I was just thinking about trying to do this and cook 3 meals a day. She didn’t have to cook or clean 3 meals a day.😮. What did the cook’s schedule look like? They were the ones doing the 3 meals a day and cleaning.
I am thinking of titling the chores list by the job title, rather than the chore. I.e: maid, cook, gardener, chauffeur... so we have titles to identify as while we work? Then an accompanying dutues list. Or even if it's just all of my different jobs? Maybe it could instill some appreciation of how many roles we are trying to fill in a day!!
I love this ❤ Such good reminders from a beautiful woman. Carving time out for taking a break throughout the day is good. Being diligent and self-regimented is good. This self care.
It's amazing what one can do with this kind of intentional schedule. I, too, have tried her time table and was incredibly blessed by the delightful pockets of pleasure throughout my days. In my current season I am reading ten pages of a CM volume in the morning, poetry at breakfast and a classic in the afternoon. We also have elevenses which is new to our rhythms around here :) Elevenses is currently Fridays only but it may need to move to daily after listening to your convincing comment about cake ;) Also, as our children grow and leave it is with great hope that these habits will be in place.
Haha! Here in the Southern US States you can hear someone say “dinner” and mean lunch. I’ve said supper for my evening meals all my life. It seems so odd to hear someone say “dinner” for the evening meal. Cultural differences can be so fun. 😆 My mother refuses to say “lunch” for some reason. 🤷🏻♀️
I'm British and my husband and I are currently having a turf war over the name of the evening meal. I grew up calling it supper, he called it tea! Supper for him was a little snack before bed. But ultimately I call it dinner these days. But then we had 'dinner ladies' at school during lunch time so that always confuses me 😂 I hadn't realised that some people in the US call it supper too!
I am from the Upper Midwest. I've heard both dinner and supper for evening meal. In my experience, the ones who call it supper tend to be older, though MANY older people call it dinner.
This video was suggested for me and I am so glad I clicked on it! Thank you for sharing this. Unfortunately, I am unable to read the posted timetable in the video, is it shared elsewhere? Thank you!
I absolutely love this! Ithough i am not sure if its my aging eyes or what but the colors of timetable on the screen seem to make it very difficult to read

Yep. 9am start here, too! And no screens during the week unless it's educational (nature docu or something). Limited screens on weekends, none after dinner unless it's a Family Movie Night when my OTR trucker husband is home. Also, bedtime is 7pm and lights out is 8pm for the children, regardless of age.
@@katie7748 This is impressive. I worry that I've made this impossible to attain. I've slacked for so long so many times during pregnancy and prostpartum seasons. How many children do you have?
He works quite a bit, so I'm not sure he noticed our daily rhythm had changed in any major way! But no, I did this mainly by myself (which, of course, impacted the kids).
Oh, I don't think I said that! Who homeschools at 7:30 am?! Ha! I may have said getting up then is late for a homeschool mom...but certainly not starting the day. We start near 10/10:30 too!
I live in the American south so my out of doors time is in the morning before 11 and in the evening after 5 cuz in the middle of that we be boiling and I have an infant 😂 2:15-4 is like the hottest part of the day
I think some of the hurriedness is impacted by not having cooks or household servants. Perhaps we just need to adjust expectations for what we can accomplish in a day
It is very draining. I have been there too! Best tip I have is to go to bed as early as you can to help front-load the rest before your night efforts begin.
We all need cooks In our houses again, so much more we could accomplish!!! Lol
Imagine all I could do in a proper household! ;)

Hahaha, we might get some good tips if I can track down a cook's daily timetable from the 1890s!

Mason is full of wisdom at every turn!
Brothers Karamazov is my 10 minute classic right now. It's so helpful to have that "take a bite" mindset.
Perfect. There is so much to chew on in that book! I'm definitely due for a re-read.
You are so relatable and down to earth, yet also lovely and aspirational! You’re one of my fave TH-camrs!
Oh wow, thank you for the kind note!

Yes, yes, yes! "Pockets of pleasure" is the perfect phrasing and cake is a necessity and I hope this for my children too!
Love that you found a fun way to spend your off week 😁😁👏🏻👍🏻

Hahah, that is hilarious! I'm from NC (but big ol' Charlotte) and I didn't know anyone who said supper!

This was a fun listen. I am definitely taking a few tips from the Charlotte Mason rhythm.
Oh and the More Christmas interview was Great!
Ah, thank you! So glad you enjoyed it, Evren!

Yes, I added it to the description!
Sorry about that. In Canva, it was much easier to read than it looks in the video!

It's not you! The file didn't export at a high enough resolution! I added the timetable to the description box!
I'd love to hear you talk more about the Neo Classical Education view to have a better understanding of why Charolotte's Education model isn't that.

It was a fun one to make/do!
Loved this! Such a fun idea
It really was so fun to do. Highly recommend!
I also wonder how being married impacts evening timetable
Too funny! We don’t start our ‘school’ time until 8:30 or 9. And no screens after 8:30pm
Lovely!

Totally late side question. If you do a wax seal on the envelope, does it stay entact during shipping?? 😮
Totally does!
I love these ideas! Did your spouse join in with this schedule?

I have an *ancient* waverly novel that has been passed down in my family, but I’ve never read it. Perhaps it’s time.
Perhaps it is.
Lol I felt like a bum when you said homeschooling at 7:30 is late, I homeschool a 2nd grader and have a one year old, I start at 10:00-30 am 😅😂

100%. I joke constantly about how I need my governess, gardener, cook, and nursery maid to lead my Mason life!
I think it's pronounced Chumley.
Heard it on Brandy Vencel's podcast. 😊
IS IT?! Bless you.
She would definitely know. THANK YOU.@@Jer.616

Thank you! I will finally be able to talk about this book with other people.
😂 first 🎉
Janelle, this is becoming an actual skill.
I just can't help it, I get so excited!🎉
I have to listen to your videos on a slow playback speed. You speak too fast for my brain.
Sorry about that!
I'm ADD and have to do the same. Also can't read the posting of schedule (white on tan doesn't work for my old eyes. I'll keep trying tho).
