    Awesome video, awesome reaction. I've heard the song a hundred times; never had the lyrics in front of me. Was great taking that journey with you. I felt the connection to your current political climate that you touched on. Be safe brother.
    Their latest work (an amazing album altogether) touches directly on some of it. For relevance to the current situation check out Catastrophist, Among the Shadows and the Stones or possibly The Ones We Leave Behind.
    Although two of my favorites off the new one are What The Dead Men Say (possibly relevant) and Sickness Unto You (about his Matt Heafy's dog).

    MASTERPIECE

  • @alexwade2425
    @alexwade2425 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    I don't see anyone commenting about it. But the Samurai in the video are very relevant. It's very much a song about death, and war, and life. "Behold the loathesome demons, send them into the hell they made" is clearly saying what everyone in war says about the other side: "They're views are wrong, they're the demons. They've created this hellish war we're now a part of." Or later, "the pulse is now quickening, softly, it's painstaking. Look within to calm the storm..." This warrior needs to take a deep breath and steady himself for the war that's about to come. He's standing there, afraid, yet defiant, ready to die for what he believes in. He's accepted death, as is obvious by his attempt to calm his emotions. He's steadying himself, knowing he may not make it home. Absolutely beautiful meaning and an incredible song.
    (Edit)
    You can almost see the first 4 minutes, before the gentle part as the justification for why "this man" in the lyrics (who isn't directly spoken about, but I feel he's there) believes in going to war and dying for his country and brothers. In the gentle, second part, you can hear him steadying himself for the battle to come, and in the final part, the chaos, the heavy, epic sounding ambience symbolizes war - crazy, horrible, terrible war. Absolutely magnificent how they can covey the full circle of life in a song.

      @@NTN_Lex Never thought I'd see a recommendation of Cease all your fire. This is my favourite song on the project. While some may not like it as its 'different' from their original sound, I loved the album Silence in the Snow and I think its an amazing body of work, along side every other Trivium album. Would love to see this reaction man. I'm a native rap/uk rap listener and have recently gotten into metal myself and absolutely love Trivium

    React to Trivium - Entrance of the Conflagration it's based on a real life story about a mother drowning her own children by the order of Satan. This did happen back in 2001 and Matt did a great job analyzing this story. You'll love it

    I know I am late in commenting, but I see no one breaking down the title. Shogun in those times, was a title for a military dictator in Japan. They were rulers, highest (or one of the highest) in the hierarchy. The title is the key to the song, and everything makes sense, even the association to the samurai.
    But yes, there are political overtones, because it was so in those days in Japan, and is something we get to see quite often now and then in our present world.

  • @RyanCogar
    @RyanCogar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The singer Matt has often said that the lyrics come from a certain aspect or story/theme but that the listener can interpret them in their own way. They're kind of relatable on a general level but as you said man, sometimes your mind will attach or assign it to a certain thing, which is pretty cool honestly.
    On a side note if you want a real deep metal song that'll give you some food for thought then check out Architects "These Colour's Don't Run". It has a neat lyric video too. Bit of a different vibe from Trivium though as Trivium is more toward traditional heavy metal where as Architects are seen as "modern metalcore" maybe you could call it.

    Well you are perfectly right to associate the song with Samurai. During the age of Samurai in Japan the Emperor was the figurehead of the state but held no real power. The real power was the Shogun, who was the military leader of the nation. Samurai answered to their local lords (Diamyo) and the Diamyo answered to the Shogun.
