I hung up my guitar 30 years ago (don't ask) and lost it all. I became feaful to pick it up again and acknowledge what I had lost. This Christmas my son talked me into finally taking a few wobbly steps. I took my beautiful vintage Kramer down off the wall and to The Medicine Man for complete overhaul. Then I discovered these stitch Method video lessons. Man you're giving me back all the joy I had lost. The knowledge and muscle memory are returning fast. Thank you so much for resusitating me. You are a guitar saint and now I stick with all your videos. You are the 'go to' dude!
Man I love this mans videos for one he teaches good stuff and for two he seems like the nicest guy in the world. A lot of guitar lesson videos has a guy coming off as a show off but this guy is just bad ass on the guitar and a good teacher through a video and it’s so easy to just keep interested in what he is teaching you! Keep the videos coming bro your helping people like me out so much! Rock on bro
Ok, Stich! I have been playing for many many years, and have take private lessons, group lessons, in person and on-line. But, since I found you awhile back my playing has moved forward so much. I actually feel as though I am a guitar player, and that's because of your material! I appreciate all you do here. Thank you!
AWESOME. Thank you so much. I have loved Hendrix since before I saw him live (1972). First album I ever bought was Experience. Played guitar as a kid (still have my 1958 3/4 size Rickenbaker), but gave it up for decades. Now as an old man, picking it up again, learning all the things I never knew as a kid (such as caged and scale shapes). You feel like a kindred spirit. Thanks!!
I hope other teachers don’t get upset about the information you are putting out this is very effective and awesome for people who either does not have the time or the money to get the personal one on one lessons please keep this quality work coming out to us bro
I see a lot of stuff on TH-cam, even from very prepared teachers and musicians, but I can assure that this guy is one of the very few that in each of those videos gives you REAL KNOWLDEGE, usable knowledge about guitar that I've not found anywhere else. Meanwhile other people try to do short videos as clickbait and try to give you general topics, you end up knowing something very little new about what they talked about, but without giving you a real intuition and a "mental way" to visualize and exploit what they said. THIS guy gives you the real intuition about a topic making this new knowledge USABLE, in very kind and simple way. Man, each of your videos are true lessons, the ones that you usually pay high for a 1vs1 lesson, so keep going like that because every time I watch some from you I truly learn something new. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND EXPERIENCE
Great lesson. I always find it interesting that even after all these years, guitar players are still studying Hendrix. It's amazing how his music is still not only relevant, but he is still one of the most influential guitar players. And for good reason, Hendrix is a true guitar god. More players should incorporate some of his style into their playing. But then, it's rare to even find a guitar player who doesn't list Hendrix as one of their biggest influences.
This video validates everything I've been teaching myself. I was able to figure out the CAGED system by playing the all variations of the 1-3-5 chord shapes in all 5 pentatonic hand positions. I haven't been able to really do anything with it. But this video now has given me a lot of ideas
This explains that iconic Hendrix style much better than all other videos I've seen on the subject on TH-cam. I really appreciate all that you're doing. Thanks so much and keep it up!
I don't know what it is ...But every time I watch one of your videos I feel HAPPY.....I can't play for Shi t but at least I'm happy trying.....Thanks...lol
Ian is a lizard people person. He's using his chameleon psycho powers on you. Of course you feel happy! He wants you practicing your earth guitar instead of standing in the way of his plans for world wide domination.
Stitch, man you rule! This really helped me connect some dots and I’ve been playing for years. You’re great in how you explain and demonstrate. I’m a new fan.
What amazes me the most is not really the simplicity of this, but how hendrix's creative mind allowed him to do so much with so little... Man was a genius ahead of his time
Once I learned why Hendrix played the way he did, it opened up a whole new part of my brain and made it very simple to see the chord shapes as I was playing rhythm and lead. Great content here. I think you could even take it a step further by showing some of his notorious licks in major and minor... he uses a ton of broken chord shapes to create those licks. I know it is difficult to do if you have small hands, but using those triad chords with the thumb on the bass note opens up a lot of opportunity to add some color to your standard chords because the pinky is free to roam...
Awesome lesson I've always played by ear this was definitely a lesson/direction I can adhere to and follow. You broke it down to be understandable in a less complicated way!! Thank you!!
THANK YOU!!! I am teaching myself with help from TH-cam (lots of Stitch Method), and started thinking I could see chords in the pentatonic, but wasn’t smart enough to really figure it out. THIS makes SO much sense! Thank you, thank you, thank you! For me, this is your most helpful video yet.
Just THANKYOU you are a master of the fret board and I'm learning something new each day ...I used to play in a band and I loved playing hey Joe and actually after watching you I realize I don't have to copy Hendrix note for note but most definitely it would be in the style of Hendrix ....played in e minor oentanic and your video explained what actually works best ty stitch I love hey Joe and so much fun to jam too
You bleeped yourself which made the moment even funnier. It's tough to stay in the zone when I have to pause and rewind. Thank you for believing in us!
Another really good example I use when I teach people guitar is "Remember"... bc he does exactly what you're saying he does, but he makes it a 1-5-4. (with a lil 12 bar turn) progression.
Thank you for this lesson, ive never tried using the pentatonic this way , ive always tried to see the positions together but never thought about doing both AND adding the cage, ive probaly watched 1000 different pentatonic vids
This is the best Hendrix theory lesson I've ever had, I knew a lot of the information already, but this has 'stitched' it all together for me !! Amazing! Lovely 😜🤘
@@StichMethodGuitar yes, it’s great. It has helped me a lot thanks. I’ve still got a way to go before I fully get my head round it though. Hopefully that won’t be too long with your help.
Another amazing lesson Ian, you present unique insights into the intricacies specific to guitar like no other. As a player i like to learn why so i can adapt and reuse. No one provides those insights better Stitch. Can't wait for more
You are so intelligent. Was there ever a time when you were like me, ignorant of all these things? I so wish you were my neighbor. I'd be breaking down your door to study these things from you. Why did none of my guitar teachers ever teach me these things? So sad, all the money and time I spent on lessons where they just used me to get money.
You alwaz come with so useful tips by simplifying in such a way that is useful from beginner to advance players. Plz keep posting such useful lessons. 😊
This is great, thanks. I've only been playing for a few years, and had just started working some of this out by myself. This video has unlocked lots more for me.
Awesome again. I didn't know that I have been playing the caged system for years but watching you talk about it it's all just clicking. I was watching shape 5 in slow mo and found this gem though :) Speed .25 11:16 Gave me a giggle. Peace!
I think Mike McCready and Pearl Jam would freely admit that Yellow Ledbetter is highly derivative of Hendrix. In fact, you can find videos online of live performances where they’ve actually turned it into a medley with Little Wing. And that’s not a bad thing to do if you’re going to sprinkle these types of techniques into your own solos: own the fact that it’s derivative, and quote Hendrix melodies directly (to make it even more obvious).
Just want to say Man!! You are a really great teacher and I can totally learn from your style. I’m a new subscriber but excited to see all your posts. Keep em coming and great job thank you. Rock on!
Man this is the best. Its one thing to learn hendrix. but to break down his playing and mind set about writing songs is unreal. thank you so much. P.s Stich method guitar picks would be sweet.
Man your videos are really great. Straightforward and relaxed approach. Unfortunately I haven't had the "ah-HA!" moment yet in guitar...been in limbo for years with only slight progressions. I'll have to just sit and replay these vids until it starts making sense....just sooo much content out there it's quite overwhelming at times...I'm gonna keep chiseling away at it though👍👍
Another great video! Thank you sir! A lot to digest and review. Appreciate you posting those links above also so we know where to go! Trying to get caught up...
Tim Pierce has the same type video subject saw it last night,,very interesting, doesnt use low notes much does chords with out the low E and low A allot and he throws in triads...as part of his playing style, not focused on hendrix but the caged in context to playing with fluidity which is what hendrix sound is all about all about

