kakage started off as that one Rosetta fanartist. The moment Rosetta gets a new skin or alternate unit, he’s always the earliest to have a fanart of her.
I remember starting Granblue fantasy around 7 years ago and he was doing Rosettas, from that moment onsward he became one of my favorite artist and a source of big inspiration and honestly couldn't help but smile when I saw Ori uploaded this video
as someone who has been drawing for 4 years and still hasn't felt like their art is good enough this video was hella motivating. thank u for sharing them tips w us orii
Hey weren't you the one who was on Kakage sensei's streams translating everything, when he did morning croquis in 2020/2021? Dude thank you so much, i was there and it was the first time i got motivated to work hard and draw every day! It was so easy to follow because refernces are already handed over and packed with helpful advices it was a blessing dude. (Also i miss them)
holy crap you’re right, I was introduced to kakage by Ina during one of her drawing streams a long time ago and I remember seeing oridays translating live in croquis streams sometimes! I dunno how I almost totally forgot about that until I watched this video, it was super helpful
Sometimes when I draw I overthink things and end up getting nowhere. It's a hard habit to break but watching your videos greatly helps and shows me to just keep going so I can improve and that I won't get anywhere if I stop.
Usually the tppo-style videos are filled with "amazing tips to draw like this artist" and the tips are just basics like "use varying width for hair pieces". Like. Yeah. You learn to stop doing that as soon as you stop drawing sasuke/sonic spikes. But this? Incredibly well done, thank you so much for your expertise and sharing this valuable advice to us.
All of this was very interesting information! I didn't know about you previously translating for Kakage, which made your personal experience with the artist add a lot to the advice you provided. This definitely motivated me to continue drawing, as someone who is still in the beginner-stages and transitioning from traditional to digital for the first time. Thank you for sharing everything you've learned!
Hearing what kakage had to say in the beginning actually changed my relationship with art. It sounds so dramatic but that singular roasting session clicked everything into place and ripped me from the jaws of art depression. I've been drawing hard almost every single day since I watched this. Thank you so so so much for sharing it and unexpectedly saving my relationship with my passion. I might still be mentally struggling now without this video. I can't express my gratitude enough. Sometimes we need a stronger pep talk than the usual kindness 😅 well, I do at least. BLESS YOU ORI
I'm not an artist, but throughout my life, in all possible situations, I learned the best from the harshest teachers. People that refuse to pity you and instead force you to hold yourself to a higher standard will help you out so much.
As someone who's been drawing professionally for 14 years, both for personal projects, small projects, and major production. I wanna share my own wisdom and say that making popularity and being popular a major foundational goal of yours as an artist can leave you feeling empty and bitter. Ive seen so many artists burn out in the pursuit of social media numbers or clout I think a moderate or small pursuit of popularity is perfectly healthy, but when you motivate the change in your art style with the pursuit of validation from other people, folks you dont even know. Youre eventually gonna leave yourself burnt out and feeling lost. Thats just my 2 cents as someone who's been in there for more than a decade
2:20 Look, ma! I'm on TV! I have to say I certainly wasn't expecting that to happen, but it is nice to know that you are in fact the same Oridays as back then. Doesn't feel like it's been a couple of years, but I honestly wouldn't have gotten as far in art as I did without Kakage sensei's Morning Croquis and critiques. I don't have the time to watch him like I used to but I still lurk a stream here and there when I get the chance. God speed, Oridays!
Thanks for the tips dude,I think you're saving me from my severe depression cause lately I am learning how to draw from basic. So that time I was learning shape and I got cooked cause of how hard it's but, when my depression became more severe,I remembered you and I began to look into your channel. Thank you very much , you're the best, ori san🔥
Thank you for this video. I've been drawing since young, and was always too lazy to try and purposely improve - but recently I've sat down to try and learn to purposely get better, and this video helps a lot to get me into the right mindset to learn.
i'm so related to you on avoiding anime and stuffs that are too popular. Very nice video btw! For people like me who barely started with art, it's definitely very helpful to see you and other artists' journey, how their arts would change through time like this.
