@mike sixx If they came up with the hook that made the music a hit, maybe it should be considered. On another note, artists that create hits with loops of these great talents receive all the royalties. It's basically editing. It's the way the system works, but in what universe is that fair?

    • @womblissimo6666
      @womblissimo6666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Firstly - if she's a studio musician - that is what she's paid for - that is the job. Secondly - Carol Kaye has stated on interview that they were making more money than the president .. now that may be an analogy - but it certainly does not sound like she feels like they were being hard done by ..
And I cannot see - without any other info to the contrary - they were being "exploited" .. by her own admission - they were making more money in a day than they'd make in a week on the road ..
If I design a game and contract someone to do the art - and the game is successful - the artists who delivered on their contracts should not now feel that they are entitled to a part of the profits of the game ..
I'm not saying that each and every one of "the wrecking crew" did not significantly enhance or in some cases define the sounds or songs of the people they "supported" - but that was the job and they did it gladly and to say that they were "exploited" seems somewhat ridiculous to me.
Certain members of "The wrecking Crew" - most notably Glen Campbell and Elvis Costello went on to have very successful solo careers. Carol - by her own admission - was tired of the music they were making and went off to do other things ..

But to simply walk in and demand entry is unreasonable at best, criminal at worst.

    Virgin Studio Walk:
    - Doesn't know what a 'Carol Kaye' even is.
    - if you're older than Justin Beiber, you're not important.
    - musical legend comes through? Wait till I'm done with my mocha latte.
    Chad Carol Kaye:
    - invented the grooves that defined the popular music currently being butchered at the studio.
    - appeared on more hot records than these artist ever will.
    - So good that Quincy Jones said, "Just do whatever".

@Rob Holloway they only sent her away for one of two reasons ...1) they were clueless to the fact that SHE single-handedly doubled that studio's earnings , at least ...2) they didn't care that #1 was the case . anybody in that studio may have lost a chance to lay down a LEGENDARY track and WE are the lesser for the fact that she was asked to leave . anybody IN THE STUDIO will now die knowing they might have had a chance to interact with this brilliant woman , but now it will never happen thanks to the rudeness of the front of the studio .

Oh right, they wont because its all computer, digital etc whatever you want to call it, no musicians have to show up, they do it all on a machine. This ol lady can still play an instrument.

So graceful that she didn’t contact the studio to find a good time to go there, and then pulled the “I’m famous” bullshit when they didn’t let her wander around during business. She planned poorly and whined about it, and insulted them with some imaginary sour-grapes shit when she didn’t have a clue what was going on in the studio and there could have damn well been somebody every bit as talented as her back there.

No, you’re not a calm non-violent person if you want to punch somebody from a video just because they don’t recognize random studio musicians walking in off the street and disrupting business. You’re a pugnacious jerk who gets pissed about very unimportant things that don’t affect your life.
