I just completed the 10 lesson videos on this rhino, and I have to say it’s the most wonderful drawing ✍️ I’ve ever created. Matt is an excellent teacher, and I learned a lot of new techniques and applications. Thanks Matt for opening up these lessons for everyone. Looking forward to joining you for more.
I followed you on this drawing in your online class..... So glad I signed up for it. Your instruction techniques are excellent and I think I have definitely grown as an artist..... thanks
Really like your videos I learn so much. My name is Dawn and I am new to art and TH-cam. I live in the country of Belize. Thank you for your videos great learning tool.
Thanks for this. I'm planning on doing a very detailed portrait of a very wrinkled old man using a toned paper which I've not tried before. I was unsure of whether or not graphite pores and wrinkles could be applied over white charcoal highlights but II can see from watching this that I can, it's just white over graphite that I need to avoid, unless I'm guessing I deliberately want to tone down any area of graphite? Very informative video. I have Subscribed to your channel.
Very helpful. I noticed you put a light layer ow white charcoal down and then added graphite on top. Would it be better to leave blank canvas in the charcoal areas and shade more lightly with dark tones ? I'm concerned with the muddiness. Really appreciate you sharing this as I'm about to lift a graphite drawing I'm working on and need this info. Saved me doing lot's of experimenting!! I will do a swatch anyway but at least I have some food info to go from. Thanks.
Thanks, i'm really learning from you each video you make, but i have question out off topic can you please tell me what the name of this music in back ground ?
Hello, when i use white charcoal on my charcoal drawings, it makes yellowish.. i use white paper is it because of that , does anyone knows it or how to get rid of this or avoid yellowish because it ruins my drawings
500 series is "premium" and is their best paper. The "best" designation does not literally mean it is their BEST paper. The strathmore series designations do more to confuse than to assist new or young artists
2 of the 5 rhino species have 1 horn, the Javan, and the greater one-horned rhino. The only true test for a unicorn is if it farts rainbows and we will never know the answer to that one :(

I use black charcoal pencil in my darkest darks to avoid that graphite shine. It really makes my pencil drawings pop.
I love it!!! I really like black and white drawings on toned paper. Really enjoyed it.

Strathmore doesn't have toned paper in their 500 series, so technically it is the best...
Please give me reference photo
