Love this video! Cards that represent their characters/events are super cool, glad to see them covered. I'm a big fan of using Soul Pocus; thematically it is as fitting as you covered it, and it's so fun to keep the opponent hitting with that choice, especially if it's a yellow deck too. :p
I know right! They nailed it big thematically AND make it good competitively. That's when you know its good card design. Thank you so much for watching :)
You should do a part 2,there are a lot of more leaders with references like, foxy freezing you if if crew is with him, belo betty giving +3000 3 characters like her fruit, vivi who cant attack but gives rush to your characters, shanks SR doing ko everyting, bonney resting characters (fruit too) Kuma sending to the bottom, there are a lot of examples, even some cares of "random characters"
I think my favorite lore-accurate card (much to his detriment) is Red-Black Garp leader. It’s based on Garp during Marineford where he was conflicted with his love for Ace & Luffy (both predominately red cards at the time), but also his duties with the Marines (represented by black). Despite the lack of synergy between red and black, Garp’s effect leans more into benefiting black and its cost-removal effects, much like how he sided more keeping his reputation of being the “hero of the marines”. Also being at 4 life for being dual-colored shows how the inner conflict he had prevents him from demonstrating his full strength.
This is a really smart analysis that I never thought of before, I really like this!! I always loved that leader card, especially how the alt art looks, and with this theory it makes the crying hit that much harder!
Ace isn't particularly well represented by it mechanically (aside from being Red), but there are several Luffy cards that are prominent in the deck because of their synergy with attaching Don.
@@DNeonLamp Yeah, I believe the internal conflict Garp had at Marineford was represented via the colors. The effect on the other hand is more Navy based, reflecting how Garp’s actions were more upholding the Navy’s justice during the war. You can also say the action having some small synergy with Luffy/Strawhats at the time was a reflection of how Garp couldn’t bring himself to punch Luffy in the war, which was a slip that Sengoku spotted.
The other thing I want to point out about Buggy that they've absolutely nailed: except for the East Blue one you pointed out which represents him as a greater threat within that arc, every Buggy card is a 1 cost. Until the new set with him as an Emperor, in which he's a 10c who HIDES BACK IN YOUR DECK unless the rest of your board is filled with strong characters.
Great video! Unpopular opinion but one of my favorite lore accurate cards is the Nami Leader. (Still has the Arlong tattoo in the alt art so it's pre Strawhat) Pirate that steals from pirates being made into an alt win con. Also you navigate through the deck instead of swinging at opponent leader/board.
Thank you so much! Yeah I wanted to talk about the Nami leader but I didnt have the time! It is super on-theme for Nami for sure, shows off her cleverness :)
I always thought the purple luffy leader taking a life card to ramp represented luffy not caring about long term effects of recovering/powerups. Case and point when ivankov helped out luffy in impel despite the warning that the treatment will lower his lifespan
Here are really good lore accurate cards- Iceburg leader playing out galley la cards like he is calling his workers, black blueno being able to bring out a cp character like he is going through his air door ability, and 03 leader lucci being able to multi attack because of how strong lucci was at the time in terms of OP villains
Gecko Moria brings characters back from trash like zombies from the grave. Charlotte Pudding makes u shuffle your hand like how she can edit your memories. Vinsmoke Judge can bring out his children for free.
My favorite little piece of lore is the 8 cost Rosinante effect, where you can put a 5 cost green character into play and you can put Trafalgar Law into play, which is such a nice little subtle lore reference
I still want a Buggy blocker that can't be ko'ed by slash characters. As for lore accurate cards, in English I like Green 9 drop Zoro. He gets three attacks, one of each of his swords. In Japan, I love Leader Blackbeard. The killing of on play abilities is just a great way to show off how he turns off Devil Fruit.
Heres some I was thinking about Gravity blade bottom decking is accurate, gravity pushes you down to the bottom. Enel leader healing ability like how he restarted his heart Nami leader mill win victory - she stalls as long as she can until the strawhats can come save the day Blackbeard leader + 10 drop teach for obvious reasons, negating devilfruit abilities is very on-theme for his devilfruit
i have no idea about the TCG, but the artworks looks sick, and these little references are hella dope
might get into it when it gets a digital release
There's a fan made simulator that you should download by Maebatsu!! Its amazing
MAN'S MULTI-FACETED. Great video!
Yoooo I really appreciate it, I wanted to mix things up!!

There is a TON of material for sure, the tricky part will be choosing the best ones!!

ITS SO GENIUS they executed Buggy perfectly in card form basically every time! I love that concept so much with his new 10c
You know, I ain't even notice that last part of buggys effect. Really damn clever
Great video!

Always happy to see your content pop up on my feed, can't wait to see the growth of this and the TCG!
I really appreciate that! I hope that this card game continues on successfully for years to come :)

I agree!! That's how I interpreted it as well

Youre an expect of the Water7 cards hehe
Gecko Moria brings characters back from trash like zombies from the grave. Charlotte Pudding makes u shuffle your hand like how she can edit your memories. Vinsmoke Judge can bring out his children for free.
Vro the Charlotte Pudding one is genius I didnt even think about that. I def like the others ones too, they were already on my list for part 2 :)
Bro got fed up with skits
I want to funny AND informative ;)
My favorite little piece of lore is the 8 cost Rosinante effect, where you can put a 5 cost green character into play and you can put Trafalgar Law into play, which is such a nice little subtle lore reference
Yeaaah I didn’t even have room in this list to bring up how great Rosinante’s card are lore-wise! That’s a great pick
+ the 2 Cost rosinante that sacrifices himself
I still want a Buggy blocker that can't be ko'ed by slash characters.

Those are definitely good examples! I had 9c Zoro in my brainstorming list :) Also yes that would be a really good blocker ability ngl
Also the same thing with oden SR,being the same card than zoro but atacking 2 times (nitoryu) and when he dies playing a akayaza 9 from trash
Bro thanks for the video i love it
Awesome I am so happy you like it!!
Great video!!!
Thank you!! Im glad you enjoyed :))
No apologies you delivered the lore correct and coherent enough for the non fanatics to understand!
YES thank you so much Im very happy to hear that! At some point I was like...am I actually making any sense
I just made a tiktok about this same concept yesterday. Love the top-down card design
Oh thats awesome!! Its definitely one of my favorite parts of the game!
Making a video this short is justified because one piece aint short. We would be looking at hours of info.
Honestly I needed to limit myself because I could of kept rambling about things that dont matter, but I find cool hahaha
I feel like the One Piece card game would've been perfect for a mobile game
Bandai needs to make an official sim already! There is a way to play the unofficial OPCG simulator on your phone tho, ive seen people do it :)
@@PurposefullyTCG I'll have to look into it.
Heres some I was thinking about
Gravity blade bottom decking is accurate, gravity pushes you down to the bottom.
Enel leader healing ability like how he restarted his heart
Nami leader mill win victory - she stalls as long as she can until the strawhats can come save the day
Blackbeard leader + 10 drop teach for obvious reasons, negating devilfruit abilities is very on-theme for his devilfruit
my fav cards are both green rosinante cards caues they both about protecting someone else
He’s the most selfless wholesome man in One Piece 😭😭😭
This guy got my sub when he said that Boa is the GOAT
Can’t be beat!
so uh, i notice no chopper............hes kinda cool. BUT LAW IS LITERALLY HIM!!!!
Perhaps in the next list Chopper will be included...! Also thats so funny you say that because the original line in my script was "Law is him" HAHA
First
I love "first" comments, thank you!!
vanilla laboon, doesnt need any abilities besides being big
Truuuuuuue theimposing art speaks for itself
