    I have to disagree with one thing. Jar Jar was far more relevant than Rose. For all of his many flaws, he brought the Gungans and Naboo together in order to stop the trade federation. He also (in AOTC) is the one who was responsible for granting Palpatine the emergency powers he would later use to birth the Empire.

      Sure, but he means something to the story.
      The bumbling fool leads the way to giving unlimited power to Sideous, probably a perfect way to end his arc. You may not like his character, but he meant something to the story.

      Our prayers go out to him, and that he gets consulted by actually talented people when making episode 9...but even if the movie is any good, i'm only going to be happy that this sequel trilogy is finally over and that we can move on to better things.
      Like D.B Weiss and David Benioff's star wars trilogy.
      Fortunatly Rian's trilogy has been cancelled, so there is still hope for the future of Star Wars.

      1. He assumed that Rian would treat the sequel trilogy with respect...and that obviously didn’t happen. Rian Johnson perhaps the worst person you could’ve gotten to do the last jedi.
      2. True, but he can at least try and salvage what little potential this trilogy has.
      Its not much, but there should be something.

    I agree with all ten points. I hated the pointless casino arc, Luke's role and death, the prolonged cat and mouse scenes etc etc. You've nailed the problems with this sequel. It is so bad it makes you question the events of The Force Awakens. The director/writer was trying so hard to be different that he made some rookie mistakes. I really don't care for the final movie anymore.

    Only ten? This movie was the final stretch that drove Star Wars off a cliff. It’s dead now. Well to me it is.
    Btw how did Rey know what a Jedi mind trick was? Also, how did she not only know what a mind trick was but also how to use a Jedi mind trick which is an advanced move. What explanation could possibly answer that? Even if she was one of Luke’s Younglings she still shouldn’t be powerful enough to actual use the damn move lol.

    • @Animefan-uk8pw
      @Animefan-uk8pw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Smith I thought they would make rey the daughter of Luke Skywalker, it would have made perfect sense, as it would explain how she was able to learn the force really quick. But no the director probably didn't pay attention to the force awakens and just made up the story as he went along. What a waste.
      And also it would explain why she was able to fly the millennium falcon despite never flying it before, because it runs in the Skywalker family tree.

    I agree. I've seen the Last Jedi once, and I'm still incredibly mixed on it, I too disagree with a lot of choices made. Especially surrounding Luke's character and the use of Snoke. Part of me feels as if J.J Abrams will change the reveal of Rey's parents in Episode 9 however. I think the main problem with the sequel trilogy is that they didn't plan out the story beforehand, which is why this one seems so different in direction than the Force Awakens, they're just making it up as they go, and because a different person has written each movie so far it feels as if certain aspects go nowhere. I'm seeing it again soon, so I'll make my final decision about it then. Great video :)

    • @naeemiqbal9815
      @naeemiqbal9815 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When Disney bought Star Wars and announced a new trilogy I thought they'd penned out the whole trilogy.... after watching Star Wars 8 it's clear they're just making it up as they go along. That's not strategic but suicidal... especially considering how much they paid for it.

    • @blackadder5517
      @blackadder5517 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. There's a video I watched not long ago that compared it to Lord of the Rings saying "You can do what they did with the LOTR Trilogy, where they took a few years to plan it out before going into production and have it be fully fleshed out, or you can do what the Hobbit films did, rush right into it and release something that's a lot more flawed". I personally am very disappointed in the way Disney are handling this franchise. I have decided not to see the Han Solo film, seeing how many warning signs there are based on production troubles, and after Episode 9, the only spinoff film I plan to see is the Obi Wan, and even then, I'll only see that if it looks like they're going to do it justice.

    • @manojcp2250

      @@luis-il2fl Revenge of the sith saved the prequels because, of all the bad things u can say about the first 2 films, they had a plan of how this trilogy should play out. So even if the first 2 sucked, the 3rd could make things right.
      That's not the case with Last jedi. It messed up the story stuff and barely set up anything for the finale. So there was no chance for the finale to successfully work in case of the sequel trilogy.

