Great guide as always and love the new intro! Just wondering how you knew in advance that it was going to be actual skytoss, instead of phoenix into standard colossus chargelot archon (which is very common). Was a scan used sometime at 6-8 minutes?
Usually the first tell is that they get 4 gases really fast, and then you just pay attention to the phoenix count to see if they're committing to it even harder

I recently played a game. The guy literally just started off with cannon and battery defense with two bases. I even went with the all in you taught (2 tanks, 8 marines) and slowly built more tanks. By the time i almost broke the cannon defense, he already had tempests out. And i had to pulled my tanks. From then on, he just accumulated carriers, so pure tempests /carriers, and it almost felt to me it's invincible. I am a diamond 2. my tvt is 80%, tvz is 68%, tvp is 33%......... Really frustrating. And i think one of the biggest frustration I have is, knowing there's no way i can win late games...
How to never play a TvP again: Open 'Windows Defender Firewall'. Click on 'Advanced Settings'. Right-click 'Outbound Rules' -> Create new rule. For the rule you have just created: -Set the rule type to custom. -Set the program path to your sc2 executable (try setting it to C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Versions\\ ). -Set Protocol type to Any -Under scope, add the following REMOTE IP addresses: 103.4.0.0 to 103.4.255.255, 52.67.0.0 to 52.67.255.255, 13.0.0.0 to 13.255.255.255 and 52.180.0.0 to 52.255.255.255 -Set 'Action' to 'Block the connection'. Under 'Inbound Rules', delete all of the SC2 entries (this may not be necessary). Start SC2, but do not click "Allow this program through windows firewall". Thermy, I have got a question You say thors are terrible against carriers, but are you sure? I play against skytoss in 2v2 aaall the time and my teammate is protoss so he has a very hard time countering them so he leave them to me. If I am going bio, I go mass marine thor, and if mech, then just thor hellbat. I swear to god, I absolutely anihilate the carriers every single time, even when there are more of them and they are better upgraded. I agree that they crap vs disruptors and immortals, but why against carriers? Because they are slow and cannot fly? But isn't that a weak argument considering for example marines are not considered weak against phoenixes or mutas just because they can't fly and are much slower than mutas?
I always talk from a pro point of view ; making thors against carriers in an actual match is a bad decision. In a vacuum making just thors vs just carriers with no micro or terrain involved might be ok, but in an actual game with more units than just carriers and thors, with terrain and pathing issues thors are just atrocious vs carriers

OMG! I donated and pray this clip would be uploaded one day! Thank you! But I still have some questions. A big one and a couple of small. What if airtoss is late game transtion? My odinary game against protoss takes 15-20 minutes. we split the map and i can even be ahead at some point. But after taking 4th base i am a defender, he push me with all his gateway robostaff while havenig +1 expand, I deffend with bio vikings/libs and ghosts. At some points toss start changing his army and building carriers with 3-4 stargates. I have a short window when i can kill a base or sometimes even push to die. But most of the time we ended up with splitted map where he has +2 bases, an army with 6-8 carriers, disraptors, archons and storms and dt runbuys all over my fresh location. As i understand my problem is inabillity to prevent protoss from that huge income advantage. I can ok 1 or 2 times, But then he would kill my expensive units and warp 6000 zealots archons and stalkers with + 3. But anyway do marinetanks works as lategame transition from standart bio libs? I have 8 barracks with 7 techlabs. It seems like there is no time for reactors. i just pres marine button? Or i should just stick to standart with 3 starports and just try to play better? I ussualy trade very well. Just too behind at economy. But it always very difficult coz one mistake and i am out after exhausting 20 minutes game. Becaouse there are no tanks to kill splash and i die to disrapturs or there are not enough marines because i keep building ghosts and marauders instead. so carriers overwhelm me. I tried liberators, some times they help. But u never know what is the right amount and one good storm will finish u. Sorry for this wall of text. Love u. Got promoted to master after ur streams and lessons. But still have like 40% tvp winrate coz love to play standart macro.
In that case it would be very hard to transition to marine tank, if you really want to force it you could do so by adding mass factories ( I have done so in the past ) but in that case it might make more sense to go for the really difficult viking style

Battlecruisers are mechs only answer to carriers! You can also try playing mass cyclone and avoiding the army and sniping bases and stuff but its very difficult ^^
I know you've done one private lesson on chargelots, but it would still be good to hear how to deal with them when we scout them in advance (the private lesson was pretty much "you should have scouted earlier, now it's too late and you can only pull the SCVs 😂")
doesn't matter since they melt to void rays and skytoss is almost always void/carrier it's the whole reason they are so incredibly OP because void/carrier has no weakness
Yeah but good luck shift a-clicking all the Carriers with only your army/thors while dodging disruptors/colossi/storm. In theory Thors are the counter to Carriers because they're a Massive unit, but in practice it's more complicated than that (oh, and inmortals shred them)
@@snowdrop9810 You won't fight isolated Carriers unless the enemy is extremely lazy. And exactly you can't dodge anything with Thors, they'll just die along with any bio you have besides them. The idea of mass Siege Tanks is to avoid any splash damage from getting close to your main DPS, Marines.
I would agree with a lot of the folks here that the lower-ladder skytoss i'm worried about is voids / carriers... and I deserve it for not harassing with reapers early or placing widow mines well vs voids... The Skytoss I know is all air. mass marine does usually die since the voids can move away and harass workers.
Unfortunately, things are not googn this way l. In plat diamond, toss will sit back on 3 bases, putting cannons everywhere so that you cant drop. They mass carriers and voidrays, and then when they have a critical mass, they go out and wipe all your marines in 3 seconds.
Yeah, weirdos on the forums having been saying mass libs counter carriers and voids, so I tested it on the unit tester.... they absolutely do not. Carriers and voids with no micro beat libs, not insanely in all fairness, but kiting with carriers or voids with beams activated RAAAAAAPE libs. Libs are also crazy expensive and for the cost don’t really do much better at killing interceptors than marines.
@@MrShitthead nah, actually HeroMarine demonstrated it, with 15 +3 ATK Libs you can one shot the Interceptors and win the fight vs mass carrier army's. problem would indeed be HTs, Archons and other random mixed in units. That's why I expected mass libs here.
Whats about thors vs Colosses? They can push forward with marines and they are taking damage from disruptors. 1-2 thors when splash damage not be a very bad for this few guys
So he pressures him at around 8:30, and then commits to a full hit a few minutes later.... IF you did this right there’s no way in hell your opponent maxed out with carriers and colossus before the 10 minute mark, it’s not even possible. In other words you probably messed up the build and showed up after 15 to 20 minutes with no previous pressure and wondered why your opponent was so hard to kill after letting him get to 6 bases.
I'm not seeing the skytoss here, skytoss is carrier/void blob with maybe some temptest, very gas heavy, extra minerals go into cannon walls. This is a few tempest with colossus. Yes tank counter colossus good job not helping at all.
Me: Ok, that looks easy. If uthermal says it, it is true of course. 10min later I got totally smashed by a few carriers and one colossus...... I just suck and will never get out of Diamond....
I must be missing something - this isn't what I'd call SkyToss...that's voids, carriers, and strorms...that's basically the cancer you see in all the ladder matches under Master. With true ST this composition wouldn't work.

It would be awesome if you could try to cover that. As a beginner at Plat 2 it feels like an unethical build. What Masters and Grand Masters do isn't really relevant to, what I can only assume is, 90% of the player base, who'll never get to those ranks.

I’m protoss D3. My losses when I void ray cheese are to players who start making cyclones with the upgrade and keep them alive
