@joemadden4160 Yeah I saw her on Logans Run myself years ago. Decent actress. So did you write for film magazines? You mentioned Famous Monsters of Filmland.
I saw Piranha years ago as a youngster. It was then a n d is now a fairly well made B movie thanks largely to the talents of writer John Sayles and Director Joe Dante. Whats nice about this commentary here is how Tarantino gets specfically into editing and even speculates as to the budget of the movie. Personally, I viewed Piranha as a superior knockoff of Jaws that worked because 1) it chose a multiple threat instead of a singular one. 2) It had a trio of protagonists that were different personality wise 3) The woodsy pastoral environment creates a vastly different locale. Almost isolated
Love Piranha and the guy from invasion of the body snatchers; the best scene is when the guy gets his feet eaten and they take him out of the water and it’s skeleton bones 😭😭😂😂
“Cool like Hemingway” sounds like something my grandparents would say between griping about the Kaiser and mustard gas and bragging about repainting the Conestoga wagon their parents used to migrate to Minnesota. How old is Tarantino anyway?
What I loved was how the Pirahna were set up, when I watched the Pirahna 3d remake that came out it was beyond disappointing that they are just these ancient creatures hidden in some deep underwater chasm that get unleashed when an earthquake happens it’s so utterly lacking in creativity, in the original the fact that they are science experiments that were bred for biological warfare is such a unique take that feels like it really separates itself from Jaws.
jaws is not even remotely one of the best movies ever made.........................a pool of water and a mechanical shark???????? a movie like the perfect storm or cast away is a billion times better than jaws.......
Tarantino's knowledge of movies is absolutely encyclopaedic.
Just watch a lot of movies and you’ll learn a lot
@@Njbear7453 there's watching a lot of movies and then there's watching the amount of movies that Tarantino has watched haha
@@robbo03 he’s a walking movie dictionary lmao
Her name is Heather MENZIES.
Yeah.
Encyclopedic.
@@joemadden4160 calm down Joe.
I remember seeing this movie as a kid. I will never forget the experience.
It's Heather Menzies, not Mendez. Sbe was married to Robert Urich. I wrote a retrospective article about Piranha for Famous Monsters Of Filmland.
Thanks Greg👍🏼
Yeah I was surprised Tarantino mispronounced that name
Loved her on Logan's Run...and her pictorials...
I'm old.

I did have a letter published by them though.

I could listen to Tarantino talk about movies forever.
Awesome channel please continue the great work
Definitely in the top dozen or so animal attack movies i've seen. Really well done, especially for the budget
John Sayles wrote not one but two of the best Jaws knockoffs ever.
What was the other one??

Killerfish is the best of the genre
Great 70s fun, nice review.

Hehe..one can feel his overwhelming excitement. I agree, it's a genre masterpiece the more if you think of the production time and costs.
I wish Tarantino would make a few low budget movies like this. Forget about legacy, having epic scope. Just have some fun with it.
Joe Dante made great send ups to the b monster movies of his youth only with a kind of seventies edginess.
I totally disagree with Quentin. The way the piranhas get released into the river is THE BEST PART!
I had no idea piranha 3d was a remake of this movie lolll
How much espresso did Tarantino drink before this interview...lol.
Veteran Kevin McCarthy seen on the boat.

Jaws is better, I watch Piranha more❤

I concur
2:48 Ηow many agains is that?
The guy looks slightly like Jürgen Prochnow.
Hmm, haven't even heard of this one. I have to admit it's weird to hear Tarantino invoke Eiseinstein.
It's Burt Kreischer in that film =)
Every movie is the best for Q
Piranha is fun but Joe Dante’s masterpiece is The ‘Burbs 💯
quentins voice is so sexy!
Ayo??

Terminator 2 is the greatest movie ever made not jaws
Thats funny.
Jaws?

Jaws was shot in the ocean.
It sounds like you just went on the _Universal Studios Tour._ Jaws is a perfect movie.
"What on God's holy name are you blabbering about?!"
Okay, Zoomer.
I beg to disagree w those examples sighted. Jaws is far superior to your examples, in my opinion.