Kakage is one of my favorite artists in FEH! And now that you mention they're a big influence on you I can totally see it, especially in the way you draw eyes.
i very glad to have found your channel. I’ve been drawing for a while and always struggled to understand what i was doing wrong and why, i’m still struggling today and nothing is near what i envisioned in my head. Usually other youtube channels say the same things, But i’ve found that yours genuinely gives useful tips. It motivated me to actually start drawing again after I took a long hiatus because i gave up. And i also thank you for showing me other artists that i can get inspiration and help from
you just hit right on the point, what do i want to express with this drawing? i feel that many artists including myself forget what we wanted to express in the first place, thank you for remembering something that i forgot a long time ago and that, exaggerated as it sounds has just made my path in the art of drawing have a clearer direction. it won't solve all the problems but it is certainly a mind changer. i will be sure to come back to this video if i ever forget why i started in the first place.
I genuinely enjoy listening to these kind of videos because it helps give me an idea of the direction I need to go and how to improve my art overall, keep up the great work!!!
I can't thank you enough for how much your live translation had helped me understand his stream back then and im so happy to see how far have you made it in both art and channel. Watching your video always gave me motivation to draw more. Keep up the good work bro!
man your a great teacher its so hard to find good youtube art teachers now a lot of them start blabering i watch through the entire thing and felt inspired to pick up my pen and start drawing it really put me back on track
I've been watching your channel for awhile now as someone who wants to both improve their art (for both personal enjoyment and to get into the animation/art industry) and grow their social media following as a side job, I am SO glad your channel exists as my art style is very much anime/moe-ish but not in the way that I feel like I can confidently post them anymore and been taking in these tips as to improve my art as for a long while I've kinda felt like I was stuck. It doesn't help I'm busy with life as of right now and with some not so desirable issues I have for myself but I've been dying to start up again and get back to art improvement. So these tips have helped me and keep them in the back of my head to remember. Sorry for the long winded and confusing comment
おはようございますおりさんお元気ですか。i love this video ori! I don't draw in an anime style much anymore, but I have been taking japanese lessons. I love learning from artists and there's so much information from japanese artists that honestly still wouldn't be available to me if i didn't know about you channel. ありがとうございましたおりさん!またね!
I don't personally draw and still watch Kakage-sensei roasting streams. The insight is always great and always makes me want to grab a pen and start my journey.
Still trying to figure out if I want to start my art journey fully yet, I started doing horrible drawings this june but I had fun drawing them even if they turned out bad, and seeing all of these amazeing artist's and they're art makes me motivated to start my journey, but I will say seeing art like this sometimes does make me feel jealous, but I try to convert that into motivation to start drawing, I love your art and I think it's amazeing how some people can turn a blank canvas into a painting full of life.
I love your channel ahhhh. Been watching for a while but just wanted to say....Thanks for making videos that feel more targeted towards an intermediate artist. There's so much material for beginners out there, & had been wanting more advanced art tips & wondering why no one makes them. ;w; I was even thinking of making a channel myself once my skill level improves in the future. But your channel is amazing and i've gotten a such good amount of value from it! I do agree though critique and having an expert mentor is super important! :3 Always have had the humble learner mentality and stuggle with the confident creator one for sure. And it causes so much art block & keeps me from posting my art online a lot of the time. Gotta work on the balance that tip really hit home oof
10:28 I absolutely adore your videos and how organized you are. I always feel the need to whip out a book and take so many notes! Your sense is right though; if you have time to look at other artist's work and complain about how much you suck, then you have time to practice. So true.
