I love how they used the star sign, Ai's hand sign and the fan lightstick move in their choreography. They brought out some of the unique points of the anime. Absolutely gorgeous and phenomenal!

This performance is exactly why they should have won, constant movement, no wasted energy, every move is calculated, synchronization, there's something to look at any point in the dance, commitment to character, and above all ENERGY! Avantgardey truly is a one of a kind group! Every performance they did was perfect and captivating, blink and you'll miss it kind of routine!
Yeah, I'm still salty they didn't make top 5. The final results were a weird upset this year.

It's not the winning that matters now, they have been seen and will get booking all over the place, whereas the winner might get a contract, It's like what happens in the Eurovision song for Europe, winners don't always make it, were a song say that came in bottom picks up a contract and heads to the top of the charts
Ultimately, the AGT top spot is really just a singular accomplishment. What really matters in the long run is the exposure they got to international audiences thanks to the show AND the popular clips going around social media. That's what will translate to future work and revenue to keep their act going strong.

One interesting bit: according to an interview with the group choreographer Akane, at the very beginning 0:00 the group actually made a huge mistake. They were supposed to stand up at the same time and start walking forward together, but due to the sound level in the hall was too high, half of them missed the cue to start. The rear row stood up before the rest and panicked upon seeing the front girls not moving. Everyone thought they had made a catastrophic mistake and were barely able to pull themselves together to finish the rountine. After the performance. they were crying inconsolably in the back stage.
But, in the end it turned out that because they synced up so well even after missing the cue, it made it looked like they're doing a staggered start and no one was able to tell that they had made a mistake.
That is, to me, an incredible level of professionism from the girls at such a young age.
That little "glitch" in their head movements at 0:05 to match the intro music, more than makes up for any perceived error on their part. I thought that was just brilliant, and a perfect example of the Japanese attention to detail and how they can layer their artistic performances such that you can watch them 100 times and discover a new detail each time.
That must have been so awful for them but they absolutely pulled it together!! These women are top tier professionals
I had this nagging feeling they weren't performing at their best as a part time dancer myself. It's this minor difference in morale that seperates the perfect and the excellent. People tend to pull of spontaneous improvements in a state of serendipity which only happens if everything falls right at the start of an important event.

You absolutely wouldn’t notice it if it hadn’t been pointed out. Well done to them for compensating. It just looks like a planned staggered start. I love the synchronised twitch/glitch thing they do with their heads about 7 seconds in.
Every member is essential. No one is above another. Perfect timing and execution. Thats talent.
At 0:55 when nona (girl in the center) is doing a heart hand sign, if you freeze the frame, you could see at least 13 other girls doing a heart sign with their fingers, or forearms & hands, or arms over head. This is in sync with the lyrics "aishiteru" at that moment which means "I love you." It is so fast that you probably won't notice until you slow it down. That's some crazy details in the choreography!
They are so unique and so in sync… but they definitely deserve so much credit for how much strength and athleticism it takes to move like that and make it look smooth and effortless… these girls are athletes
Unlike other dance groups, Avantgardy's performances never get old, no matter how many times you watch them.

One of the most creative and addictive to watch dance groups to have been on this show
I've rewatched this several dozen times already. Their fast, sharp, high-precision moves and jumps that go virtually non-stop for 2 minutes really require both talent + athletic abilities in order to pull this off. It may look easy but actually hard to do, let alone 19 of them in unison. All the more reason why I have been rooting for them.
The fight that it was so many of them and some had different movements to keep everything flowing was great
Just Imagine all of them moving from one side of the stage to another. All of their steps should be of the same size and speed.
They are Japanese high school students and practice with a coach.
Sometimes we watch them on the Japanese TV show, they practice very hard.
And they won a first-place award in the high school dance contest almost every years.

@@petermachete5647 Murmuration dances with their hands which are just about their only focus. Avantgardey dances with their whole bodies which they have to synchronize as well as their relative position on the dance floor. Both are good but the level of demands is different.
@@eaux I agree. Watching the video Avantgardey made with all the finalists, they performed a little routine with Murmuration. Murmuration's routines would probably feel like the easiest thing in the world for the Avantgardey girls. Their levels of difficulty are worlds apart. Murmuration looks pretty cool, but it's just a bunch of people sitting moving their hands and arms coordinately. Avantgardey is just another level in terms of speed, positioning, transitioning into the next move and synchronization.
I don’t watch this show anymore like I used to so I just discovered this dance last night and I SERIOUSLY have not stopped replaying it since, along with the one on AvantGardey’s page. I agree with Simon, and they are not just great dancers but true performers with their movements and expressions they really give you a show.

For those who don't know, this song, Idol (Yaosobi), is the opening for the hit anime Oshi no Ko, a story about the dark sides of the Japanese entertainment industry. From stalkers, predatory producers/studios, cancel culture, suicide, and greedy entertainers/companies.
The song is song from the perspective of the Ai, a singer/dancer who has trouble understanding the concept of love. She puts on a mask to make her fans lover her, but struggles to express her true feelings. The section of the song that goes into a monotone rap is her expressing those dark thoughts leading into a section where she finally found true love from the twins she gave birth to.
Amazing story about the main character who manipulates his way through the rising ranks of the entertainment industry, all to seek vengeance on what he lost.

The lyrics are also heavily based on a short sidestory called “45510”, written by the original manga’s writer. Some of them are from Ai’s perspective, alluding to her hidden thoughts and her secret children, but other parts are from the perspective of 45510’s narrator, another girl in Ai’s idol group. “Right, right, we all know she’s very special, yes…”

I mean half of their moves where generic dances, you see Idol fans doing at idol concerts, while the song playing is called Idol, which was the opening song for a manga/anime about the highly dark and toxic side of idol/vtuber culture in japan this year. It was amazing in a ironic way to me. I'm sure on purpose.

