    Great job, that will help a lot I think most of the view problems end when instruments can pop up like FSX

    Thank for that hint. Very helpful. Now I use my powerful gaming NB screen for instruments and behind is a 24 inch monitor , on a kitchen pot, for window view.

    I would prefer to make the lower monitor fixed on the instruments and the upper one move independently.

    Thanks for the quick video! Question---if you do use air manager---what app do you use to have air manager on the smaller touch screen? Or to move the G1000 pop out window onto the smaller touch screen where you can even use the knobster?

    Why Xplane doesn't have the option of 2D instrument panel like FSX for example and put it on a separate monitor, also a panoramic view where you can use headtracking to simply view the outside only but with head movement. that will be nice for xplane

      I agree with you, that would solve the whole problem. I use the free space desk app for GPS and wish 6packs can pop up !

    Michael... thanks for the explanation. The Visual Offsets is key. They are a bit misnamed, IMO. When looking straight at a monitor, + or -, Pan, Pitch, and Roll, helps me remember better. PPR. Maybe someday LR will allow Zoom, Translate, and right mouse button independently for each monitor without changing FOV. Put it on the wishlist! LOL

    I have a few payware aircrafts the airfoil king air 350 most air manager instruments don't work well but things like Airspeed and altitude work also the autopilot works too this aircraft has so many pop out 2d panels you can mix and match with Air manager and I don't noticed a FPS drop,the other aircraft the flybe dash q 400 the Air manager default seems to work very well it looks this aircraft is pretty much wired like the default planes.

    Have you tried the 24" inch touchscreen by planar? It's more wide and I think it would be better than the 22"?

    Cool and pritty easy, but in my case I‘m using a Headtracker, is it possible to set the second screen on a static view to have the Main panel always on while looking around? On DCS Im using Helios atm I wount spend the money for AirManager maybe if X-Plane will become my Main Sim or for half the price.

    Hi Michael, thank you for this video, I am using a touchscreen as my second monitor In windows display the monitors are correct formation (Larger monitor on top smaller monitor below). But in the Xplane settings they are still side by side?, also how do we use a touch screen for touching buttons eg: in the mcdu? I'm flying the toliss a321 (Xplane 12)

    I just can not find a way to use both of my monitors, both dells. I have a 32" curved as the main and a 27" that sit next to each other. I want the flying part on the main and cockpit view on the 27". I am not buying (so far) air manager as it costs $100. My computer is xps 8930 i9 and have Nvidia geforce gtx 1080 8gb and have tried to configure surround and other things. I'm about to give up on this flight sims as I can't keep switching views, which takes your view off the runway which is kinda like texting while driving. I have xplane 11 and flight gear. Would one of the MS Flight games be eaiser to set up? Thanks

    Hi Micheal I was wondering if you could do a video on XPlane loading times between standard ssd drives and NVMe m.2 drives. Not sure if it’s worth the upgrade.

      I have had both. NVME m.2 is significantly faster. IMO is worth the upgrade. Go to best buy and have tech boot windows on both types of drives. Windows boots, for me, in about 5 seconds with NVME m.2 I have a Corsair i160 i9 nvme 2080ti 32m. 3 monitors Dell QHD 27" running in HD in X-Plane. Getting about 100-130 fps with 11.5 beta 3. This FPS is with settings at 3/4-Full in X-Plane. FPS is a relative thing depending on scenery etc. Same settings in 11.41 were 60-80 FPS. Stutters have minimized significantly. Stutters are like an old vinyl record with a scratch in it. Annoying! Vulcan is a huge improvement! No Dream Engine sound yet. Hope that Dreamfoil doesn't take too long. I have 3 trainers that I can't use in Vulcan.

