This was my first train set. Locomotive shell, track, and the containers are the only thing left. Loved that thing for the 8 years it ran. Now I have a professional DCC layout with sound, the shell of the loco sitting in a railway museum in the center of the set.
8:18 those are Rapido couplers, but they're not equivalent to knuckle couplers. The rolling stock has Bachmann's version of knuckle couplers already installed. Rapidos are very rarely used now on North American N scale trains and are mostly considered outdated
This brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. I remember about 8 years ago getting my grubby paws on my first little n scale locomotive. All I have left is the box to remind me of the best days of my life. Definitely subscribing, I would love to see more n scale!
Awesome set i’ll never forget back in the early 90s I got few Bachman sets as a kid I got one when I went to Reno with my parents my dad would always get me something to play around with inside our room in the casino and one year was a Bachmann train set I already had a layout at my house so getting a set topped it off great channel too I’m definitely subscribing 😀
Bachmann needs to give some of the N scale treatment to their HO sets. Metal wheels and nickel silver track. No excuse to still have plastic wheels and steel track with ugly road bed.
I have the newer version of this set and I can confirm that it has body mounted couplers and the details look more realistic compared to the older one which is awesome!
Also, with the newer version I have, it doesn't just take off when I push it slowly, it actually inches forward slightly. Man I love the changes they made to the set over the years! It's really come a long way in terms of realistic-ness!
The couplers are dummy couplers but they only will connect together manually. Those were before bachmann made n scale EZmates. They include the Rapido couplers which i didnt realize they did. I think thats a nice feature incase your someone that has older N scale rolling stock..
@@VintageRoadRail Yes it was! rewatch your video and you will see it, it's the back truck of the locomotive wheel close to the fuel tank. I seen it when you had it on the track in front of the station,

It's not a bad little starter set.

I have the same set on my N scale layout! I agree, it’s such a good looking set! 10/10 video!
I like it, great looking set!. Glad to hear you like the video. Thanks for watching. Got more N scale stuff coming soon.

Nice set. Bachmann n scale has really stepped up. Quieter than the older stuff. Subbed.

@@VintageRoadRail yep, doesn't make sense.
Kato unitrak is "gold standard" in N scale ready to run track...
I like Kato track. Thinking of building a small 2x4 N scale layout using unitrack.

Nice! Sounds like they made some nice improvements.
I've noticed that its random but with Bachmann's sets you either get the controller that you can hook accessorys to or just the regular one.
I think all your new sets don't have the AC connections.
Cool set. The second language on the back is French.

I might swap them out for the Rapido couplers. I dont have a lot of N scale stuff, but what I do have uses Rapido couplers.
You had a rear wheel on the back truck of the locomotive off the track!
Is that what the issue was? It was so small I could'nt see it. lol

@@markryan1754 Yep, sure was. Took me a bit, but finally saw it. That explains why it was fixed when I took it off and put it back on. lol
Bachmann is strait trippin for having the audacity to put a $289 for that set..
😂😂😂 Yeah, Blackman's MSRP price is nuts for sure, never pay that
Theres a place in Louisville,Ky To get train sets,rc cars,,hot wheels, and planes The place iss called Scale Reproduction
Thanks for the info. Im about 3 hrs or so from there. Will look them up next time im down that way.
Which set is better..... Kato or Bachman?
I would have to go with Kato.
Kato , by a longshot! Kato is built to last, Bachmann is entry level and basically disposable but not realistic priced.
I love N. HO is great too.
My favorite car that comes with this set is the gondola!
Little noisy running...but looks good
We do have a 2x2 N Scale layout. Just to see what ya can do with a starter set. Thank you for bring this to us🚂🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲🇨🇦🙋