  • @stanislavkraus6933
    @stanislavkraus6933 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Good points, I was really disappointed in this movie and that comes from someone who didn't like Force Awakens. I didn't have some crazy theories about Snoke or Rey's parents, but I was willing to give this new trilogy a another chance and now I simply don't care about anything. Also that scene at the end with the kid using a the force on a broomstick, ruins force more than midichlorians...

    • @tmac326
      @tmac326 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd say the kid using the force is right on par if not worse than the midichlorians but at this rate, it seems like the midichlorians are still canon (if they don't reveal Rey's parents to be someone with force capabilities in the next movie).

    I have to agree with you for reason 4. I didn't like how they killed off Luke and I didn't understand how Luke actually died. Maybe you can say that when Kylo Ren stabs Luke's projection, Luke actually felt the stab and died but that point isn't valid because when Luke's projection got shot by a bunch of AT-AT's, he was alright.

    You missed one thing.
    The use of comedy in this movie.
    The scene in which Snoke made general hux lie on the ground and move here and there served no purpose than making people laugh.
    Another stupid scene in which water is leaking out from Finn's suit.
    It was just there to create laughs.
    This forced humor hurt the film a lot for me.

    5:08 The answer is simple. Being there as a projection is much more OP than being there in person. When the AT-ATs starting blasting him, it looked like he survived because he was a projection, which led Kylo Ren to confront him and then that bought the resistance time to escape. If he was there in person, he would have been dead when the AT-ATs starting blasting him, meaning that Kylo would not confront him face to face, which meant the resistance would have not gotten enough time to escape. The first order would have destroyed the remainder of the resistance.

    Snokes death can be used to sum up the whole movie. Cool nonsense. BvS has great visuals, some cool action scenes, unexpected moments, a nonsensical plot and a total misunderstanding of the character and critics hated it. The last jedi does the same things and the critics loved it. They even have some of the same defences as the dc fans, "if you didn't like it you just didn't get it" or "I see the flaws but i like it anyway", and then act like your an idiot for disagreeing. I think your the only reviewer I've seen that hasn't done this. You say the both have good and bad moments that hold them back from being great movies but overall they aren't bad.

    I hated how fuel consumption was all of a sudden a thing. We never had to worry about it in the precious films, but all of a sudden it is a core plot point. I would have thought that these guys had technology like nuclear fusion or something that could power all this tech for decades without having to stop at the intergalactic gas station every 3000 miles. It would be like all of a sudden having troopers be concerned with how much ammo was in their blaster.

    People want their father's SW when the whole movie is taken up with a Millenium Falcon HyperDrive that doesn't work repeatedly until it does. A 2nd Death Star that is apparently not finished, but as the Emperor says, "Now Witness the Firepower of this fully Armed and Operational Battle Station." When the first DS was blocked by a moon, running out the clock was good moviemaking and pacing...not fat or padding. Alderan is destroyed, but a lifeless moon is allowed to be. Well it was a long time ago, and the Picard Maneuver comes after our time in the sci-fi multiverse. Some do have the patience unlike the heightism survivor in the Watchmen who cuts off the arms of a fellow prisoner interfering with his swift revenge on Rorschach. But hey, that's just me.

    This is why you have to have consistent directors/writers in any type of series. The tone and plot are disjointed and confused. I already had a problem with Rey Mary Sue being so skilled after Luke had to have 3 movies to be a decent jedi but this movie is just dissatisfaction personified. With Rey's parents not being important, Luke's weird death and the pointless uncinematic killing off the long time fan favorite character Akbar. Purple haired lady (forgot her name) being insanely dumb, Snoke being taken down like he's nothing and Phasma's character mistreatment. The Disney Star Wars saga is really testing my patience as a fan right now. I just hope they don't fuck up Clone Wars Season 7.

    I agree with a lot of them, but I have one thing to disagree with. I was never interested in Snoke. He could have had a backstory with Luke, which would've caused him to have questioned his notion on the Jedi and the traditions of the force and the galaxy. Instead, all I saw was a caricature of typical evil-doers in Star Wars. As the Last Jedi began, I was having little hope for how they could make this character.

