I have been following Mrs. Hayes for a few years now. I have come to realize, the Sherry K. Hayes method is best for me. I would have given up, if it weren't for you. Thank you for rescuing me from the overwhelm. 😁
Thank you soo very much for this message, Ms. Sherry!! I NEEDED to hear it. We use a mixture of things, but mostly Five In a Row and things you have created or inspired me to incorporate. We have been on Harold and The Purple Crayon for 2 almost three weeks… 😐 I was starting to worry about “wasting our time” but in looking over the last couple weeks I can see all the things we’ve touched on and I am actually amazed. One thing led to another and we’ve read The Crayon Man, “traveled” to Pennsylvania because that’s where the crayon factory is, learned geography of that state. Made our own crayons by melting broken ones into little heart shapes. We’ve had multiple great conversations about how God is the master creator and He’s given us the ability to create and notice beautiful things in His creation… I could go on and on, but too look back and think this time has been wasted, would be sad, because it was all wonderful. We will move onto the next book this week and cherish all of the memories made and things learned along the journey together, and we will give God thanks for all of it.
@@Dreblueskies there really are! And one thing just seamlessly leads to another. It’s great! We have 4 kiddos 16-4 and have used FIAR from the beginning, still using it with all of them in some way or another. It’s brought a lot of learning joy, that’s for sure 😊
Thank you so much for putting the time in to do these videos. You have helped me so much! I feel so free with homeschool. I wish I could give you way more. God bless you! From a mom of a 3, 5 and 7 year old who are currently outside playing in the trees. ❤ (We live in FL so it’s not that cold haha).
Sherry, every video you make speaks right to my heart for our homeschool and truly does set me free each time I watch one. I know that’s because you’re following the prompting of the Holy Spirit, so thank you for your faithful obedience and the inspiration you bring each time you share a video. ❤
This is such a wonderful way to learn. We have enjoyed it for years. I do it too. As I'm reading a book, I run across something interesting & researching it. This is how you make life long learners.
I almost didn't watch this video because I've been feeling guilty about not doing more when it comes to homeschooling, but the title was too good to skip over. :) I just want to share that I recently grabbed an old copy of "Terrible, Horrible Edie" by E.C. Spykman because it looked interesting. Every morning, I read it to my children while they eat breakfast (captive audience). I've come across numerous words I've never seen before, which gives me an excuse to crack open my old dictionaries and encyclopedias (though, that wasn't enough when I was trying to find out what a "troupial" is). Not only has this book made me laugh outloud, it has sparked conversations about police speed traps, my family's ties to Henry Ford, and ball lightning - and we're not even halfway through yet. Anyway, Sherry, I think it's been a few years now since I first found your blog, and hearing about your experiences with homeschooling your family has really helped me out. Thank you!

Linda, I remember you! Oh, thank you so much for your sweet words :)
I agree with you! Sherry is a guiding light in our home.

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! Yes, God is so good to allow us to have this much fun before heaven :)
I also use FIAR and sometimes feel the need to rush but there are so many good topics to explore. I bet your child is enjoying their learning journey.

Absolutely! I hope more mommies discover it!
