Good video Chuke. Awesome 12 ga. Simple and effective 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
12ga vs Coromandel hairy man ?
I’ve worked wild game processing for about 10-12 seasons in my life. I made a point whenever I would check in game to ask the hunters what they used to shoot the animals. Mostly white tails. 12ga slug did by far the most damage. Sometimes bowling ball size exit wounds. Several missing the nose and the top of the skull. Lower jaw still on and tongue flopping out the top of the neck. There is a firearm that is a very close second surprisingly. The Muzzle Loader black powder rifle. .50 cal muzzle loader shoots almost the same projectile in most cases and can actually get it going faster. The smooth bore foster slugs do more damage than the Muzzle Loader. The expansion on those can be crazy.
Foster slugs are solid lead and mostly hollow so they dump ALL their energy
Wow, thanks for sharing!
Chuke you should do a bigfoot gun series for fun
Bigfoot vs Brown Bear!
I'll just carry a magic wand. But if I had to have a gun I'd pick a 10mm
I think the bear has expired.
You and chuck need a TV show. I always enjoy you post .
12 gauge….and done! Thanks for the video
Thank you!!!
Brennekke not foster slugs ?
Great video! I always love your content. While I don't find myself in your kind of territory, I picked up two 10mm pistols, an XD-M Elite 3.8" and a M&P Performance, and I love them both. I have never had a single malfunction with either, so now I trust them with hundreds of rounds through them. I decided to go with the Underwood Xtreme Hunters and have also shot a couple hundred of them with zero failures, so that's my go-to. Light to carry, and those rounds would Swiss cheese a Polar Bear brain with very easy follow-up shots. I can't remember a while back the chest rig you recommended, but I picked one up and love it.
In deadwood south Dakota years ago there was a very informal museum near first gold creek. In it was red clouds bow .it looked like a child's toy. Next to it was a bear skull with an arrow sticking out of it. It was reported as found that way.
I enjoy the content Chuke! I love the Sasquatch Sundays as well! Have a great weekend
Thank you for the test it’s always fun to see ☕️☕️
This is pretty cool
Thanks man!!
Good to know info right there! ❤
Video is interesting however after the first shot caused trauma to the skull all further shots were meaningless. Shoot a separate target with each round .
Seems like the case with most testing videos on various channels. I do get that the targets are expensive but for the purpose of accurate results would be worth the wait to see each test separately.
My personal bias is still for the Ruger Toklat. As Chuke demonstrated with full power hard cast loads it can do what needs to be done. But if I'm in a built up area where overpenetration could be a serious problem I just need to load it with .45 Colt and that problem is solved. If I were to try to do that with a semiautomatic I would need either two different pistols in two different calibers or two different barrel and spring assemblies for the same gun. With the Ruger I just have to remember what ammo is in which speed loader and swap ammo around as necessary. Plus in a worst case scenario that Ruger could be a reasonable club. 😀
As an owner of a Super Red Hawk Alaskan in .454 I concur with this statement 🤣🤣
This was fun to watch🤜🤛
Interesting test I would choose 10mm and shotgun I love the idea of 460 but imo it's exceeded the parameters of the cartridge and firearm making it unreliable the 454 is awesome but harder to control
My question is 20yrs ago nobody would carry a semi auto pistol for predator defence now it's common but I don't hear anyone carrying a semi auto shotgun like 940 tactical ,a300 ,or 1301 why not ?
Chuke, you shoot more Game than most folks I know. Use the real deal skulls. U probably have a barn full. Stay well. How bout a squatch skull. Yehaaa
He said in the video that he destroyed all the bear skulls he had in testing. He said even a 9mm penetrated a fresh bear head, so there's not really any point.
You must have a listening problem
@@phat-kw9ox how so?
If they existed, he'd have one
Did you not listen or watch the beginning??
Ive never tried a bear skull. But have tested my 44 mag hard cast. On 2" thick white oak planks. A around 20 yards it was blowing through 3 planks. That were new rough sawed. . I bet a 454 would go through way more. . I even soaked them in water. . White oak is Tough. . God bless chuke. Awsome video.😊
Wet white oak is more penetrable than dry. Canon balls would bounce off ships made of seasoned white oak.
Great show and information.
Thanks!!!
Michael Herrell
Great test Chuke. I’m sold on the shotgun followed by the 454 Casull.
That’s a good test subject!🎯🎯
Chuke I think you should have started with your carry Glock 23 with 200 gb hardcast.
Try a test with 41mag, 44mag, 460mag and a 500mag.
Would make a Great video.
Maybe with Chuck?
Great video, Chuke
Interesting test.
Great videos on the 460 Rowland. I just purchased a FN FNX-45 for conversion. Do you have a source for purchasing 255 grain hardcast bullets for reloading the 460?
Chuke shooting decorations again...
The risk for bears and humans must both be taken into account. Both quick and unpredictable targets that must be stopped. Most people don't train enough, so more than 6 rounds are usually fired due to missing from stress, movement, poor shooting position. In my mind a 10mm or 460r has both the power and round count to handle both situations.