Ive watched him for the past year! I never really checked out anything besides his streams that he does, I had no idea there were english translations of his stuff, and that he was so popular! This is so cool, Im excited to watch the rest of the video now :3
These tips are really helpful and the the quality of the video is high as always Ori. I really enjoy this video and it really inspires me to draw and improve even more :)
I haven't heard this mistakes/lesson in my entire journey with thousands of yt videos, thats why I've never realized it. Thanks to this, this is so helpful.
Really informative video! Also I don't think you cannot think out what you want to express. Since you probably started drawing to express something and as it may be abvious you had not drawn before that. 😀
I can only imagine how great it was to break out of the 'neutral face' thing as somebody who's trying to pull some work there now. Your videos have definitely helped me learn to like drawing a little more again lately.
Holy shit Kakage is a god. I remember falling in love with his style back in Granblue Fantasy as the designer for Rosetta and I've always loved seeing his art.
oh damn, hey oridays! I really liked kakage's croquis streams. They were a lot of fun to draw along. Sadly my schedule changed a lot and I couldn't join the livestreams anymore due to timezones. It's pretty cool to see how far you got. Anyways, again, thank you for the translations back in the days :D
the expressions are something i really struggle with, the improvement of urs are very impressive, i hope i can practice and get better at it, ty for the amazing tips
I totally agree with all the advice kakage told you about and with the advice you gave in this video. Sure, it might be harsh, but what he said is true. I've learnt some of these things myself over the years, although i don't draw that often, i do other things instead, like design and apply those things there, and gradually, i got better. My eyes got better at spotting things too, and instead of trusting my intuition, i always analyzed what i made so i could see my mistakes and what i could do to fix them and improve. These advices can really help both inexperienced and experienced artists and people doing other things as well. It trully works, however it won't just happen in a flash, it takes time so work on it, continue to do it and you'll get better, plus you'll also increase the amount of things you can do. Great video Ori, thank you. It'll help many. I'm absolutely sure of that
Thank you for the advice! I never was that much into art, but seeing how punctilious you are in your works, made me want to challange myself into learning art professionally myself :D.
you are very lucky to have a sensei by your side, you improves so much within 2 years i draw by myself.... learn by looking at my favourite artist i never really had the biggest critique that will make me realised how bad my drawings are all of this makes me slow in improvement (more than 5 years)....but i an grateful that i actually can see some improvement
This video was very eye opening for me. I've been drawing for over a decade now and my art is still genuinely not good, lol. I've improved a lot but I just don't practice enough(if I did I'd get burnt out and never pick up a pencil again). But this video taught me something more important than "practice more"- it taught me that I draw because I enjoy it, not to make "good" art, and that preserving that enjoyment is the most important part of the whole process for me. Thank you.
You're the Artist that I admired the most. Your Tutorials are slowly improving my Artstyle. Arigato🙏🙏, Please send more videos, Its boring if you dont post any videos :(
thank you so much for the quality content once again!! it’s really cool seeing all the art knowledge and wisdom in general you’ve gained over the years 💖
Great video! These are some very valuable tips, thank you! ^^ (Also your channel is a huge inspiration for me, I have so much to learn from you and apply to my own videos!)
Thank you for the useful video, it really helped me a lot! Lately I've found myself unable to develop and stuck with many things, but after watching this video I realized what I'm lacking. This video is very useful for those who are self-taught artists. !
Thank you very much for all of your guides. I am a college student and have just started to draw. I was already able to create an art piece, thanks to your guidance.
I've always wished to get help from someone because I've been searching for a long time and almost lost motivation. But you made me do things 10 times better in a day. I wish I had you as a friend, haha, so you could coach me.
Maybe it's just as Kakage said at the beggining, it's because we keep watching people stuff and not trying by ourselves that we're somhow scared of failure or judgment... I respect a lot begginer artists that just goes on the internet, post their stuff as if no one would ever see it and just keeps the positive and interesting feedbacks on it
Awesome videos as always ! Thank u so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I would like to know more about how to draw background. Your background in your art is phenomenal and it really helps to make the character stands out. Hope to hear some tutorials and tips about this topic from u !
