My intention was to simply provide an honest recount of this flight experience. I had never seen an aircraft interior in such a state before, hence my "harsh" comments towards it. Forget the cosmetic issues, what about the engines and overall updates for the airplane to FLY! Were you able to check on the electrical wiring, gas tanks and engines not to forget the competency of the Pilots? I doubt not.
As someone who formerly worked with B6. I always enjoyed working the 190s despite their tight bin compartments. Everyone hates them but I even bought a lanyard and keychain for them. Was able to get a stack of the old emergency cards from storage before I left as a memory of them.
Yikes! That sure does not look like a good experience. I personally would have flown Southwest nonstop RDU-MDW. Same 32 inch pitch assuming you get a 737-800 or Max.
If it weren't for how worn they were, I would still look forward to riding on jetBlue's E190s - since they are really cozy aircraft (though the window alignment does bug me a little heh)
Another excellent video! This is shocking to see this from jetBlue as my past experiences flying on them (all in A320s) were fantastic. What I would do if I were you is probably contact their customer care department and share these pictures with them. As compensation they might give you some points or a voucher for your inconvenience. Regardless this is unacceptable and jetBlue should take responsibility for keeping up its standards. Thanks for sharing!
I flew one of JetBlue's e190s (N266JB) in the summer of 2021, it was looking long in the tooth but still enjoyed it and glad to have a seat back monitor (even with as ancient as it is). With regards to the TWA hotel, it's definitely worth a visit if you have a long enough layover. Maybe even get a day room to relax and freshen up if you don't have lounge access. It's definitely not for a budget traveller. I've stayed there twice & as a history fan and avgeek, it's worth it. You can't beat the history, style or convenience, especially if you're flying JetBlue. I'll be the first to admit it has room for improvement.
I actually got to fly out of TWAs old terminal in 1985 and was kind of wowed by it, since I had seen a lot of movies that had filmed there…it was a bit surreal visiting again all these years later this past October when we had some time to kill before our flight home to Southern California
You got to know that airlines suffered during the pandemic and they are trying to make for lost time but theres no excuse for a dirty seat smile and be happy jerry
I’ve never even flown an E190. This video still tells me what to expect when flying the JetBlue E190. Very outdated indeed. I have no saying on how to feel when those planes retire. Accept maybe make the passenger cabin look more welcoming. As for the A220-300 replacing them along with older A320s that plane is state of the art. Looks like a spaceship.
Flew on many of JetBlue’s E-190s from their first few years. In fact, just after JetBlue started service to Austin, I flew my first E-190. Close to a 4 1/2 hour flight. Since then out of JFK, flew to ROC, ORD, BOS and even PIT (service was dropped). Never a problem then. Just prior to this past Christmas, went down on a E-190 JFK-PBI. Full flight. Everybody had a big bag as carry-on. Many of them had to be gate checked because they couldn’t fit into the overhead compartments. Flew on N232JB and have known that these aircraft were being fazed out. In fact, JetBlue had already sold off 4 to a regional carrier in Australia. This aircraft I flew was showing its age. I’m sure they all are. They’re not going to put any more money into them although they should keep them clean and shiney inside. Still a big JetBlue fan!
Enjoyed your video. You really pointed out well the sad condition of that aircraft. As I mentioned on your thread below, I'm a former TWA employee from JFK, and even though we flew old airplanes, we never put an aircraft in service that was in that kind of deteriorating condition. The landing, however, didn't appear to be that bad. I've certainly had a lot worse. My guess is it probably was the FO.
You don't need to be a pilot to say it felt a certain way, as it's obviously from the passenger's perspective (and even then, between passengers, experiences differ too!)
TWA..........i flew TWA from Minneapolis to then..idlewild airport...16 yrs old, first time flying.........lots of shake, rattle and roll when those big four engines started up and noisy too...but being my first time flying ...it was fantastic.....thanks for the TWA info....just subbed to...✈✈
It’s a shame that JetBlue is treating their E190s like this. I flew on two from London City Airport to Edinburgh (and back) in the spring and BA has taken good care of their aircraft. I’ve never flown on JetBlue (they don’t fly into DSM - closest is probably O’Hare or KCI) but this video leaves a bad taste in my mouth for trying their product.
