- Most Wanted 2 Prototype Gameplay showing the event "The Chase" in full from start to finish.As far as i know nobody outside of criterion has ever seen a full playthrough until now. The Chase is one of two missions seen in the prototype and shows off the finished level at the time.
The build in the video is from December 2011 but nothing major changes at all.

Watching this again, and yeah, instant goosebumps. This is still the worst game cancellation imo
to everybody mentioning the frame rate: i know and there is nothing i can do as this is a developer build for ps3 that was never optimised and has a lot of debug code running that slows it down even further. in the future you will see later versions on my channel and the frame rate does get way better as the game develops until its pretty much the same as the release version.

I always was in Rockport, after finishing the game and crused always and just chilled a little bit... if the don't bring nfs mw2 out, let them pls do a remastered version of MW with only better graphics and mabey some new cars to buy and tune and sell that, instead of a shitty new nfs... they would sell sooooo much more units lol

1.it's just my own and others personal opinion because of the car list and billboards just makes me think at least 2006 or early 2007

This concept had a lot of potential and passion. They even added something like pursuit brakers with some hacking stuff?!? Anyway that truck scene when the drivers finally escaped reminded me of crash mode from Burnout which was amazing if we had it in the final build.
i wouldnt say "hacking". beforehand you would unrealistically crash into vehicles to make them spill their payloads. but here, you would use the arclight device, which is definitely an EMP based weapon, that would cause vehicles to shut down and crash from losing control. seems like they liked the concept so much that they took it and later used them in rivals.

Eh not so much. It was one of the concepts thrown around it would just have garages normally laid out events but with same physics and driving. Plus it makes no sense because MW2005 had a sequel - NFS Carbon

Also, no, MW 2012 had a full story planned, that would include Cross and Mia.
And, actually, it does make sense. The game keeps going forward with the story, as Cross still considers you "the Rockport fugitive".

MW 2012 doesn't follow MW 2005's Pedigree, obviously, but that's because of EA, not because of Criterion. Reason why I stopped having any hope that Ghost will do anything.

@@dragobruder6328 I like original MW but I think this was a great game. Only problem was the name. It has nothing to do with "Most Wanted" or "Need for Speed". I am sure this isn't criterion's fault. EA probably told them to release the game with "MW" to sell more. Game allows you to play with any controller - unlike new games- and gives you ability to fully customize the layouts even with one button having more than one function. Map was amazing and every street in this game has it's personality. Roads feel like they were made to be driven. Physics were not realistic but most importantly they were "FUN". I have never played multiplayer but it looks nice. In my opinion best thing about this game is physics feel amazing with a wheel. If you play with track tires it even feels realistic. Of course there were bad things about this game but it was an awesome game for me.
Ghost, please make this kind of game happen, without weapons and shit. Make the cops like this, and make pursuit breakers, cooldown zones etc
weapons are not only weapons but are "utility" arclight / speedbreaker / thermal cam

Really makes ya wonder what went down behind the scenes that caused such drastic last minute changes.
Just the powerup/ability mechanics alone seem like they would have made this game so fun, yet so different and fresh at the same time, without necessarily feeling like a HP2010 copypaste. Remote fucking pursuit breakers. Yeah.

Seeing this game just makes me sad. I remember being a little kid during the Black Box era of need for speed. Ghost better make the next game a stand out title. They shouldn't remake any game or remaster a game they should make a game that will blow people's minds

This is a concept I had in my mind for the best NFS although I didn't know it was being done.
I absolutely love the setting. Gray-ish, dark, and that isn't even night time.
Same with the feelings of the story. I want to be threatened, punched... I wanna feel like I'm in danger, but I love being in it. Please scrap the cheesy lines from the beggining, but that outro gave me fucking chills.
This is the best feeling NFS can bring.

Oh, how terrible it is that Criterion never got a chance to fulfill such an ambitious project.
I hope that for NFS 2022, or 2024 they'll be able to realize this concept.
Tbh I think this concept is finished (or discarded by now) - Most of the ideas from the original Most Wanted 2 concept like the gritty look and lots of weapons got moved over to Need for Speed Rivals. Problem is that NFS Rivals was more like Hot Pursuit 2010 2.0. Anyway I hope NFS 2022 is a good game that stands on its own identity, a game good enough that it could potentially warrant a direct sequel. Last time we got a direct sequel was Carbon back in 2006 which continued where Most Wanted 2005 left off.
We need to see more missions tbh.
The other builds had some dates and times in their race intros.
Maybe, if you were to show more, we could connect more dots to what the story originally was.
So far you're playing as the MW/C guy, but as a fugitive, with Cross (probabaly) on your tail.
And Mia was kidnapped by some dude.
There is a GPS tracking device in your M3 and that's probably the reason to why you need to most likely scrap it and with the scrap money to buy a new car from one of the garages.
The game would have probably employed the Payback "barn" finds mechanics since they are kinda present in the 2012 release.
In terms of customization and heat level reduction, i think it was too early in development for it to have been implemented.
And the plot hole of why you are a fugitive might have been filled in a later mision. Because the few races that have been shown on other channels presented some timestamps.
Anyway, we need more content.