At 6:24 you talk about proportions for a fanart. Did you show us these proportions because we should try to use them in every illustration we do, or is this just an example for correct proportions?
This video just completely blew my mind at 4:00 am. I didn't think much at first because while I love anime-esque art, my drawing skills are basically non-existent... I watched the video anyway and, thought it was fine, and then remembered my freaking day job is an autocad technician... I draw layouts for homes, sidewalks, all that stuff for a living, and some of the advice about improvement and practice SERIOUSLY resonate with me! Wonderful video ❤
wow this video is extremely helpful! i have always hard a problem with looking at art and understanding how artist do it so well, coloring was some what more simple for me but not getting expressions and anatomy very well or how to break it down correctly. speed paints help but you really put it in good detail with amazing examples! thank you for the vid!
Oh! No wonder I was wondering if I’ve seen your username before when I started seeing your videos on my TH-cam feed. I would drop by kakage’s morning croquis streams on some occasions back in my breaks during college. I remembered how much he adores Rosetta from Granblue Fantasy, always drawing her so beautifully (and the ways he reacted once her Grand unit got new art for her lvl 100 uncap design 🥰). He made a very cool mini guide & video demo ft. FGO Musashi back then on how to render characters in that game’s older/ iconic grisaille shading style and it’s been cool seeing how he did it so clearly. His morning livestreams back then have been refreshing reminders that you can’t skip practice with drawing if you want to grow, hehe. Thank you so much for your live translations from back then too! So that explains the theme behind his more recent roasting videos and live streams lol 🤣 It’s been wonderful seeing you improve your illustrations all this time! Keep going, oridays!
Once again, thank you so much for sharing with us how you went -- and still are going -- through your journey. I recently realised that I also was way too much focused on pure technical skills, and not intention. So I tried thinking about it... And nothing came. Hearing you had similar problems and overcomed them is comforting. I do wonder though, if it comes through drawing and not through thinking, but the current drawings are lacking of it, then is it just a matter of patience ?
damn, he's definitely brutal with his advice 😂 personally, i think this is what all artists need; a hearty bashing from a mentor to keep their ego in check.
A teach art and one thing I’ll say about these is that like they are good foundational advices. I make my students learn how to measure proportions and angles before we start on portraits and landscapes because having a good eye for that is going to be the foundation for improving your art techniques.
kakage started off as that one Rosetta fanartist. The moment Rosetta gets a new skin or alternate unit, he’s always the earliest to have a fanart of her.

I'm not an artist but Kakage is famous in the gbf community. I don't think there's a single player that hasn't heard of him and his Rosettas yet.
@@crimsonhunterback then? Sure, but nowdays he rarely draws GBF stuff, on the other hand we got hibana's Zeta 😂 truly a god send
Is anyone know where can i submit my work to kakage?

This video was very eye opening for me. I've been drawing for over a decade now and my art is still genuinely not good, lol. I've improved a lot but I just don't practice enough(if I did I'd get burnt out and never pick up a pencil again). But this video taught me something more important than "practice more"- it taught me that I draw because I enjoy it, not to make "good" art, and that preserving that enjoyment is the most important part of the whole process for me. Thank you.
Full of knowledge, thanks for the vid bro !!
You're the Artist that I admired the most.
Your Tutorials are slowly improving my Artstyle.
Arigato🙏🙏,
Please send more videos, Its boring if you dont post any videos :(
thank you so much for the quality content once again!! it’s really cool seeing all the art knowledge and wisdom in general you’ve gained over the years 💖
an amazing video, thank you for making this!
Today starts my art journey towards actively leveling up instead of passively drawing. Thank you for the words of wisdom!
Great video! These are some very valuable tips, thank you! ^^ (Also your channel is a huge inspiration for me, I have so much to learn from you and apply to my own videos!)
Congrats for 100K!
why did i find you and かかげ先生 today? 😭 i’m going to binge watch both of your videos.
