The ab mat is not because the lower back etc is weak, it's to force your abs into full extension for a full range of motion. Try doing some ab mat situps and compare them to regular and you'll see what I mean. It helps to flare your knees out and tuck your heels in a little (like frog legs) to eliminate use of your hip abductors in the situp 👊 Nice gym 👍
You got a reverse hyper extensions, but I consider replacing this machine with merely several ankleweights linked to a big heavy duty pair of boots permanently, cause they are very stiff I think they can take the pressure without grinding into the ankles and then simply hanging under a kind of table. Do you think that will work or have you heard of similar type of training done like this?

I know a lot of people who have got creative and figured out a DIY solution to the reserve hyper. I say go for it!
