- This is my review of the Sangean HDR-14 HD/FM/AM Portable Radio. I bought it at Amazon for $71.55 plus tax. Here are the links to the radio band scans that I performed prior to this review.

A vary fair and thorough review. Great job!
Thank you David.
Great review as usual Michael, it’s practically a no brainer at this point that you’ll post a good review. I love this radio, got it a few months ago refurbished. So many options in the menu. A couple things I think they should add is a Reset Hole like the Radiwow R-108, an actual dial that has 1 KHz steppingstones on AM.
Thank you Luke. A reset button would be a good idea. On the AM, it can be set in 9 KHz steps (522-1620, 522-1629 & 522-1710) or 10 KHz (520-1710) but not in 1 KHz. That would be nice though.
Awesome video Mike I agree with you on the radio the more I use it the more I like it I've had it a couple weeks now I would recommend it to anybody thanks for your great videos
Thank you Jim. So far this radio has been great. I am curious to see how it will do when tropo and e-skip return next spring and summer. As always, thank you for watching and have a good weekend.
I just ordered a hour ago the HDR-16 on Amazon for 99.99 can't wait to try that one out nice review
Thank you Eddie.
Very good information on this radio and good demonstration. All the other you tube reviews didn't really demonstrate the clarity of this radio. I had the insignia brand before this and got ripped off cause it cost me $100 and lasted less than a year. The sound kept getting weaker and weaker until it was just static. Don't know if I should get a warrantee on Amazon. Was going to get it refurbished but that's only a 3 month warranty And I don't know if it will have a plug.
Thank you Fred. I had two versions of the Insignia tabletop HD radio. Some of the buttons stopped working properly on the first one. Segments of the antenna came off on the second one. I no longer have either of them. As for the Sangean HDR-14, it doesn't hurt to have a warranty from Amazon just for the extra coverage.
@@tvradio1972 yeah I have a insignia hd radio and the buttons aren't working as good as I thought so would love to get a new hd radio
PERFECT FOR WORLDWIDE USE.
Funny how I'm watching this review with a HDR-14 next to me.
I didn't know you can set the stand in any 360 degree form.
Yes, you can set the stand they other way. I learned that from another video that I saw. Thank you for watching and have a good weekend.
My stand broke.
@@MNDXer1057 Uh oh! How did it happen?
It somehow just loosened , and then broke.
@@MNDXer1057 That's a bummer. At least the radio has it's own legs to stand the radio on it's own, but the stand keeps it falling over.
Oww, I also want to buy this one, but with the European digital Standard DAB+
It is called Sangean DPR-65, identical to the one in this video, but in this video it is HD Radio
The DAB+ version looks nice. Thank you for watching and have a good weekend.
BUY THAT HD RADIO OF SANGEAN HDR-14. IT ALSO HAVE 9 KHZ STEP FOR AM INCLUDING EXPANDED BAND UP TO 1701 kHz, also Japanese FM Band 76.0 - 108.0 MHz.
I set to Japanese FM band region D, then 9 kHz AM expanded band region A
@@tvradio1972 THAT HDR-14 also have Japanese FM band and 9 kHz AM tuning step.
I heard the HDR-14 is a good HD radio, and I've been considering it for sometime. Thanks for the overview!
By the way, have you recieved any European shortwave tonight?
KBC is still on the air for 25 more minutes. 5960 KHz
@@st.louisdxer9616 Thank you! So that must have been what I heard earlier. After those 25 min, are they on a different frequency? Also, are they only on certain days?
Since Shortwave is very expensive to broadcast on and there isn’t a large number of listeners the only broadcast in North America on Saturday Nights 6-8PM central. In the summer months they move frequencies.
@@st.louisdxer9616 Thanks. I'll definitely keep an eye out.
You're welcome ZG. I'm glad you liked the review. I listened to some of the Mighty KBC broadcast earlier tonight. By the way, KBC is on Saturdays 7-9pm Eastern, 5-7pm Mountain. During daylight savings time, it airs one hour later because UTC time never changes.

I think Todd has rubbed off on him 😂
Hey Mike great review
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the review. Have a good weekend.
Ain’t nobody perfect. It powers by 5V yet not via USB. Rechargeable batteries cannot be charged in the radio 🙄
It would be nice if the batteries could be rechargeable in the radio. I guess that's not how Sangean made these HD radios.
@@tvradio1972 The DAB version does recharge its batteries. It has a Green power button. The light says Low Batt/Recharge
But you can use rechargable batteries in the unit. A simple fix.
It's better than nothing.
Do you recommend this over the insignia hd radio
Yes. I would take the Sangean over the Insignia any day.
@@tvradio1972 thanks for the recommendation that will be the radio I buy next
@@tvamandfmvideosliny5277 Good to hear. I like this radio for HD broadcasts.
Have cquam AM Stereo hdr 14
No C-Quam AM stereo, but you can listen to HD digital audio if a station provides it such as 1010 WINS from New York City.