チャ－ミングさが織り交ざっている。唯一無二の魅力。命を得た日本人形！
前回の演技も、もう300回以上は見ている！
人形達がこっそりパーティーして踊ってるかのようですよね。
そういわれると、確かな技術もさることながら、
新しいコンセプトというかコンテクストというか、
そういったものとそれを伝える力が（海外では）本当に大切ですね。
In the full show, there was an intro piece before this Act in which they talked about themselves and their goal, etc. I was really impressed that a lot of these girls have a regular daytime job and yet have the time & energy to practice at night and over weekends. That's true dedication! On top they are really talented. I hope they win.

I have a friend who is also a dancer and they go through tournaments (not yet at AGT level), but already have exposure in TV appearances. I got shocked that at day they have regular job like a whole day job and at night they dance non-stop. However, the salary is not really you know. Thats why at daytime they need to do normal job. Being a dancer is just like a compensation because the one you get for prizes will be divided depending on how many members within the group. Thats reality.

everytime they dance there's something in them i can't explain it feels like nostalgic, chills, happy, weird, scary all emotion.
The song itself is very complex. It brings a bunch of different elements and they nail it but infusing different styles and emotions. Which I believe confuses the audience. It’s not simple but the more you watch, the more you appreciate how much thought they put towards it

Another anime fan? if not should. Japanese, they are incredibly good story tellers. Some stories speak to your inner child. This group does that. I remember when I would do "crazy" movements. Its all on VHS tapes. These girls bring back that sense of silly happiness, we tend to lose over time.

Their choreographer akane on radio earlier tonight (JST): They were supposed to get up, face the camera and start walking at the exact same time but the venue was so loud that they missed the opening cue. The rear row started first and panicked when the girls in front of them were still facing down. The girl in the center front (seira) was the last to realize the act had started. The group thought they made a catastrophic mistake, were barely able to compose themselves to complete the routine, and were crying inconsolably backstage. Then, the youtube video aired, and whaddayaknow, it looks like the staggered start was planned from the outset, and nobody in the comments calls them out on their 'mistake'. "Waait, did we do alright after all!!?"
Brilliant mistake. Opening walking are perfect.
What a mistake that made the dance all the more epic. ♥ I would never have wanted it any other way. ☺

Honestly, the staggered start looked like part of the choreography. The way the back row started and progressed to the very front over like 0.5 sec while the step movement and head bobbing were all on-point and in-sync 👀
Their style is so distinctive and comedic, it certainly brings a smile to your face watching them. The way they walk on and off stage is so infectious, it deserves a golden buzzer right there!
I'm so glad they got saved with the wild card! They shouldn't have been eliminated to begin with! I actually love Howie now for nominating them for the wild card!❤❤❤

most talents of this season of AGT are typical, choir, singing, magic, interpretative dance, balancing acts.. we already seen them before.. BUT AVANTGARDEY IS NEW, UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT, THEY'RE LIKE JAPANESE DOLLS THAT ARE POSSESED THEN DANCES.. THEY'RE COMEDIC AND SCARY TO THE POINT THAT YOU LOVE THEM AND WANTING FOR MORE. I after seeing their official performance of this that they uploaded today. I'm now mad at AGT for not using the correct camera angles. 😂
At 1:15, they were splitting into 4 groups doing different sub-routines but the stupid camera wasted 2 seconds on the judges and we got lost. By the time the camera went back in, it zoomed straight into the center which looked chaotic because of the 4 different routines. This probably confused the heck out of the audience at home and lost them a lot of votes 😦 Now look at how clean it is in the official performance.
I love this dance group from their first performance, they are so incredible.

I woke up early just to find out the result. I was really disappointed that they initially did not make it. But after find out that they made it into the finals as the wild card, i literally cheered out loud. I really love this performance that i literally watched it 20 times today already ❤ Edit 2: I am really bummed that they didn't win, but I wish them the very best! You have won our hearts!!
How they made to the final where is the quater the semi or that stuff they do to get celebrities to get golden buzzer from them
Even if they are played repeatedly, their performances never get bored
@@kitogg7292 that part has been removed. Which means, after the auditions, they go straight to semi finals. Then finals. Next week is the end of agt 2023.

Ayy can't believe that they actually used Idol by Yoasobi for their BGM. Really cool that they incorporated the Wotagei in their dance routine too it's very on brand with the song.
akaneさんのラジオ聞いた後、何度も見直しました。アバンギャルディに対する声援が凄すぎて入りの音がメンバーに聞こえてなくて最初はみんな一斉に立ち上がるはずだったそうでakaneさんが客席から見たらバラバラで大失敗だったそうです…メンバーもパフォーマンス後は失敗した事で泣いていたそうです…が！がです！3分後にTH-camに上がっていた動画がバラバラに立ち上がってるのにナイスなタイミングで後ろから順にって感じで全く違和感も無く完璧のように見えて奇跡が起きたと言ってましたよね。メンバーが大失敗してもいつも通りの気持ちを最後まで貫いた結果だと思いました！やっぱりアバンギャルディは凄いわ！これから応援していきます！
そんな裏話があったんですね。動画を見ているだけでは神がかり的なスタートでしたね。すべてを味方につけて最高のパフォーマンスとなりましたね。本当に本当に素晴らしかったです。

I've been following avant-garde for a year and have thoroughly enjoyed there dancing antic performances. There are not enough adjectives to describe accurately what they do. I got chills when watching them on last night's AGT. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. A HEART FOR EACH OF THEM.