This doesn't apply to all JetBlue nor all their E190s. I have flown their E190 before this and that aircraft was in great condition albeit the same old cabin. JetBlue maintains their planes well generally, this was an outlier incident. Their A320, A220, A321 products are day and night compared to the 190.
That grounded A321neo is likely grounded due to Pratt & Whitney engine issues that plagued the Indian airlines a lot, completely shutting Go First Airlines down and causing IndiGo to lose lots of its fleet.
The E190s are on the way out at JetBlue, so besides some cleaning and light cabin/IFE repairs, there isn't much being spent on the customer-facing portions of the experience. The napkins in the overhead panels were probably put there by a customer on a prior flight, maybe they were cold or perhaps there was water dripping from condensation. The dirty seats and ripped seatback pockets are regretful but this aircraft type is steadily leaving the JetBlue fleet and will be completely gone some time in 2025. It does detract from the overall experience, I agree, but it also makes little sense to spend on cosmetics if that very aircraft is to be withdrawn within weeks or months. The seats themselves are still quite comfortable and the windows are large (unless compared to the A220). As for the IFE, be glad you have it! Most airlines don't put any sort of IFE in planes this small that are typically used on flights of 2 hours or less, so if you had working satellite tv that's better than you'd get on some larger equipment from United or American. For the record, JetBlue has never charged for tv, movies or FlyFi. The card swipe option was put in the seats when the planes were delivered but they were not used.
I flew B6 in 2000 from BUF to JFK. The inflight TV was not working. They gave me a voucher to pay for using the TV on a future flight, so I think they did charge for a short time in the first year. I still have that voucher somewhere because I never used it while they did charge and didn’t fly B6 again until they opened the LGB hub.
@@erik_griswold I'm sure somebody from JetBlue might remember if they ever used the swipes but I didn't think they ever charged for watching tv or using the seatback screens. If they did, it was for a very short time. Regardless of whether they charged for them or not, JetBlue used to give vouchers when the system was inoperative because for many people that was a big part of the overall JB experience. I'm guessing they don't do that any more.
@@erik_griswold If they did charge for the tv usage, it was on a trial basis or for a very short time. The issue is that the seats are not individually controlled, and neither the software nor the flight attendants could control which screens were on versus which were dark. My understanding is that the swipes were there for 'future possibilities' -David Neeleman was an innovator while leading JetBlue, and he may have envisioned using the card swipes for a buy on board program, pay per view movies, or perhaps the tvs once the technical features were added and working. Or maybe a combination of all of the above. The refund may have been a goodwill credit or voucher. People sort of expected the tvs - it was an early part of the JetBlue brand - and when the screens were dark, passengers were often left disappointed. A credit goes a little way to rectifying that.
Thanks for your review. I’ve flown those e190’s many times from BOS to JFK. I’ve found the flights comfortable and “yes” the planes are worn. However given the low cost and it’s better than driving, I don’t have a problem with it all. In fact doesn’t even cross my mind. So your assessment is harsh and unfair to JetBlue. If you are looking for perfection you should pay more for first class with another airline. Sounds like that’s more your “fit”.
I flew my first time on JetBlue with E190, and it was exciting. Pilots say Jetblue wants the A220 to replace the E190 rather than the E2, the main reason is Airbus aircraft with better deal and easier training.
I fly a lot and nearly 2/3 of my travel involve an Embraer leg to/from the hub. I think E17x/E19x cabin are not well designed. I have never seen a very clean E17x/E19x, even very new jets. The cabin fixtures have a lot of small openings, gaps and weird curvatures, so I think it's harder to keep clean and get into the nooks and crannies. These gaps and opening changes when panels flex during inflight, so I think it can trap a lot of debris. As others also pointed out, this is often used on short flights, so they get a lot of passenger cycles. Also, I think the E17x/E19x have also a questionable air circulation system. If you pay attention to the ceiling, bin panels, and air vents, you will see a lot of dark smudges, like the burnt oil particles that are blown back into the cabin. I do agree they should at least wipe down the seat and tray table.
