches who have conceded much of their positions in order to form joint statements
      Please refrain from commenting about such issues where your ignorance may confuse people and spread misinformation to the masses who don’t know any better.

    The cool feature about the Ethiopian Orthodox church is that it is so isolated that it preserves many texts and features from other (extinct) traditions. It can teach us a lot about the diverse climate in which both Christianity and Pharisaic Judaism emerged and prevailed, amd what other movements influenced them. In some ways Ethiopia functions in itself as some sort of 'ark'.

  • @cosmo_mosy

    Eritreans and Northern Ethiopians belong to the South Semitic branch. It originated in Southern Arabia and has been present in Yemen for about 6,000 years and crossed over to Ethiopia 3,000-2,500 years ago. It is not under the Levantine Semitic branch Hebrew is under.

    • @cosmo_mosy
      @cosmo_mosy 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      Moreover, Ethiosemitic languages have a significant Cushitic substratum (underlayer). Particularly of the Agaw branch of Cushitic, which still exist as isolated pockets in Ethiosemitic areas. As late as the early middle ages, Agaw (Cushitic) was still the predominant language of much of the Amhara province of Ethiopia, and you even had rival Agaw dynasties battling with Ge'ez/Ethiosemitic communities over dominance. Eventually, the Ethiosemitic community won out, and Amharic became the lingua franca of Ethiopia. Nevertheless, Amharic is notably more Cushiticized than other Ethiosemitic languages such as Tigrinya and Tigre. All in all, this region has a fascinating history.

    • @Phaenes
      @Phaenes 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Oriental Orthodox view two natures in one person as too adjacent to a previously denounced heresy called Nestorianism-which suggested that Christ was two persons, one human and one divine. Meanwhile, the Chalcedonians (Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestants) view the Oriental notion of Christ having one composite human/divine nature as basically being a logical fallacy that undermines the significance of Christ’s distinct human and divine natures by combining them into a new unique nature that’s unlike any other.

    • @kidus_1010
      @kidus_1010 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      There is a massive difference in the formulations that have consequences for the salvation of mankind. Namely, under the two nature dyophysite view which was condemned by the Council of Ephesus, although the Chalcedonians claim to affirm this, God couldn’t have truly died on the cross because it would be His human nature independently that suffers as per the tome of Leo. Under the Orthodox one nature Miaphysite view, God truly died and suffered on the cross for us as a man because His divinity was inseparably united to His humanity as a single composite reality which makes it possible that it was truly God’s blood that was shed on Calvary for the sake of mankind. One nature of Christ was the unanimous consensus of the early church up until Theodore of Mopsuestia, Nestorius of Constantinople, and Leo of Rome decided to do their own thing and preach two natures.
      This is just one of many significances of Christology

I know the Coptic church maintains a similar view to Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Church, with a more substantive emphasis on the presence of Christ in the sacrament. Wouldn't this also be the case with the Ethiopian church? Im not sure myself though.

    Christian Theologians might like to consider the possibility that the World is insubstantial in the same way as taught by
    Eastern Mystics.
    If Jesus is an apparition (in exactly the same way all phenomona is), then we need not determine how He could be incarnated and divine.
    Whatever is incarnated has no validity.
    Only God is valid.
    The Universe is just a display of divine grace.
    Consequently Jesus' physical body was just a display of divine grace.
    The difference between Jesus and other physical phenomona is that Jesus awareness was unveiled.
    In other words there was no separation between Jesus' awareness and God's awareness.

How might we label these topics without the term "Oriental" so that we can preserve and restore the true history and identity of topics from the North East African/Arabian/Asian regions
