Great review! I am buying this product purely based on your review. Thank you… I recently migrated…living in a cold country and my skin is punishing me for it. I have switch to over 7 products in the last four months that claim to have amazing effects on dry skin… they made the dryness worst. Seemingly worked at initial use, but then u need to keep apply more and more to maintain the moisture/ hydration… waste of money.

Hello! Both are good products, but Olay Retinol is intensive treatment so it’s more expensive. Advanced Clinicals is more of supplementary, plus the fact that it’s bigger and can be used for the neck and body.

What cleanser and moisturizer would you recommend when using this on the face? 😊
If you are using retinol at night time, you have to use a gentler cleanser. Retinol has a tendency to irritate skin as it promotes faster skin renewal, however, many brands in the market have mild formulations like this brand.

3:35 No. Retinol does not make Humans more photosensitive. Sunscreen application is beneficial in tendem with the product, but there is no scientific consensus that it makes you more photosensitive. Retinol just isn't as photostable as Adapalene.

In my experience, no. The product is very gentle. But if you have another moisturizer, or you feel you want some, you may. The product is gentle.

There are many forms of retinol products nowadays. I have not tried to encapsulated one. All I know is that one must be extra careful in choosing a retinol brand because the ingredients itself can potentially irritate the skin.

That’s the reason sunscreen is very important when on retinol.
@@frankalbertyap9132 so I probably shouldn't use it on my face. Because honestly I got my face shaving routine pretty down after suffering from ingrown hairs and irritation. Seems like thinning the skin would just make my face more likely to get irritated from shaving.

I think given the right amount, certain chemicals are needed to be used. Triethanolamine is a balancer of acid. It’s widely used - even in WebMD, it’s thought to be okay at a certain level only.
There are many ingredients that have been butchered by wrong marketing strategies like parabens. Many dermatologist-recommended products, and even those ones exclusively manufactured by doctors, have it. Cetaphil uses it. In fact, parabens are very safe preservatives - but they made it appear bad to promote organic substances. Yes, there can be natural products but it doesn’t necessarily mean those aforesaid ingredients are harmful.
