Dude. Within 15 minutes I generated an awesome animated wave form. And I haven't opened After Effects in 3 years, so I'd say you get an A+ for the tutorial. Thanks
I'm making my voice acting reel and have been searching all day how artist make waves modulate with their voice. Glad to know I have the tools to do it too. This was super easy to follow, thanks for the help man!
I'm happy with this tutorial, I don't feel like it was a transformative moment in my life but I'm glad to see it was for other people in the comments who apparently needed this tutorial to save the lives of everyone they hold dear.
Oh wow, thank you so much!!! I have synesthesia and I want to create videos based on what I see in my head, and this is EXACTLY what I've been needing. I've been looking for a program for months, I've already tried and the results are awesome!! I'll now have my first synesthesia visualization video within a few weeks, thanks to you!!
In the same composition, set the blending mode of that audio layer to Screen/Lighten (if the background you choose for it is dark) and put images below it then you'll have it. Or export it and add the video to the new composition and set the blending mode the same as above.
Is it possible to do this on a transparent background? It seems that making the whole Solid layer transparent hides the waveform too. How would you go about doing this on a transparent layer?
hi there! can i generate this audio waveform on a blank background? i followed your tutorial note by note and it worked totally fine, but then when i tried to do it within an existing composition, or as a new composition so i could copy it into an existing composition, it didn't work. any ideas? thanks so much for such a great video!
Thank you! I work for a USAToday Network paper and just used your tutorial to add a waveform. The reporter recorded his voice/statement over the phone; I grabbed it and put it into Ae and added it to a Premiere video. I'll be sure to come back to this video for future reference.
Co-Sign. Audio Spectrums show momentary frequency distribution of a given Signal from low (left) to high (right) frequencies, while waveforms show amplitude over time. So technically this is an audio spectrum visualization, not a waveform visulization!
Omg thanks so much you explained this really well, I've always wanted to know how to do this and now I can thanks to your tutorial XD You earned a sub!
You can Export it with transparency if you don't follow the step "Composite on Original" on 3:55 in the Video. Worked for me. Thanks for the Video! Exactly what i was looking for! 👍
Hi! Thank you for this video! Could you possibly explain how I can create this audio waveform without any background color? I want to export it with a transparent background, so that I can use it over a different graphic in another platform. Thank you in advance for your help!
Thank you for doing such a great job showing how to create this very cool effect. You explained it very well. However the best part of this video is the actual song you chose (sang?) Very beautiful and I'd like to hear the whole song. Thank you!
Thank you! It's just what I needed! Will try it now and I think it'll come out pretty cool and WAYYYY, HELLA BETTER, than my original idea! Thank yoooou!

Great tutorial! Is there a way to export just the waveform with a transparent background that we could place on images? Thanks!
I need to know this too!
@@sirmel11 yes just render out as "RGB + Alpha" from render queue

Had the same question! Answer: 1) make the color layer white 2) export as Quicktime 3) set to RGB + Alpha
You are awesome!!!! Bless you 🤗🤗🤗🤗
You picked a great song 🤗Your voice sounds pretty good to me! Thanks for the tutorial!
Is it possible to do this on a transparent background? It seems that making the whole Solid layer transparent hides the waveform too. How would you go about doing this on a transparent layer?
This is probably one of the best tutorials I’ve ever watched hands down. Thank you

Great Video! Thank you so much for the simple explanation!! Really love it!
First time AE love you so much , super helpful
There is a difference between a visualized audio *spectrum* and an audio *waveform* - the video title incorrectly calls this effect a waveform.
Co-Sign. Audio Spectrums show momentary frequency distribution of a given Signal from low (left) to high (right) frequencies, while waveforms show amplitude over time. So technically this is an audio spectrum visualization, not a waveform visulization!
I actually can't find a tutorial for audio waveforms in ae anywhere. It's like it's never been done.
@@owenpaxton4664 it's essentially the same process but you click-drag the Audio Waveform option onto your solid instead of Audio Spectrum
@@roleyruffles7913 woah, had no idea this existed
It’s not that deep br

Hi! Thank you for this video! Could you possibly explain how I can create this audio waveform without any background color? I want to export it with a transparent background, so that I can use it over a different graphic in another platform. Thank you in advance for your help!
Export 'RGB + Alpha Channel' in the Render Queue > Output Module settings
Uncheck 'Composite On Original' in the Effect Control panel before you render to 'RGB + Alpha Channel'.
Excellent tutorial. Much appreciated.
Really appreciate the kind words! 👍
Thank you. You helped me.