ティップ教えてくれてありがとうございます!!必要でした^ ^
Thank you for the useful video, it really helped me a lot! Lately I've found myself unable to develop and stuck with many things, but after watching this video I realized what I'm lacking. This video is very useful for those who are self-taught artists. !
Thank you very much for all of your guides. I am a college student and have just started to draw. I was already able to create an art piece, thanks to your guidance.
I've always wished to get help from someone because I've been searching for a long time and almost lost motivation. But you made me do things 10 times better in a day. I wish I had you as a friend, haha, so you could coach me.
I hope to be better like you ori-sensei🙏
Thank you Ori! Your videos help me out so much in my art journey, ありがとうございます! 💙
Thanks Kakage-sensei and oridays for the tips! I am a beginner artist-hobbyist! Also subscribed!🎉
Nice tips friend, I'll try some of them! Thank you!
that criticism was perfect, he told you what NEEDED to be said, but that still doesnt mean that it wasnt going to body slam the listener xD
Maybe it's just as Kakage said at the beggining, it's because we keep watching people stuff and not trying by ourselves that we're somhow scared of failure or judgment... I respect a lot begginer artists that just goes on the internet, post their stuff as if no one would ever see it and just keeps the positive and interesting feedbacks on it
Merciiii !!!
Broooo the goat himself Kakage! Every time he talks softly I ascend because he’s brutal all the time 🥲
That's the quality content I subscribed for! 🚀
my favorite part in art is guessing what artist wanted to say or show, the story or just a moment of that story
Awesome videos as always ! Thank u so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I would like to know more about how to draw background. Your background in your art is phenomenal and it really helps to make the character stands out. Hope to hear some tutorials and tips about this topic from u !
very inspiring THANKS ! ! !
I loved the video Ori
strong kansai accent from kakage its quite entertaining to listen to.
no sugarcoating, straightforward and direct
At 6:24 you talk about proportions for a fanart. Did you show us these proportions because we should try to use them in every illustration we do, or is this just an example for correct proportions?
This video just completely blew my mind at 4:00 am. I didn't think much at first because while I love anime-esque art, my drawing skills are basically non-existent...
I watched the video anyway and, thought it was fine, and then remembered my freaking day job is an autocad technician... I draw layouts for homes, sidewalks, all that stuff for a living, and some of the advice about improvement and practice SERIOUSLY resonate with me! Wonderful video ❤
this is some of the best advice I've heard on growing your audience on social media! Westerners don't really tell you stuff like this
なんだかやる気が出てきた
This video is actually insanely good
This is very nice to hear after finding out how rusty I am after my drawing hiatus.
wow this video is extremely helpful! i have always hard a problem with looking at art and understanding how artist do it so well, coloring was some what more simple for me but not getting expressions and anatomy very well or how to break it down correctly. speed paints help but you really put it in good detail with amazing examples! thank you for the vid!
Thank you for the advice and tips you gave us. The video was useful and interesting. Thank you again
I like how the tutorial is easy to understand
Once again, thank you so much for sharing with us how you went -- and still are going -- through your journey. I recently realised that I also was way too much focused on pure technical skills, and not intention. So I tried thinking about it... And nothing came. Hearing you had similar problems and overcomed them is comforting. I do wonder though, if it comes through drawing and not through thinking, but the current drawings are lacking of it, then is it just a matter of patience ?
ahhhh new ori videooooo
0:01 you pronounced "Twitter" wrong
damn, he's definitely brutal with his advice 😂 personally, i think this is what all artists need; a hearty bashing from a mentor to keep their ego in check.
A teach art and one thing I’ll say about these is that like they are good foundational advices. I make my students learn how to measure proportions and angles before we start on portraits and landscapes because having a good eye for that is going to be the foundation for improving your art techniques.
ive been drawing for 11 years and this is rlly helpful omg tysm for this