Got any old bear hides laying around? Last time I saw a live bear it had hair and skin. That extra layer on the outside might change some of the outcomes. Worth a thought.
Awesome video!
I think you could market the 460 as a polar bear gun..Get another one while you have the $..I think you found your forever gun..
Absolutely!!
Nice one God blees
Alaska fish and game use 12 gauge for a damn good reason
A real test would be with a grizzly skull wouldn't it? 🤔
True 😅
Good video 🎉12ga always wins .
Take a shot every time he says hard cast.
😂
Dang it. I did what you said now all the neighbors cats are dead........oh you meant a shot of booze...👀🤣🤣
Looking for 10mm G9 tests…
Squatch skull demo please 😊
I have always wondered about any real life bear experience any one has had using regular foster slugs . Although inferior penetration compared to brennekes, and other harder alloy slug types, can they at least penetrate the skull far enough to suffice if that's the only ammo available? And is there any difference in such terminal effect between Remington, Federal, or Winchester slugs with their slightly different nose design? I appreciate you doing this test.
Actually a 30 06 will do more damage, do to its higher velocity, I've seen a video of a pad lock and what it really takes in reality to bust one open like you see in the movies, a 12gage slug did a lot of
Damage but didn't open it, but the 30 06 did destroy it enough blowing apart where the 12gage slug did not blow it apart,

Thanks buddy, I always appreciate you! Have a great day!
I got a Kriss Vector in 10mm. I wonder if it can be a Bear or Squatch gun? It would be nice if it can be demonstrated.😅
Is there such a thing as hard cast 12g slugs?
Brenneke
Not the o lite sweatshirt
Hey Chuke, what watch are you wearing?
How is 500 Beowulf?
bones lose alot of density after the animals die, however he just said "this is an artificial skull" as im typing this 😅
Where is LWRoad?
He hasn’t posted anything in over 2 months.
Could you try Dixie SlugWorks Tri Ball?
No 480 Ruger?
No need when you have 454 Casull
.480 Ruger was a good cartridge but it never really caught on because there are others that do the same job as well or better, good luck finding ammo for it, pretty much a hand load only. The .460 Rowland hasn't caught on either but there is nothing in a semi-auto of it's size that does the same thing so it's a bit different situation.
@@phillhuddleston9445 480 Ruger is my favorite big bore revolver cartridge, but you’re 100% right. There’s not really any factory ammo worth a darn that you can get. I load a max charge of H110 under a 425gr WFN and it closes the gap between 480 and 475 linebaugh very nicely. In the same vein, I also load a 340gr MBC bullet over titegroup to essentially match the heavy 44 mag 1000 fps kind of loads. Between those two rounds there’s essentially nothing else I’d want to do with a big bore single action, but neither are offered by the factories
Whoooooooooooooooooooooo. Calm down dude
That 9mm you tested on the unprocessed skull was it hard cast ammo? 124gr or 147? Round bullet or flat point?
Front or side shot?
I hear the forehead is the thickest
People wanna know if normal cartridges like 9mm and .556 would be effective. And all you’re doing is testing actual bear cartridges. Like why….
"actual beer cartridges"🤔
man, you should not be making vids of firing without a proper backstop for your bullets, Bring the gell block down onto the ground, go prone for the shot, or find a hillside, dump a load of dirt/gravel out there, set up some logs/RRA tie walls with gravel in between them, SOMETHING to catch those richochet/misses/overpenetrations. sheesh.
I highly doubt he would hit anyone being that he’s in Alaska
I know that location. There’s a very large mountain as the back stop. Maybe ask before spouting off.
Another "expert" chiming in from the wilds of his city apartment lol.
What a joke
What kind of watch is that?
Invicta Coalition Forces
The angled slope of the skull has more to do with bullet deflection than the density or toughness of the skull. Good video as always.
That 454 Toklat also does massive damage to chronographs.
What about the 4" of bone protecting the brain?
I like how you give a Rick Flair "Whoooooo" scream at the end each shot. Did not disappoint!!
I would use my 460V five inch full lug muzzle brake equipped barrel. A 460 S&W magnum 395 grain hard cast gas check at 1500 fps. Or a 360 Grain 454 Casull hard cast gas check Hammer Head bullet from Garrett Cartridges of Texas.
People still shill for olight? Tell you what, that cheap chineseium still runs but to be honest i never ran it hard. Please Dont shill for olight guys😂
454 for me, underwood ammo hard cast
RoaR
Fun!!!!!
Cool video
I dont think the hard cast is performing enough in the distance, but the 12 gauge makes the pistols look small
Thanks, often wonder about how my 454 would do ? Not being 45/70 they devastating to melons both cantaloupe and watermelons my game of choice! Lol
460 Rowland impressive round. 9×25 dillion is hot.
Great video Chuke!
Thanks man!!
Chuke, good video! How about a water jug test with 45 ACP+P hardcast?
Good Stuff
Nice work 👍
