Amazing, I have been wanting to do one of these for so long and am excited to try. The internet has so many cool high contrast black and white photos to use as samples. This one looked a bit like Nicole Kidman - am I right? :)
Mara Black Maybe it was intentional, to aggravate us OCD'ers, which creates more comments ? lol .. coz I really can't see any artist leaving that there while they're working 😲😲😲

This white charcoal portrait on black paper video was awesome, but I think the highlights on the lips were way too strong. They stand out way too much. That should been tone down a bite. That said, this was very helpfull, in it approach and completion.
That is your opinion. I don't agree. The lips look amazing! They are actually the best part of the piece. Everyone knows art is subjective, meaning there is no standard for rating it "beautiful." The beauty of it is in the eye of the beholder. So why comment and tell an artist that you think something is too much? Just turn the channel.

There is a product called fixative that you can use. I have never used it for charcoal but for graphite but I'm sure it works the same.

How is it possible to make charcoal white?
Please answer! Do I need to fix white charcoal? It's not coarse at all right? the layer is smooth..

So, when drawing a portrait black becomes white and vice verser? I’m about ,for the first time Sherlock Holmes portrait using this way
what is the name of that technique?
What if you make a mistake?
Erase it with a regular rubber eraser. However, if you erase too much, smudges will show.
Do you mean that is a white pastel pencil?
great