I love you too

Lost at the top of his game too. I often wonder what music the world was robbed by his passing.

I think I'll have to watch that like 100 more times to commit it to memory, so much info but all so good. Awesome lesson!

Thanks Mike, glad to have you around!
Excellent lesson, Stich! Starting to get this caged technique.
I’ve been trying to understand the CAGED system for YEARS. Watching this video, I’m ALMOST getting it. Subscribed!
Watch my caged primer playlist and then free Masterclass…. Guaranteed to work I promise
Linking the pentatonic forms to the CAGED chords has really helped my visualization. Thanks!

Fantastic video. Only five minutes in and I've gotten my lessons for the week. Thanks.

Super enlightening material bro I really had a blast taking that all in. Keep It Up!

Excellent lesson, combining elements of Jimi with Cage techniques in a very accessible way.
What this lesson teaches in less than 20 minutes is what took me years to figure out.
Oh,the power of TH-cam.
Thank you for this lesson, ive never tried using the pentatonic this way , ive always tried to see the positions together but never thought about doing both AND adding the cage, ive probaly watched 1000 different pentatonic vids
Wow this was a great lesson.Perfect speed and flow.
Thank you so much! This is the most clear and valuable explanation of the Hendrix style playing over chords I ever seen on TH-cam.
Thankyou! Learnt a lot of Hendrix songs over lockdown and this lesson has made everything I learnt make ALOT more sense! You are an excellent teacher!
I watched this video about 10 times. Well done. Learned soooo much..Caged system Scale Correlations Major Minor relationships etc. Great video.
Your Strat sounds great. especially for the Jimi lesson .
It’s awesome how you watched Hendrix and figured all that out upside down and backwards 🤣🤣🎸😎
Good insight into the pentatonic use. Most useful. Thanks
That is a great video. I have known the chords and the pentatonic patterns for years but this info is gold!
This is the best Hendrix theory lesson I've ever had, I knew a lot of the information already, but this has 'stitched' it all together for me !! Amazing! Lovely 😜🤘
Priceless lesson
I still haven’t got my head full around the CAGED Root system, but I’ve learnt more from you than anyone else. Thank you, love your channel!! 😎
Have you watched my Caged primer playlist?

Man, thank you sooo much for this video. I've been working on stringing this information together myself for a bit. This is exactly what I needed
Lots of good info. Watched it three times probably going to watch it several more. Good job Ian
You, sir, are a fine teacher.

Most definately
All music is derivative
Hendrix and Pearl Jam are from the same hometown of Seattle.
Great video lesson!

The E shape barre chord can go over 5th an 6th positions too, when acting as the IV or V chord.