    Your idea that it would have been out of character for Luke to have attempted to kill Kylo is wholly wrong. It is, logically, what the jedi would have been doing throughout their history to any kid who threatened to become a sith. It's perhaps the biggest proglem with the entire franchise that Anakin wasn't killed by the council at once. That's what should have happened but of course it couldn't for the sake of having the saga. All the jedi methods were laid out: They use the force to monitor when force-sensitive babies are born. They do this so they can get them early enough to remove them from their parents before they can develop normal emotions and emational attachments. This is vital to the safety and order of the universe since just one sith has the capacity to wreak terrible havoc within it. Anakin was an aberation (created by a sith in secret from the jedi) who was missed by the jedi scouts because he was created under a dark side shroud and allowed to grow to a point at which he was TOO OLD TO TRAIN. The entire council knew it, stated it, and there it should have ended but for...the difficulty of him *having to be allowed to live or else there would be no saga* so Lucas worked around this by having Obi-Wan (out of sentimentality for his mentor Qui-Gon (which he wuouldn't have ever felt had he been the jedi he should have been)) vow to train Anakin irrespective of what the council decreed. So, rather than also kill Obi-Wan as a failure and disgrace to his order *and* Anakin, Yoda was 'overruled' and Obi-Wan was allowed to train the boy. It all went to shit, as any jedi who knew his history would have been able to predict.
    So, it actually makes perfect sense that Luke would decide to kill Kylo. The only thing wrong here is that he failed! I mean, WTF? Luke, who easily defends holds his own against the mighty Darth Vader, is unable to defeat a mere kid? Oh pur-leese!
    Next, your praise of Mark Hamill for being such a true professional is totally misguided. it would be more accurate to say that Hamill was so eager to reprise his role as Luke and consolidate his legacy as an actor in a role of a lifetime with another chance of a lifetime in being around and in shape to make more Star Wars films when the others are either dead, too old, or disinterested, simply couldn't refuse to be involved *despite* hating the script. A better man would have publicly spoken out in disgust and told them to shove their script up their arses. He would have lost out on millions of dollars but he would have had the adoration of millions of people who genuinely love the original Star Wars *and* forced Disney to either make the right picture or get someone else in to play Luke (and we all know what that does to film franchises).
    I find it difficult to blame Hamill for his choice because he suffered struggling to make his career work as he would have liked despite having been the hero in the most famous and beloved movie of all time while Harrison Ford went on to super-stardom when he was just a supporting actor. He had to have felt that this was his moment at last - only to discover that Abrams and then Johnson had chosen to shit all over the original characters and wipe them out (Chewie's next guys, mark my words).
    I didn't watch the rest of your video.

    OK, tinfoil hat on, I've JUST thought of a conspiracy theory to explain TLJ! 😀 Rather than Rian Johnson being incompetent as a screenwriter (still possible), what if he was forced to adhere to specific story points by Kathleen Kennedy and her story group, points which he hated, so he deliberately wrote a shit story that technically met those objectives, AND Kathleen was too inattentive or ignorant or incompetent to realise how shit the story was and just loved that Rian had hit the story SJW/PC/social commentary objectives she/her story group had? 😐

      even you can't admit that your favorite movies have flaws too... pitiful. in fact, why you need a TFA vs TLJ when at this point it's pretty fucking fucking obvious who will be the winner in you personal view. it would have made more goddamm sense made a video about TFA vs R1, since even by today they keep debating over what is better . here theres no brainner you like a millon buthurts will call the winner as the second motherfucking coming of christ, while the looser will be seeing as the next 911. you have become toxic like everybody in the geeky community, you don't have the absolute truth and you will act like an anti-social jerk off for the rest of your life. have a nice day you dumbass false authority.

      Comiclord oh, so a 9 years old mexican girl that can understand english, know how to fight, know how to control her power, (if you read the comics the mutant powers are more harder to learn than the force) know how to drive, know how to carry a body full of six tons of adamantium, and never get traumataize when she bruttally kill bigger dudes than her is more belieble than a 20 year old woman that born in a desert planet full of old ships so she learn a lot of shit to survive in it? Yeah seen legit.... admit it you people use that dumb mary sue term to use it as an argument to dislike character. FUCKING Guillermo del toro said that it is a trope that define the type of direction that the story is going not a legit critysim, because this entire controversy is like being in a orgie and looking for the guy who has the best orgasm until you realise that no one is making an orgasm because they can'y start the sex because someone is awkardly wathing them.... or something like that any way, is just a pretty doble standard complaing.
      And by the way this guy like the justice league movie better than the avengers. So don't trust this fuck.

