That’s how you can help us build a brand so that we can continue to expand our coverage and address even more social issues. The truth is, we can't even monetize this video because of TH-cam's community guideline, which provides we can't talk about domestic abuse or violence in detail. However, we felt that it was more important to raise awareness about this issue by showing you what happened to Moon Jung in detail. Thank you so much for covering this Asian Boss. I admire Miss Moon Jung's courage, and my family and I will donate. Single Mother's are Queens and deserve the utmost respect.
Edit: It's so disheartening to know that single mother's are discriminated against. They have sacrificed so much to raise their children.

@@thatstuff3288 I'm sorry if my comment came across that way. What I wanted to convey was that a woman who does the job of both parents should not be discriminated against as Moon Jung has. Rather they deserve our respect and help. They are acting as both parents, and I wanted to acknowledge their strength. She is a Queen in that regard. Also, I agree with you, it shouldn't be glorified. Children need both parents, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Most single moms aren't doing it by choice. From this case, for example, she left because of an abusive partner. She left to protect herself and by extension her child. Attacking the victim shouldn't even be considered in this context. She shouldn't have to face discrimination because of circumstances she has no control over. And empathy is all anybody needs to see past this prejudice against single moms like her.

Honestly I have to give props to Asian Boss. It couldn’t have been easy finding a single mom to contact and willing to be interviewed publicly. What non-Koreans won’t comprehend is that single moms ( or teen moms) are treated like pariahs. Not only do they face societal prejudice and degradation but even their parents face scrutiny for raising a daughter with a child out of wedlock (bad parenting, etc). On the scale of societal shame that they face, it’s the absolute worst - it’s actually exponentially worse than an affair.

    • @UnicornsPoopRainbows
      @UnicornsPoopRainbows 4 ปีที่แล้ว +250

Affairs are totally normal in Korea, too. You would get more judgment for divorcing a cheating spouse than cheating yourself. I know of many couples who are divorced in every way except on paper.
She really doesn't seem like she has any pride left, everything is for her son. She has no where to turn and maybe, just maybe, she can raise awareness of the issues and make a better life for her son. I hope she can.
I get shade from my daughter's teacher because her mother (me) is not Korean. She is bilingual and a bit slow in language (totally normal). I get told at least twice a week to work on her Korean, most of what I say is Korean but she picks up English words more easily 🤷‍♀️ She is 2! I can only imagine the comments this poor mom gets.

As a foreigner mom in Korea, I think we also have responsibility to teach English to our kids properly, cause when they're getting older, somehow the community is more appreciating/welcoming a mix-married kid who's able to speak English properly/fluently.. IMHO

I think it's in most cultures like that outside of the western culture
If you have baby before marriage in most most African countries
You will either get kicked out by your parents or in most cases
You will be seen as the shame of the family and everyone in your neigherberhood would know and Condamn you for that
In the middle east its a bit harder
You will be in the best case scenario shut down by all your family members or stay with your abuser or in the worst case end up death
In Europe you would get support from you family and you will be okay
There will always be man who wants to furfill that role as a father

@TheTechie Lucky to live in Norway? Maybe the difference between Norway and Sweden is huge, but in Sweden there are so many depressed people. During late fall, early spring and winter we never get to see the sun. People here are very lonely and you will be get judged if you are trying to talk to someone. If you cry in public people will just watching you with judgemental eyes. The family bond is usually not good in many families (of course there are some good ones, but there are a lot of neglect in many). Old people are put in homes where no family visits them and when becoming young adult, many barely speak to their family.
Most people i know in Sweden wants to move away from here, and many wants to move to Korea (some has already moved to Korea, Japan and other European countries and they are happy that they did).
But maybe Norway is better of than Sweden. The only thing that makes Sweden good in my opinion is the clean water and that the government takes human right seriously, and most people are pro gay marriages, abortions, etc. The vegan society and environmental movement are also pretty big which is nice, but otherwise it's a pretty depressive country to live in, and that is no wonder with the lack of D-vitamin. I would honestly rather live in Korea if they had more vegetarian food and if my fiancé didn't have a job that required him to live in Sweden.
I know you are trying to be positive, but if he didn't want to live in Norway, I would be weird to hear "you already made it". Asians faces a lot of discrimination and racism (in least in Sweden), and that might be something that makes the living experience worse in these countries.

    • @dr.absurd

@Mas2 Salleh I'm not really saying that South Korea is great. I'm saying that he doesn't have to be thankful for living in Norway unless he really likes it there. Everyone is different in different situations. Some would prefer Norway, some would prefer South Korea. I'm mainly giving general reasons to why someone might not like to live in Norway, because I really don't enjoy Sweden.
Is Thailand that great? I thought it was like the Philippines, and my experience in the Philippines is just as bad as in Sweden, but they have different pros and cons.

    • @dr.absurd
      @dr.absurd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

s H Here’s what you need to know. For some people, they can be with someone sweet at first and later on, the bf/gf/husband/wife could start showing their abusive side as they become more comfortable. By that point, it’s attachment to the bf/gf/husband/wife and there’s also the victim who believes that their loved one will change. You can’t see who’s abusive on the outside and they can also act to hide that they abuse their partners. It’s hard to leave an abusive relationship because of the emotional connection the couple has/maybe they grew up like so and don’t know the difference of what’s normal/what’s not normal.

@@lalluqa6036 Even physical abusers tend to be _extremely_ successful manipulators. If you're young, inexperienced, dependent, and lack an alternative support system, it's a recipe for disaster. Plus, it was that first date which got her pregnant so even if she wanted to leave him after several weeks, as soon as she found out that would be like a bombshell. I'm sure she felt an overwhelming obligation at that point to try and stay together for the sake of their child, coming up with all kinds of excuses and rationalizations and failed strategies around his behavior because she was just so desperate to make it work.
Also factor in that education about abuse is not as widespread in a society like Korea because talking about it, sometimes even acknowledging it, is still quite taboo. Rather than be believed, supported, and offered any actual potential resources for escaping their situation, it's more likely that the victims will just be judged harshly and unfairly, treated dismissively by those around them, or perhaps even ostracized.
Divorce, pregnancy outside of marriage, and single parent households are fairly common now in places like the US but still extremely rare in places like Korea. In situations of domestic violence or psychological torment, it's basically having to make a choice whether to keep being abused in your relationship or to start facing a different sort of abuse from your other family, your community, and society at large.
Rather than just relying on your perspective as a woman, tragic stories like this can be understood by looking at them and those telling them first and foremost as a human being within a deeply flawed world.

This is one of your videos that strike my heart..
    1. For being single mother and 2. For having a child that has autism spectrum disorder..
It is really hard to be single parent and gets even harder when your child have disability..
I just got lucky that my family migrated to Canada before I give birth, the father of my daughter just stop communucating with me after I gave birth.. And 8 years after he still haven't seen his child..
I am fortunate to have my family (specially my Mother) to help me watch for my daughter, I work full time and provide for them my Mom stays with my daughter pretty much 24/7..
The support from the government also helps a loooot!.. My daughter has allowance every month and we have an amazing social worker to help me out find therapy, activities and even financial support for my daughter..
Don't give up Miss Kang Moon Jung and continue fighting for your son!.. everything will be worth it in the end!..
Bless all the staff of Asian Boss for helping out Miss Moon financially and sharing her story to the world..

Except from me I have also 4 brothers and one of them have also autism. My mom grew up in the orphanage so there were nobody to help us. I remember things were tough, I cried a lot because she was always working and that wasn't enough. We have to give up a lot of stuffs.