Dude, grow up! If that is the worst you have ever had, you ain't flown much. Oh wow, the flight tracker had the plane facing the wrong way? The internet worked, you had some options for entertainment, The toilet worked. What do you want? A crew to rebuild the aircraft between flights? What do people expect these days? We used to bring our own reading materials, unless you wanted to read the inflight magazines. You could have brought your own device with some movie or music loaded on it. Everyone wants lower cost flights, but complain when they don't get freebies. I have had way worse landings, but did not make some video about it. At least, they did not have to make an emergency landing because of some failure of a major component.
Boy! I’ve been on 30+ years old planes in better shape. Also sorry that, from watch this vid, didn’t seem that bad. There too seen/felt many more flight that landing so hard that bins would pop and some side panel would join them🤪. You have a lot more years to go so trust me, you will have much harder landing in store. 👍✌️🍻
JetBlue has definitely slipped over the years. Too bad. Like all of them, they were good at one time. Now, they're merging with Spirit?!?!?! God help us!

The PANYNJ needs to get its ass handed to them over this. They had already, years ago, lost a case over photography at the PA Bus terminal, and need to have their asses handed to them again over stuff like this (since the TWA terminal is a landmark, of course it's gonna bephotographed!) .
I will never fly with jet blue the jet blue people should be nice to the guests they could have flown with a different airline i would rather fly with United or American
I will say one thing though the airline should be ashamed of this type of presentation and yet they are retiring the plane but don't make it in a way that shows that you're trying to by making it look dirty unpresentable I mean like the guy said he pays good money and honestly if I was a boss of an airline I said okay I have a plane that's going to be retiring in say 3 or 4 years let me fix it up repair it maybe do some few updates here and there and just keep it clean until it retires and the other thing I don't like with these Airline is the retirement for the aircraft are laughable I say that because the amount of money they spent for these aircraft and yet the short retirement life they get is pretty insane.
Had this same experience on JetBlue recently. Originally was scheduled 2 a220 flights, 1 a320, and 1 e190. Naturally JetBlue changed my flights and I flew on 2 of the oldest e190’s. First flight the headphone jack was non functioning, second flight all of the screens were non functioning.
Random YT algorithm viewer here. IMO, JB has totally lost what made it special before. Now, it's "just another airline". There used to be a time when I'd board this young, vibrant, airline with quirks such as unusual snacks (still love the Terra chips when I find them) and crews that seemed to have genuine fun being onboard and that vibe absolutely transferred to us passengers. We all willingly helped in the general cleaning of our seats because we knew the previous passengers did for us (pay it forward concept before that was a thing). Now, I fly JB because I sorta have to and I feel miserable in most of those flights... :(
I just flew on a JetBlue E190. When our plane pulled up at the gate, my military spouse said “wow” and made a perplexed face. The exterior of the plane looked like it took heavy enemy fire in a war zone. It was also the most worn down disgusting cabin I’ve ever been on. The life vests were literally flying out from under the seats when we landed. We told flight crew when we deplaned and they said the under seat life vests go flying during every landing!
Oh man, not this coming week, but next week, I'm flying HPN-TPA (and then TPA-HPN), and wonder if I am gonna get one of the refreshed 320s, or one of the 10 remaining ones. 😂
I appreciate this review video. I am a pilot, retired, from United. I have seen things over the years. I DO sometimes buy tickets on other airlines, to build miles.
I enjoyed the Embrear 190 on Lot Airlines from Warsaw to London Heathrow. The seating was good. No inflight entertainment but, the seating was in good condition.

Went on one of the E190s last year, and it was definitely showing its age - especially the IFE having been on one of the A320s with the cabin retrofit the year before. I can't wait to see them replaced with the A220s, though I did like the 2x2 seating of the E90s the 2x3 is really nice depending on if traveling alone OR with one person, or with both my parents. Plus, with the E90s, I don't exactly like the window aignment (being an AV geek) and find that if I want to brace my arm up against the wall panel for stability, it's hard since the 190's wall paneling feels (to me at least) slick compared to the A320's.
11:59 - 12:04 Yes for movies IIRC. Had a few flights between 2014 - 2016 or so where they disabled it to give us movies for free to make up for delays. 😁 Still, getting movies on their refreshed A320s free was such a dramatic improvement when I first experienced the refreshed cabin like 2 years ago I think.
