Adrian is a monster. Don't forget that. I have never heard a more talented guitarist. I've heard them all and Mr. Below rules the arena. No doubt in my mind.
Two insanely talented guitarist. Rob Fetters was great in the Psychodots as well. I can't believe they didn't have massive success with these songs at the time.
Saw (& taped) them in '87 at the now-defunct Hunt's in Burlington, Vermont. The club was located not far from the shores of Lake Champlain. Adrian dedicated "Lone Rhinocerous" to Champ, that body of water's local-legendary Loch Ness creature. It was actually kind of spooky, hearing those snaky guitar lines and wondering if Champ might be passing by, in the dark depths. I tell people that, had the Beatles somehow held it together another 15 or so years, progressed with the times, the gear, etc, they may have sounded something like the Bears. Maybe a lot. In any case, the Bears inherited the Beatles' creativity in writing, playing, harmonic structures and adventurous spirit....all the while remaining true to building great hooks at the core. With both groups, no two songs ever sounded the same. And how many bands can say that?
Such good fellows also. All were so sweet to my 2 kids that I took to Be Here Now in Asheville NC (ca) 2001. Charlie and Monica still grin large when the memories arise. Still have the window poster with all 4 and Martha’s signatures.

Saw them in Austin Tx and Washington DC. Just amazingly fun to see live. And while the musicianship is clearly showcased and could be considered eclectic, the songs are great pop rock tunes at their core. Great hooks.
Saw the Bears at Max’s, a small bar in Fells Point Baltimore. Fantastic band, snappy pop tunes, tight harmonies and Belew’s wild guitar playing. Opened with None of the Above into Fear is Never Boring. Incredible!
irishguy13 speaks to how a great band is ignored by every radio station minus college and sad so many haven't heard them or any of Adrian's incarnations. they sound great live. tim sydlowski via his wife's tablet

Nobody has "heard them all". I bet I know guys you never heard, and vice versa. Careful with hyperbole.
Robert Fripp knows talent. So, does David Bowie. Oh, and Frank Zappa. Um, Talking heads too.
Great inspiration!!
easily one of the best session musicians of all time...... he played on SO MANY fantastic records
i asgree but look at monty montgomery
Irrepressible! You can't keep a good man down. Music to my ears.
Thanks!
Adrian is my best friend
i have both albums, I'll have to dig them out later

saw them at the old Higher Ground in Winooski a while back . . . great show.
Love this album Adrian belew is one of the top 100 maybe top 10 depends on your perspective
Saw them in Vancouver, one of the best I’ve seen
I saw them at the Roxy in Hollywood once, as well as King Crimson and Adrian solo several times. Just saw the "Beat" tour too which was amazing.
Two great singers - two great guitarists - great drummer and bassist! Really a fantastic band. I saw them perform in LA once.
Such good fellows also.
All were so sweet to my 2 kids that I took to Be Here Now in Asheville NC (ca) 2001.

Personally like the Bears better than KC.
Caught KC several times including cool rehearsals at 5th and Porter.
They are all probably Dads and were missing their kids lol.
Huh, I was at that show at the Vic too. My buddy Larry bought the tickets. What a great show. What a great guy.
Had a buddy back in early 80’s who played Bears records. I didn’t catch on ‘til later, now I love ‘em. Good stuff.
One of my all time favorite bands.
The Bears were more fun than humans should have …. Lol
Never saw them play, but met Adrian once in 1982. Awesome guy and excellent band!
i saw these guys at centerstage in atlanta in 87 - best show i've ever seen!

Thanks for the breakdown! I'm seeing Adrian in a few weeks with Todd Rundgren's tribute to David Bowie! Should be insane.
After The Bears, I saw Fetters, Nyswonger and Arduser in bars for a $3 cover, playing 3 sets. I was in heaven.
Wow I'd love to see the Psychodots!
Sudsy Malone's!
Saw the Bears in Cleveland, late 80's. SOOOO good. And I'm finally beginning to get my hearing back!!
I saw them in Vancouver in the 80s - and I just got my hearing aids - really......!
Saw them in Austin Tx and Washington DC. Just amazingly fun to see live. And while the musicianship is clearly showcased and could be considered eclectic, the songs are great pop rock tunes at their core. Great hooks.
There is a lot of solid songwriting here, and it's hook city! Can't say that for every King Crimson record.
My Man
Will this great band someday gets its due? I think they will.
I agree, but it never happened. C'est la vie.
Always a fun show. Seen them in Nashville a few times.
+R.A Weske I was fortunate to see this band, as well as Adrian solo and King Crimson.
every song is excellent!!
1:49 to 2:15... That's insane...
"Little Blue River" would have been a worthy addition.
excellent !!!
This is great stuff. As a King Crimson fan, it's hard to believe I overlooked this.
thewilythylacine
This is Adrian's band. Great music. The best guitar playing. He is nuts. But you have it. Nothing like K. Crimson.
@@bryancoburn4361 look up the live from the cafe 2004 it is a keeper
Thanks for posting this, vinyl man! This stuff is hard to find!
