In this episode of the Health Analytic Insights podcast I am interviewing Juliette Nwagbara, founder of RHIA Essential, who is a Health IT professional, student mentor, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and a philanthropist. She also teaches Health IT students at the University of Texas at Austin. As a first-generation Nigerian-American, Nwagbara’s parents instilled the importance of education and hard work. This Houston native is now using those lessons to inspire her clients and mentees to achieve their highest potential. RHIA Essential currently serves Health IT professionals all over the United States.

Would you recommend this certification for someone already working as a medical coder and been in the healthcare field for over 19 yrs? I have a Bachelor’s in Bus Admin and have CPC for Coding. I’m looking to get into Data Analytics. So I have lot of experience already. I’m trying to decide between going for a Master’s in HIM or just taking some courses to help me with the tech skills
Hi Stephanie, thanks for your question if you are looking to get into Data Analytics specifically I would lean towards taking some courses to help with your technical skills. Learning SQL (structured query language) and a data visualization tool such as Power BI or Tableau would be helpful. Would you recommend this certification for someone already working in healthcare as Medical doctor just graduate. I am doctor and have many skills in communication, marketing and basic informtics (computer science without coding) I know SPSS and EPINFO software. I’m looking to get into health Data science . I’m trying to decide between going for a Master’s in HIM or just taking some courses to help me with the tech skills before going to Master (in other to have more experience for admission). Little precision I am from west Africa.
Hi Adebo, I would recommend taking courses to beef up your data visualization skills and in tools such as SQL, Python, and R, if you are interested in going into Health Data Science.