I flew on it from JFK - Orlando and it wasn't too bad I was sat in row 1 with some nice leg room is small size did freak me out as its smaller then other E190s I've flown on but the entertainment was class.
flying Jetblue gave you the "blues"........I wonder and ponder how will acquiring Spirit airlines help JetBlue???.....jet was not exactly in "mint" condition.....as more lines merge.....service takes a back seat......however in the long term such consolidation opens up opportunities for new entrants like Avelo and Breeze.....the airline industry seems forever in a state of flux.....

Agreed haha. And wow cool! Chicago and its suburbs always great
"I paid good money for this ticket" 😂😂😂😂😂 $133.22 would barely get you from Raleigh to Ohio in your car.
You didn’t sound or appear entitled in your post. I really appreciate the information. Thanks-
Yikes! That sure does not look like a good experience.
I personally would have flown Southwest nonstop RDU-MDW. Same 32 inch pitch assuming you get a 737-800 or Max.
I think those market share numbers you showed don’t include the delta connection fleet and its flights. Delta is right around 35%.
I love that little Embraer aircraft! I have taken it so many times from FLL to JAX every few months. The last two times it has been changed to A320.
Soooooo grotty!! 🤮
I used to be a T.W.A. Steward. Shake hands! This plane is awful. TWA for the best of America!
@@clausstimpfig3803For how long did you worked with TWA? It was a great airline by the way.
The landing didn't seem so terrible. Are you a pilot?
You don't need to be a pilot to say it felt a certain way, as it's obviously from the passenger's perspective (and even then, between passengers, experiences differ too!)
TWA..........i flew TWA from Minneapolis to then..idlewild airport...16 yrs old, first time flying.........lots of shake, rattle and roll when those big four engines started up and noisy too...but being my first time flying ...it was fantastic.....thanks for the TWA info....just subbed to...✈✈
Great video! I'm glad to see an honest review without any sugarcoating provided! I don't think I have ever experienced such a poor flight ever.
In the case of that jetblue A321neo thats parked my guess is its something to do with the PW GTF engine issues
The E190 is actually one of the youngest beside the A321. The oldest is the A320.... Get your facts straight!!
"Aw hellll naaawww"
"Flying dumpster"
"Worst flight of my 250 flights in my whole life"
lol😆😁😄
Had a similar experience with this aircraft but I didn’t care I just wanted to go home at that time
JetBlue has definitely slipped over the years. Too bad. Like all of them, they were good at one time. Now, they're merging with Spirit?!?!?! God help us!
11:00 good pepsi flavor. Good napkin flavor too. I'd be too full to eat a bag of chips though
You did not pay much for that ticket. Very low price, in fact. However, yes, that airplane was in the worst shape of any B6 jet I've been on.
They’re taking those airplanes out of service. But they should at least clean it lol 😂
Shame on you Jet Blue, probably a good thing the Spirit merger was blocked. No excuse to let your aircraft look that nasty, shame on you
No matter how little you pay, it's only fair to expect the basic bottom line decency in cleanliness and professionalism. No frills doesn't mean being disgusting guys
I once got screamed at by PANYNJ Jobsworth police for taking some exterior photos of the old TWA terminal back in 2004
The PANYNJ needs to get its ass handed to them over this. They had already, years ago, lost a case over photography at the PA Bus terminal, and need to have their asses handed to them again over stuff like this (since the TWA terminal is a landmark, of course it's gonna bephotographed!) .
I hope JetBlue will renovate their aircraft, and make a brighter future in its fleet.😊
I will never fly with jet blue the jet blue people should be nice to the guests they could have flown with a different airline i would rather fly with United or American
I actually flew on N2048J in December 2022. I wonder why it has been parked there for so long. Any idea?
The ARRIVAL time is NOT the LANDING time, it is arrival AT THE GATE.
I'll never go with Jet Blue. I bet they take mechanical repairs negligence.
N306JB is around 14 years old
The crew was probably just trying to shake some of the dirt loose!🤣
I remember when JetBlue was the elite airline. Now I consider it the worst..
As I watch, I can see that you're an aviation knowledgeable person. I'm retired. Pilot here.
My thoughts are that top guns are not flying that plane . I’d be nervous
Out with those 190s in with the A220s! Loved flying on the A220 on Delta going to New York.
I've flown delta's a220s three times and enjoyed them. I've flown JetBlue's JetBlue's a220 once and thought it was great.