Edit: also this whole intro is just stunning.
This is one of the most beautiful in gaming history.
And you know what's really sad? The city hasn't changed a bit. They really didn't have time to do anything. And it's so surprising how well balanced the team was.
It's clear that the map, story, mechanics and inner workings are at the same level of development.
Criterion was such an amazing team of developers.
And who knows how it could have tied into the mobile game.
Could you imagine the mobile game actually being a whole different thing with a story complementing the one from the console game.
Actually if you play mw 2005 you know why the character is a fugitive you get bounty to race blacklist members until you get your bmw back and by then you are the most wanted guy so you flee

This game technically happens after Carbon, probably.
Remember that before Cross resigned, he put the MW/C protagonist at the top of the _National Blacklist._ Palmont PD would have to be tipped off by someone about who took down Darius in order for action to be taken.

Along with that, GTAwiseguy? Or someone I don't recall his name was about to make a documentary of this cancelled protoype but EA came over and took the devkits and his PC along with the HDD away. So he couldn't make the video and cancelled it. I can't remember the guy's name ugh, he even made documentary for NFS Underground and Most Wanted.. It'd be great if someone tells me the name.. I really can't find it out.

A very very late response mate coming from future and let me tell you, this build was actually first found on PS3 dev kit by someone nowhere, then he port the game so it can be played on real PS3 (cfw PS3 are required) but yeah as you can see becuz its unfinished game you can see all drawbacks there including a laggy ass FPS and unpolished texture jn some place

Concept looks better than final game
The biggest reason for that is they want to show off what they can do with idea. Take the sparks for instance. They're simulated, take consideration of both camera, speed and gravity and then motion blurred with direction and speed. That isn't gonna end up on release, it's for sure.
Also MW2012 still looks phenomenal, it isn't aged a day. At least it looks better than the Payback disaster which released on a next gen console. That's saying something.

@@KitsuneNoNatsu Sadly no. Large transport vehicles like big rigs are completely absent from the game. The largest traffic cars in Paradise are buses (city bus and rural bus), the box truck (and its electricity maintenance variant) and the postal delivery van.
I suppose the rural box truck (and its tow variant) could count as well, but they're closer in size to a pickup truck.

We could always mod MW 2012 and remake the game ourselves.
Problem is, no one wants to do it. Oh, and certain things, such as the story may be even impossible to port or re-create. Shame that we live in this reality.

NFS Fans: NFS 2019 should have a story with a serious tone with some Underground customization with balanced driving, grip, and drifting physics along with Most Wanted 05' cops and a fantastic open world environment that fits the game's physics as well as a balanced car list.

There is a sad moment in when grey M3 E92 gets taken down in launch trailer, a very important car through development and story that was planned. It probably symbolises turning point in development to Burnout style or far worse to lack of features, rather than a fruitful mix of MW05 and HP2010.

This game was an actual reality, the map as well as most of the background vehicles (and the M3) were all present in NFS Most Wanted (2012). Before the game’s release they definitely changed things up but still pretty much the same game.

Speedyheart It definitely can be possible. If modders have been able to do absolutely insane things such as DLC sized mods for games like the Fallout series which have taken years to create, anything is possible.
yes however the fallout series usually comes with mod tools. mw2012 did not.
Speedyheart ohhh. Modders still find a way anyways. Some games I’ve played don’t have official mod support let alone tools and they’re still been able to get some decent mods released. It’s still possible
yes i know i have created many mods for older nfs games (and also modified some of the mw2 builds for stuff that you will probably see later)

And right here folks, this very moment, was the downfall of gaming. EA started with its greed for money, and we lost the best sequel we could get, for a rushed game without cops (even though "Most Wanted" stayed on the title).
Its Criterion's fault kinda as well, they had 2 years and spent half a year doing prototypes, concepts and ideas that lead to nowhere. But we never know.
Ea greedy from 2008
The city looks very similar to Fairhaven City from Most Wanted 2012, the long short jumps, the bridge with the truck having its load go off, if you look carefully this city kinda does look like Fairhaven.

Reminder EA doesn't actually give a crap about us. Just gotta keep the shareholders happy, which is only a short term strategy, when they really start hurting within the next two financial quarters, people are going to dump their stock quickly and tank the company. EA deserves it.

I don't think it's scrapped. All the scenery exists in the game. So they didn't restarted development, didn't made a story & modification mechanics because they didn't had enough time.

I _STILL_ want this game. If the rumors of a Most Wanted remake are true ... I honestly want this game more than that. I want a return of the HP2010 weapons systems with MW-style gameplay and customization.
