Great video man we also got into some Nevada Sage Grouse got two just lost the other one was a big rooster congrats man. 🔥 it’s Great to get your hands on some grouse!
Great Job Dizzy! Jumpy sage grouse are pretty hard to get near. Love it Rob and congrats to your dad. Once you can hit quail every bird seems just a bit slower.
So cool! What a great video! Your Pops rocks! What an awesome Dude! So does Dizzy! So awesome he could get his first quail. I'm off to Spencer's neck of the woods next week. I had a rough go of it over Thanksgiving with the quail. In the area I was hunting, the birds had been shot at a bunch! They were on full alert! I saw massive 50+ bird coveys multiple times. If I got within 75 yards of them, most of the time, they would flush and head for higher ground. Without a dog, forget about it! TBH, my shooting wasn't the greatest, either. That's how hunting goes sometimes, though. I managed 1 Gambels in 2 days. They kicked my butt! We'll see how it goes down South! Good luck, and great hunting!
I took him out yesterday and it didn’t go well. He doesn’t like the gun. I need to work with him more with the pigeons. The channel likely won’t see him until next season.
@ one thing I was taught was to have someone a hundred yards away with the gun and start there they shoot a few rounds while you use training birds to mimic them shooting the bird then start to move closer as your pup gets more comfortable with the gun this may take awhile use only training shells I use Kent hope it helps
In my experience it’s just about getting him excited about birds. He did okay the first time I had him out with pigeons. But one shot did get his attention, so I had a feeling it would go like this. He needs to mature. He’s only 7 months old and I don’t need to rush him into action. He needs bird contacts without shooting and that’s not something I can or want to do in the thick of hunting season.
Dizzy is a rock star! I know this first hand! Congratulations on the firsts and hunting with dad is priceless. Thanks for sharing Rob!
Luv the hunting firsts. Good job Dizzy. Hunting with your father is so special.
Thanks, it is a real honor to share these moments with my Dad.
Your Dads quote THAT WAS SICK 😂👍👍
I might’ve had an influence on his vocabulary growing up.

It’s definitely tough to hunt birds that have been spooked!

I’m possibly moving to Idaho. What area would be centrally located for bird hunting?