The 220 is a much better airplane than the 190, by far.
They aren't as old as most of their A320ceo aircraft.
still WAY better than Frontier or Spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come to think of it, their downfall roughly began when they switched to Pepsi. Coincidence? Hahahaha
That sounds like something straight out of a movie 😬
Let’s see if you can get a flight on one of B6’s 10 remaining classic 150 seat A320s and compare it against the E190
Those have almost the exact same seats just in a 3-3 configuration. Would love to fly one for the experience.
I guess you fly cheap you get cheap.
That plane got beaten up since last time I wan on that plane
I enjoyed the Embrear 190 on Lot Airlines from Warsaw to London Heathrow. The seating was good. No inflight entertainment but, the seating was in good condition.
Good to hear. I've flown American's E190 in 2017 before they were retired in 2020. No entertainment either like most 190s but was a great flight too.
Seriously, though, dirty seats and poorly kept cabin and all, this plane is WAY better than any existing A220, because the E190 has WAY better engines, they're truly reliable, they haven't shut down in flight in a decade, unlike the P&W Geared TurboFailure on the A220.
I would have taken another airline.
E190 is not an ancient bird lol.
11:59 - 12:04 Yes for movies IIRC. Had a few flights between 2014 - 2016 or so where they disabled it to give us movies for free to make up for delays. 😁 Still, getting movies on their refreshed A320s free was such a dramatic improvement when I first experienced the refreshed cabin like 2 years ago I think.
you'll get far worse than that
Ok princess !
But the door didn’t fall off. 😂
I flew on it from JFK - Orlando and it wasn't too bad I was sat in row 1 with some nice leg room is small size did freak me out as its smaller then other E190s I've flown on but the entertainment was class.
About 5 or 6 years ago I went on JetBlue and there was sharpie all over the seats on the 2 A320s I flew on. Have no idea why
Flew on N267JB back in October and it was in good shape inside, or at least in my row. Sorry you had a bad experience.
hahahaa very entertaining.
flying Jetblue gave you the "blues"........I wonder and ponder how will acquiring Spirit airlines help JetBlue???.....jet was not exactly in "mint" condition.....as more lines merge.....service takes a back seat......however in the long term such consolidation opens up opportunities for new entrants like Avelo and Breeze.....the airline industry seems forever in a state of flux.....
When the interior is so poorly maintained, I wonder about the mechanical and electronic systems. The good thing about the 190 is no middle seats.
This reminds me of US air LMAO
Edit: the credit card machines were to buy merch im pretty sure. In the early 2000s merch and certain drinks were a big thing. AirTran used to have these fuse drinks they were so good! You had to buy them and could only use a credit card. This was before the iPhone so thats why they went with seats.
I mean, it all fairness the JetBlue, they’re getting a lot of the A220-300’s soon & those look amazing w/ the big engines!
They used to charge for looped movies, the DTV was still free.
You flew on my bd
2048 has been parked there for a while since we’re taking parts off of it and applying it to other 321 neos. It may be a while before it goes back into service.
That landing looked like the pilot didnt flare and instead nosed down to the runway..
Never flew on the small jet blue planes but used to fly very often from LGB to IAD to visit my mom before she died in2005. They were a pretty good airline then and I never had a problem with the aircraft or service. Never thought of them being a budget airline then.
Not even PIA would keep their seats that dirty, at least in my experience
And people dare to ask why I clean my seat before sitting on it!? People are disgusting.
I loved flying Jet Blue Brazilian E190 from MCO to CUN many years ago, they had three daily flight back then, two other flights were on the A 319/20...They were in great shape and the main reason was the 2-2 seating...and some how always landed 15 minutes earlier..It's very sad that Jet Blue will let them get in that condition.
Just flew two of them, from Boston to Fort Myers with a layover in DC, they were both definitely a bit dated but overall very clean and the flights were on time.
Those engines sound scary
Maybe the pilot used to work for Ryanair? Just Kidding.
Oh God. That plane needs to be significantly tidied up. Great review though.
Thanks JJ! It sure needs a deep clean.
lol I don’t blame you, I absolutely despise our 190s as a employee
Also? The TWA Hotel at JFK is on my bucket list.
I bet the landing was worse than Ryan air