    Michael... Here is a way to make a million bucks. Create a 12"x4" device with 8 twisty knobs, 8 pushbuttons, and 8 toggle switches (whatever). No digital display is needed as I can see what I am "twisting" onscreen... For RW pilots I already know where things are located. I am not a big fan of VR, but If designed properly, perhaps each button/knob has a different shape, this has a VR application by touch only, similar to Yoke, throttle, rudder pedals, which I don't need to see to use in VR. ......and finally, for me only..

    • @wbharris1031
      @wbharris1031 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be cool if the buttons and knobs had touch sensors. That way you can touch a button before you press it and see that button highlighted in VR.

    I would really enjoy a video speaking to the current state of simulation with multiple monitors, and when I say that let me preface that with I don't mean an absurdly large or long resolution stretched across side by side monitors, I mean multiple monitors showing completely different scenes, angles, views, requiring the video processing to be rendering completely different aspects of a game/simulator. For example say you are in an airplanes cockpit, and you might have a monitor in front of you, one behind you, one above you etc. Does the current state of game development in almost 2020 now, allow for any kind of multi socketed, multi core, multi gpu server based render farm approach to experiencing that kind of simulation exist. What would need to change with the current state of the union to emulate what you might find in a multi million dollar simulator. I get the sneaking suspicion that with the way things are, there is NO AMOUNT of hardware you can throw at the problem and come up with an adequate solution. Is there some way to utilize many, many computers, all taking part in the same simulation to achieve an acceptable result, almost like a distributed computing, or a dedicated server/client approach that would allow multi machines to reduce the strain and workload of a multi monitor approach to a full cockpit simulator? Also, I really enjoy your videos, thank you for making them.

    • @benjwgarner
      @benjwgarner 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      X-Plane already supports this! One computer is used for the simulation itself, and other computers can be connected via the network to render the visuals. The master computer simulates everything, and the simulation state is streamed to the others to generate visuals (make sure they're set to 'Independent View').

      Even on a single computer, different monitors can be set to display different views.

    Hi Michael, question I've been searching the internet for months without a good explanation, hoping you can help...why does popping out the instruments to a second and/or third monitor kill the fps so dramatically, in both XP11 and MSFS2020? Is there a way to overcome this? Going from +60 fps to -30 fps as soon as I pop the instruments out....any guidance and advice to save some fps' when doing pop outs will be highly appreciated.

      I am flight instructor. I like VR, but how do you train someone in VR? VR seems like a "home alone" experience. Also VR training videos posted to youtube are too hard to watch. Too much head movement. I am not knocking VR. It is very cool and has its' place. For X-Plane VFR immersion, DCS world or games it is the holy grail, but for real world flight training, or for youtube flight training...hmm not so sure. I am often "coaching" over someone's shoulder, pointing at an instrument, explaining functions, looking at 3 monitors. How do I do this in VR? How do I write down a clearance in VR when I fly on pilotedge.net? Trying to fly IMC and twisting knobs with hand controllers was very awkward for me also. Too many annoying misfires AKA double twisting. Just a few things to mention before people go out and buy VR for $1k thinking it is the holy grail. No offense. Maybe you can give me some pointers. I doubt if "Dual" VR headsets are the answer. FPS could drop to 10.
      Here is an exercise so you know what I mean: If you have kids or want to train a friend put them in VR hood and try training them. Even with you watching a second monitor, following their head movement will give you vertigo. OK turn on the beacon, friend, instead of pointing to switch you have to say, it is the second from leftmost switch, down over their next to the etc etc. I hope people get my point as regards to training.

      @@DownTheRabbit-Hole I'm a pilot IRL and fly virtually as well. how often are you coaching over their shoulder though? That would be a first few times scenario where you're explaining a new concept but to practice that concept you wouldn't be over their shoulder on every attempt or at least I would think not. Eventually they need to do it on their own without physical guidance but oversight which can be done from the instructor station and a debrief of the attempt done after. You may not teach the entire thing in VR but to immerse the student in to the environment they will be in IRL to practice the concepts they just learned, is an unparalleled option. Think of it as a tool instead of the only option to train.