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi was actually fun and entertainment. Rey's parents actually being nobody was good but the fact that The Force Awakens set something else up. The Knights of Ren weren't in this movie so you can't really complain. Luke was good but the setup in The Force Awakens really kind of made him lack. Luke's death made more sense in second viewing. Though I think that he would have a better death if he came in person. I liked Luke's dark tone he had, because he had potential for him today become evil and replaced Snoke. I actually liked Snoke but you should take away his force abilities. Yeah, I hated the casino scene but it was important so just cut some if it out. The Rebels being tracked should have been cut. I think if it was the Rebels had a cloaking device going to system after system but The First Order could track them. Rose was terrible. Finn could have done everything and then die at the end. The story and pacing were weird. You should search up "How the Last Jedi could have fixed in One Line."
    Overall, I did enjoy The Last Jedi.

    As a star wars fan, I honestly didn't hate this movie. For me, it's a 7/10. Granted, I was let down with a lot of questions I had after The Force Awakens. The biggest one being who is Snoke. Not to mention the hatred I have towards Rose and how useless she is, Vice Admiral Holdo not telling Poe anything, which was seriously pointless, and anything dealing with Canto Bight. But, my favorite things about it are Luke, Rey, Kylo Ren, the effects, the music, the action scenes, and Snoke despite knowing little to nothing about him. This movie probably isn't for everyone, but I still like it despite its faults.

    I think that the stuff with Rey, Luke, and Kylo was great, however the First Order, Cantobite, and all the missed potential in the film are real problems. The Last Jedi is 5/10 for me. It’s still better than Rise of Skywalker in my opinion.

    To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Last Jedi. The plot is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of ring theory most of it will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Luke’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The TRUE STAR WARS FANS understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these storylines, to realise that they’re not just about space wars- they say something deep about FAMILY ORIGINS that subverts all expectations. As a consequence people who dislike The Last Jedi truly ARE idiots - of course they wouldn’t appreciate how risky it is, for instance, the deep emotional impact in TLJ such as Luke’s existential line to Kylo "See you around kid", which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Rian Johnson’s genius unfolds itself on their movie screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
    I believe Rian Johnson has made the most epic, emotionally powerful Starwars film ever. Hands down.The Last Jedi is so very different, exciting, surprising. So many emotions, so many amazing moments.. Intense, funny, emotional, exciting. It’s jam-packed with absolutely jaw dropping moments and I loved it so, so much. I’m still shaking. Gripping, touching, funny and powerful w/ gorgeous shots and the most badass battles. When it gets going, holy crap does it get going.
    Hands down the best Star Wars movie since Empire,it is incredible. Character at the forefront, amazing action and so so so much emotional payoff decades in the making. I will be watching this one a lot. ALso There’s a scene that I keep playing over and over in my head, that is so stunning and unexpected that I don’t want to forget how I felt seeing it for the first time. This movie feels unlike any other Star Wars movie in all the ways I hoped.
    And yes, by the way, i DO have a Star Wars tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only - and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

      Great insight. The Last Jedi somewhat reminds me of Alexandre Astruc's manifesto "The Birth of a New Avant-Garde: The Camera-Stylo." It argues that "cinema was in the process of becoming a new means of expression on the same level as painting and the novel ... a form in which and by which an artist can express his thoughts, however abstract they may be, or translate his obsessions exactly as he does in the contemporary essay or novel. As such, it continues to generate extensive and highly contested debate with regard to its creative efficacy, its cultural status, and whether it advances or is detrimental to the feminist cause. The Last Jedi is difficult to define, as it includes a wide range of subgenres and themes. Isaac Asimov said: "The Last Jedi can be defined as that branch of film which deals with the reaction of human beings to changes in science and technology."

      It is supposed to make sense. When you enter a fictional world whether it be Middle Earth, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Game Of Thrones, they all have laws that run within those worlds that are consistent. What you're saying is like saying "Frodo put the ring on and remained visible to everyone" - deal with it, its magic, it not meant to make sense.
