    More nice work Marc, I’m still completely in love with the lovely colour of this one and I’m really pleased that you are keeping to it. Hopefully I am sharing your vision of the finally finished car with a set of posh wheels. “Luvly” 😎

      Thanks Phil I cannot wait to see this one in paint and I think Mrs Simpson would be happy to. Hopefully we can keep plugging away. First stop will be the paint on the underside. So that will be exciting, thank you for your continued support of the channel 👍

    Great work Marc definitly one step closer . The eye protection looks great I really should invest and stop doing the safety squints 🤣.

    Great work, good idea to use the primer and paint, it adds an extra layer of protection and should keep the car rust free for years to come! Can't wait for more videos on the 89'👍😎

      Thanks buddy that’s the plan I don’t want to be doing this again any time soon for sure. So hopefully this keeps it all at bay. Once built up the car will be cavity waxed also.

    Top job as usual... Wish I would have seen you replace a quarter panel before I did mine. I wondered what I had done wrong when I could see into the car at the end of the heel board.... No bloody closing panel was there so had to make something up 🙈 live and you learn.
    Deffo getting one of those masks...fed up of a nose full of black boogers after grinding.

      @SimpsonsClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks buddy appreciate that. The little panels on the inside are a little annoying to do but make the car so solid. Check out the budget clubman I did a repair on those and they fitted a quarter panel. Thanks for watching and yes the mask is really good. I am happy with mine. Link is in the description

    That mask looks good 👍🏻. I had a pice of metal go under my face shield straight into the eye. Luckily I managed to wash it out. Next time I might not be as lucky, so I'll be having a look on ebay at for the same. I'll have a look in your description first though.

      It’s really good Rick I would recommend it. I am always wearing goggles etc but like I say I rubbed my face and it was in. There is a link in the description to the one I bought 👍

    My dream car to restore is a 1965 Volkswagen Type 14 Karmann Ghia Coupé, me and my Dad were searching on Facebook for a Karmann Ghia and we saw a 65 Karmann Ghia which was a total rust bucket along with being right hand drive and barely any work being done to it; pretty much everything on the car is broken.

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a beautiful car! I hope you get one!

      @@SimpsonsClassics so do I, but by the time I’m 17 will be 2025 and cars go electric in 2030 :(

    • @Car_and_classic_lover
      @Car_and_classic_lover 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@louiejonesponation Honestly I'm 17 this year and even if cars do go electric I'm still making the most of petrol cars for as long as I can! My Mini ain't going electric anytime soon and even if I'm forced to covert it to eletric it won't stop me loving cars and working on them.
      We are the future of classic cars and trust me, they will be around for years to come yet, most of the world isn't ready for everyone to change to electric cars imo for some years to come.👍

    Just bought my first '82 mini project. This same side door bin is absolutely rotten through.
    Would you suggest removing the quarter panel like you've done or cutting the door bin panel on the inside to gain access? Cheers.

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly good luck with your project any questions fire away.
      I think it’s definitely easier to cut the quarter out but I only did this as it was rotten. It can be done if you take your time it’s just harder to get to places to weld etc. I would suggest doing the whole door bin instead of the repairs if you can it’s easier to weld in.

    I used por15 on my subframe for the MK2. It lays nice the prep is a little annoying. I've been told that it fails after a couple of years we will see

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the review. That’s a few people who have said the same. I will keep looking for options I think. 👍

  • @classicvolvorestorations3848
    @classicvolvorestorations3848 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Used POR15 a couple of times and has failed after a couple of years. Prep is such a pain. Personally would never touch it again, there are so many better paints out there. Just go for a good quality surface tolerant 2k epoxy mastic and over coat with a durable 2k polyurethane paint if you want a gloss finish. Jotun and International sell great primers and paints ideal for chassis and underneath areas of cars.

      Thanks Mitch for that feedback that’s interesting to know. I am looking at options so this is really helpful. Cheers
